Amenities: - Heating - Kitchen - Indoor Fireplace - Family / Kid Friendly - Playing cards and board games provided - Two hammocks and two yoga mats - Books - CD's and DVD's - Canoe - Soaps and shampoos.
The accommodation consists of a lovingly constructed corrugated iron cabin, with 2 single beds downstairs plus one double and one single bed upstairs in the loft. Fresh bedding is provided, along with soaps and shampoos. There is room for stretchers if required (no bedding provided). We have two showers, one indoors and one out on the deck, both with hot and cold water. The toilet is indoors and just like home. The kitchen offers a small gas oven and cook top, coffee machine with coffee pods, coffee percolators, a toaster and a gas fridge and a gas BBQ on the deck. Note: There is NO internet/TV/radio service here and your mobile phone will not work. There is a CD player, a DVD player and a charger for small items such as laptop computers.

What a fabulous experience!
The cabin has so much charm with gorgeous and fun touches everywhere you turn!
The shower on the deck is fabulous!
The views are staggering and the wildlife amazing.
The idyllic surroundings are perfect for relaxing, and the cabin is about 1km from HQ where Nic is so the only neighbours you have are the chickens!
Best of all are Nic and his pup Tink!
Nic's warmth and fantastic sense of humour had us all feeling at home from the moment we arrived!
The digital detox was wonderful, especially for the kids!
The kids had such a great time, they were talking about coming back before we even left!

Our stay was nothing short of amazing. Hard to put into words. Will 100% be coming back and recommending this place to all my friends. A rare find: cosy, cute, warm, all the necessary amenities one needs. We made friends with the possums, chickens and tinker
bell (nick's dog) He is a wonderful host and he generously even offered to collect us at 6am as we had a deadline to meet for our half marathon race on the wkend. We spent a good hour or more chatting to Nick and Viv and they are really interesting and lovely people. Nick has put so much effort into making the cabin special and uniquely decorated. Highlights were definitely the breathtaking view, kangaroos, fireplace, and the secluded nature of the location. Having stayed in 20+ bnb’s. This is in my opinion the coolest place i have ever found! And the price is quite good too!

It has so much character and charm and it is wonderfully secluded and well equipped - it’s got everything you need, including farm fresh eggs!
I could have stayed in the hammock on that verandah forever.
I highly recommend the outdoor shower - you’ll never have a more scenic scrub.
You definitely need a 4WD to get from HQ to the cabin (we thought our AWD might cut it, but I can now confirm, there is no way). Nick drove us to the cabin and we decided to walk back to HQ to our car which is steep but definitely doable. It took me 15 minutes, maybe double that for my 60 year old mother.
Nick is a wonderful host and it is a truly unique experience staying at his quirky, homely cabin. COULDN’T RECOMMEND MORE HIGHLY.

We are a returning couple to this amazing cabin retreat. Our stay was better than last year’s and we were lucky to have the beautiful rain with our New Year’s beers this round. We went for a walk around the property, fed the ducks and sat on the pier, watched the turtles and a wood duck, the kangaroos/joeys, wallabies and the goanna.
Upon arrival, the cabin was immaculate, smelt lovely and was so clean. Everything is there that you’d need and the cabin guests will sometimes leave some little amenities there. Nic and Viv are super friendly too and their property is about 20mins away, so you have complete privacy and isolation (the good isolation lol).
So, if you want that perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of your everyday life, shower in the outdoor shower, have some quiet drinks outside with a view of the mountains and the songs of the birds and nature then this is the place for you.

If you're looking for a space to relax and unwind this is the perfect spot. Nick's cabin has everything you need - from no wifi or phone reception (pure bliss), fantastic cooking facilities, all the games, books and music for entertainment, an amazing wood burning stove and that's all before I even touch on the unreal views and quirky touches in and around the cabin!

I can't speak highly enough of Nick's cabin. The bush setting is out of this world, so remote with only kangaroos, possums, goannas, chooks, ducks, birds, wombats for company. Where do I start!! This was the best bnb I’ve ever stayed in. It had the perfect mix of being welcoming and homely yet rustic and adventurous. We were met at Nicks home which was so interesting in itself! So much character!
He then guided us to our stay through a fun but doable off road track which was exciting.
He then showed us round, so much to take it in, the views were insane, plenty of books and games provided, animals to feed (roos, possums and goannas!).
The whole time we were there we were taking in all the small touches, they were endless, it’s like a mini museum.
This magical place is such a gem, we can’t wait to go back to experience it in winter too.

Our stay at Nicks cabin was absolutely lovely. Our first wildlife encounter was driving up to the cabin when we spotted a beautiful male lyrebird, followed a couple of hours later by his mate having a drink from the dam.
Kangaroos, possums and goannas dropped by to say hi in our little bush cabin and the view framed by the bedroom window overlooking the dam was a lovely way to wake up.
My partner was fascinated by all the quirky touches left by worldly guests throughout the cabin, while I was content to lie in the verandah hammock soaking up the peaceful quiet.
Would definitely recommend Nick’s cabin for anyone looking to get up close and personal with the Australian bushland while also feeling comfortably at home in a cosy cabin.

This is such a beautiful place to stay at, its quiet, secluded and serene. It’s perfect for couples who want to hang out together without the disturbance of phones and the internet. Gives you time to connect, play monopoly, checkers, chess and even some outdoor Jenga.
We had the pleasure of feeding the ducks, watching the goannas, kangaroos, wallabies and diff types of birds. The possums come in after you go in to drink up and have a party so make sure to take all your stuff in when you do call it a night.
The dam out front was awesome to go poking around in, we had a nice arvo drinking there and then went for a walk around the property but not too far. You’ll find lots of cool things out there.
The kitchen is very clean as is the toilet bathroom and rest of the cabin. The bed was so comfy and smelt like lavender and there’s even windows and books around to read and so many little bits and pieces to pick up and look at.
My partner and I were there for our 5th year so we did some painting, wine, beer and bbq and we even got to watch a storm pass over us.
Nic was an amazing host, ran us through all the stuff we needed to know esp about safety which is important to us. There is also a radio to contact him on and safety emergency equip there at the actual cabin. He’s super friendly and the 4wd driving there and back is mad! Haha.

Tranquil, serene, peaceful, calmness. Words that generally sum up the cabin in the bush. Everything's well resourced, even some cooking condiments. Iterates the importance of nature and water use. Place was warm and that was without use of the fireplace all the time. Space outside was massive, but inside was extremely comfortable for two people. Can definitely fit more. What was there not to love about Nick's Cabin, from the moment we arrived you could not wipe the smiles off our faces. Nick's amazing hospitality was so warming as he showed us his perfect hideaway, from the fireplace to the loft bedroom we already couldn't wait to come back. The perfect location with no reception on the other side of the Blue Mountains with spectacular views is just what we needed to disconnect from the city. There was no shortage of amenities as you can clearly tell Nick has really put his heart and soul in creating such a peaceful space, hammocks on the balcony, jetty to feed the ducks, board games and books galore and bubble and even an outdoor shower. We had the pleasure of spending two nights in Nicks Cabin. Heaven on Earth!! Nick was an awesome host, he showed us around his area on his property. Such an eclectic mix of decor fills his cabin, this adds to the charm of the cabin. What struck us first was the sense of peace that washed over us both once arriving. All the extra little touches were so welcoming such a bottle of bubbly, food to feed the visiting animals as well as a bowl of fresh fruit. We enjoyed two very relaxing nights by the fire playing board games and soaking up the positive energy. The view will catch you by surprise and be hard to tear your away from. We left feeling very relaxed and energised. We will be back and hope to make Nicks amazing cabin our go to escape from busy lives where we can disconnect and recharge. We spent 2 nights at the cabin and wished we could have stayed longer. It's such a perfect setting for switching off from the world and we left incredibly relaxed.
Nick is brilliant - from start to finish he made us feel welcome, gave us local tips and took the time out of his day to introduce us to parts of the property we wouldn't have seen otherwise!

I'd like to thank Nic for this wonderfully curated experience. Us city dwellers forget how rich the wild is. I expected it to be like living in the middle of a trail, but it turned out to be much more. The colours of the night are magnificent and so are the rich symphony of night sounds in the forest. I'll skip on the details about the 8 ft goanna, the wallabies and the ducks the other reviews have done them justice.
I found the contents of the cottage to be quite fantastic especially the books Nick has collected over the years. Books on Tiny Homes, Sheds, National Parks, the art of taking a dump in the forest and many more. The views from the deck are phenomenal as well.
Well done Nick. I'm sure your cabin has brought happiness to many others like its brought to us and so it shall to many more.

Loved our stay at Nick's cabin. One of the most unique experiences we've had on a bnb yet. Only 2.5 hrs from Sydney and plenty of stops along the way. Nick is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Lovely cabin in the bush with plenty to do and see both in and out of the cabin (including feeding ducks, possums, kangaroos, fish, yabbies and rosellas). Unless you're experience in 4wd'ing let Nick take you to the cabin though. Also, if you're thinking of going in the winter months pack warm clothes for when you're not around the fire at night. Enjoy the stay!

Oh, the serenity! If you're looking for a relaxing, off the grid getaway Nic's Cabin is just the place. A unique and beautifully crafted place where you're truly in contact with nature, yes it does feel like a zoo with an array of animals visiting you throughout the day. Adding to the ducks, kangaroos, possums, there's plenty of things to entertain you on your stay - board games, colouring books, movies, darts, hammocks, exercise equipment, a boat ... you name it. Nic is a 5* host, we were welcomed with a roller coaster trip on his 4WD and some treats at the cabin. And let’s be honest in the end of the day it does feel great to know that we are helping a charity. We will definitely return - one night is not enough - as there's plenty to see in the surrounding Capertee Valley.

We loved out stay from start to finish! Prior to our stay Nick was easy to contact and replied in timely manner. He was happy to give information on the local walks and parks that we planned on visiting. On arrival we followed Nick down to the cabin. The road is an off-road track which is quite steep at times, we have a Subaru Outback, this was just about able to manage it! What an experience! The cabin was clean throughout. Nick has thought of pretty much everything you would need on your stay. The place is amazing! The views are spectacular! There are wild animals everywhere! I was able to take some awesome photos of the surrounding area and stars at night! I would recommend this to everyone! There wasn't one negative to the whole weekend. We travelled to Capertee for my birthday (Nick left a card - nice touch), by the end of the weekend my girlfriend and I were engaged. What a special place!

Staying at this fabulous spot was terrific. Its total isolation and perfect peace in the middle of the beautiful bush. It’s an exciting ten-minute trip in Nicks four-wheel drive over very rugged terrain but then you come to this fabulous home. The house has obviously been built with love and passion and is full of interesting and entertaining personal touches and possessions. There is a great pot belly stove, and we were so comfortable and cosy at night. The bed was great with lots of warm quilts and nice linen. There was a well-stocked cupboard with all the bits and pieces one needs and we were given fresh eggs. It was great staying here and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves the bush, birds and wanting some beautiful peace and quiet. He also provided us with a bottle of champagne.

If you are looking for peace and quiet this place is perfect. The location in Capertee is quite remote and then the property itself is about a 10-minute drive from the road, completely surrounded by bushland. You won't see another person (apart from Nick and Viv on welcome and departure) during your stay, however you are likely to be visited by goannas, kangaroos, possums, chicken and ducks. While the cabin is rustic, it is equipped with some nice touches of luxury like a Nespresso machine, dishwasher, bbq, DVD player, indoor and outdoor shower (soooo good!), fireplace and more. We had such a relaxing stay and couldn't have asked for anything better. We've been recommending it to everyone and definitely plan to go back! 10/10 Also, Nick and Viv are so lovely!

The Bush Cabin was everything I'd hoped for and more! Nick was very welcoming after our long drive, and took the time to show us around and make us feel at home. We had an amazing view of the night's sky and the peace and quiet was perfect - we really felt like we were in the middle of nowhere, but with the luxury of lots of home comforts (guitar, hammocks, yoga mats, books and boardgames...) Off the grid, in the bush, no mobile reception, this is a true get-away from it all! And you can still do it in comfort because Nick and Viv have paid attention to all the little details, so everything you need is there.
The view is beautiful, the only sound is Nature and expect sightings of some wildlife too
And take a little time to get to know Nick and Viv, their hearts are made of gold!
My only regret is that I organised too many activities away from the cabin, we should've spent more time just relaxing and taking it all in.

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at the Bush Cabin. I can't stop raving about it to everyone who asks how my weekend was. Nick provides you with all the necessities like shampoo, conditioner, towels, bedding, firewood and ice plus more. Then he goes above and beyond with the luxuries such as the coffee pod machine, condiments like peanut butter, vegemite and s&p. Things we definitely didn't expect but really appreciated.
It is so so peaceful in the middle of nowhere. Unfortunately, the photos don't do the place any justice. It was very beautiful. On the cold nights we had the fire burning which made it even more enjoyable. Nice to getaway from the city and the stress of our mobiles.

We spent four nights at Nick's Retreat Cabin with our six-year-old and loved it. Rustic and Rural was the perfect way to escape the city noise and Pandemic. Every night we fed the kangaroos and possum and sat by the fireplace playing games and laughing, not a lot of that this year. Nick is an amazing host and makes sure his guests are happy and well catered for. He even joined us for dinner one evening during our stay. The small dam with a boat was a highlight and so much fun. Our daughter loved the cabin, bush, and Nick's dog Tink, she was crying when we had to leave. We've already booked a week's Christmas getaway and can't wait to go back. This is the perfect place to escape too when the noise of the city gets too much. Each day we ventured out to different places such as Mudgee and Rylstone. The walk from the cabin to HQ is breathtaking and we certainly got our daily exercise along the track. We loved every moment of our five-day escape.

I'm not sure what else I could say that hasn't already been said, except believe the hype! This was such a special experience that we won't likely find elsewhere. Nick was a fabulous host and made sure the stay was comfortable and fun. We're birders and he went the extra mile in recommending birding spots around his property, pointed out birds he's seen recently and even printed out a related article he found that day that he thought we might find interesting (we did).
The cabin itself is a once in a lifetime experience. If you're into wildlife then look no further, you're surrounded by it! We stayed for two nights and spent our days just relaxing, chatting, letting the birds come to us and slowing down. Not to mention the hours we spent watching the kangaroos, possums, goannas and ducks.
Honestly, this is what bnb is made for. Special experiences with a great host that you wouldn't be able to pick out of a guide book.

We absolutely LOVED the cabin. It was like a slice of heaven - away from the civilisation, absolutely quiet and serene. It was just us, the bush, animals (ducks, kangaroos, possums), the stars and the awesome warm house. Nick is a great guy, very helpful and warm hearted, showed us everything. He built the cabin with his two hands which is really impressive... and you can see/feel the love and effort that he put into it. There is a great fireplace, all cooking utensils (including oil, vegemite, s&p etc etc), board games, a guitar, many interesting books and much more to keep you entertained (if the Nature doesn't do the job :). It was PERFECT. I could not possibly ask for more. I will definitely be back very soon. THANK YOU NICK!

The van's location provides a good base for day trips to explore the World Heritage Wilderness area, wineries at Mudgee, The glow worm tunnel at Newnes, the Zig Zag Railway, Capertee National Park, plus many more. Note that the nearest corner store/pub is 14 km away, and the nearest town is 60 km away.
The van is fully contained with bathroom amenities, an equipped kitchen and rubbish facilities. No pets please.

The Studio is lovingly constructed from corrugated iron, with plywood interior walls. It has a high deck overlooking a beautiful bush gully. The Studio is situated in a serene, peaceful, healing and tranquil setting, ensuring a real break from everyday life. In the Capertee Valley NSW, in the Greater Blue Mountains. The property borders the Gardens of Stone National Park, and the views are spectacular. A drive through the valley is well worthwhile as the landscapes are beautiful and absolutely unique. The Cabin is situated in a serene, peaceful, healing and tranquil setting, ensuring a real break from everyday life. The space This is a self-contained cabin located in the Aussie bush 2.5 hours from Sydney, just across the Blue Mountains.

Fresh bedding is provided, along with soaps and shampoos. There is room for stretchers if required (no bedding provided). The toilet is indoors and just like home. The kitchen offers a small gas oven and cook top, coffee machine with coffee pods, coffee percolators, a toaster, a fridge and a gas BBQ on the deck. Note: There is NO internet/TV/radio service here and your mobile phone will not work, although phone coverage is available at various points nearby.

This place is magical! Tucked away in the bush, this little studio has everything you need for an escape from the city. The studio is just the right size - with two Queen beds, a comfy lounge area, a small kitchen and a cute bathroom. There are also so many extras which make it such a comfortable stay, like hammocks on the balcony (with beer holders!), Bluetooth speakers built into the roof, a coffee machine with pods, board games and a fireplace. You’ll also have a great time pointing out all the personal, artistic touches. There are brilliant views of gum trees, chickens and a dog to say hello to in the morning and lots of walks to try. There’s also a beer garden, a yacht club and a fire pit to check out. The host Nick is wonderful and provided us with a yummy bottle of sparkling + chocolate for our stay. You can feel all the love he’s put into this place. Cannot recommend this place more - we’ll definitely be back.

Nick’s place is like an oasis of wonder rising up from an otherwise non-descript dirt road.
From the kooky HQ that meets you when you enter, the grounds in which ostrich, guinea fowl, kangaroo roam or the unexpected touches that litter the property it’s a wonderland of quirks.
And then there’s the actual cabin, rustic and even more jam packed full of unique touches and character. A warm fire that keeps you very warm and an ample supply of books, DVDs and cds to make up for the lack of mobile service- a blessing.
And to top it off, Nick and Viv are the warmest, most hospitable hosts you will meet, with the largest of hearts and the warmest of smiles.
The weekend was a true delight and I could have never left the cabin.

Our stay at Nick's property was one of the most incredible and unique experiences we have ever had! We wanted an impromptu overnight getaway out of Sydney and could not have been happier with Nick's place. We stayed in the Studio Apartment, which was clean, spacious, had all of the necessary amenities, open but also with a lot of privacy - but the best part was just how much character the space had, as well as being built entirely using second hand materials. Not to mention the view! Upon arriving, Nick offered to show us around his property to the Cabin (we will be there next!), and we saw all sorts of wildlife as well as interesting little trinkets and statues he had adorned along the way. We enjoyed a beer or two in the quirky 'bar' nestled by HQ which was such a unique experience in itself. Nick and his wife Viv were more than accommodating, providing us with everything we needed as well as some great tips for stop off points along the way home. Could not recommend this stay more and we will definitely be back! Thanks so much Nick & Viv for such an awesome and memorable experience. Legends!

This quirky and rustic cabin is beautifully equipped with all the comforts of home including abundant hot water and even a dishwasher. It comes with a balcony overlooking a secluded valley with kangaroos and abundant birdlife. There is no wifi/internet or phone coverage, but the host lives behind and has a phone line if necessary. It's a perfect location for birders, being right on the Capertee bird trail but, when the eucalypts are flowering, the balcony and the walks on the property provides an abundance of sightings. Highly recommended!

Along with the pleasant Kinder surprise under our pillows, having a lack of mobile service was the next best surprise to stay completely off the grid for a little while. Seeing everything you've built over the past 9 years is absolutely remarkable. The energy is so warm and positive here, not forgetting the cleanliness is also immaculate. It is such a simple but lovely place, the track to the cabin is quite a challenging drive but after the first time became easier- definitely a good 4WD needed - or Nick is happy to transport you if it’s not for you but I enjoyed the challenge. Once there it’s so quiet and serene with awesome views and plenty of wildlife to meet.
It was great to be off grid and just play games or enjoy the peace. We left feeling totally decompressed and ready for our next adventure. Thanks Nick it was awesome.

Nic's Cabin.
Loved the quirky cabin, wildlife and gorgeous dog. The surroundings were beautiful and Nic was the perfect host.

Myself and boyfriend had a fantastic stay at the Capertree Bush Cabin, I wish we could have stayed for longer as one night did not feel long enough. We couldn't highly recommend it enough and we look forward to staying again in the future!

Nick’s cabin is the perfect break from a busy life where you can escape into another world with spectacular canyon views and a magical bright night sky. The cabin is fully stocked with everything you need and the outdoor shower is as wonderful as the indoor fire. I’ll definitely be back but for a few extra days as one night is just not enough. Thanks Nick for sharing your space.
