Swimming in North Fork Tule River, miles of hiking trails on ranch. River Ridge Ranch goes from 1,000' elev. to 3,000' elevation. Hike right on the ranch. We are between Sequoia National Park (about an hour) and the Giant Sequoia National Monument (16 miles to groves up Hwy 190 and no entrance fee). Choose from individual tent sites, group tent sites, tiny cabins. the 5-acre Compound or the Entire Ranch. We occasionally host small, thoughtful, low impact weddings. Please inquire. There are 33 giant sequoia groves in our Southern Region of the Giant Sequoia National Monument, some easily driven to, and some remote. Our ranch is a nature preserve and an education demonstration site, teaching sustainable and regenerative land use practices. River Ridge Institute, our non-profit, hosts a variety of events for the public. Please note: you are expected to leave the ranch and kitchen area as you found it, i.e., dishes washed thoroughly and dried and put away, recycling separated from trash, food scraps in compost buckets, sticky marshmallow removed from forks and surfaces (ick!). Homesteaded in 1859, owned by the Negus family from 1909-2000. Barbara and I bought it to save it from subdivision and it's now protected by a Conservation Easement and acts as a community center for the arts, music, poetry, gatherings and outdoor education. Use the self check-in.  TINY HOUSE with loft nestled among the oaks out in our pasture, plus TWO ADJACENT BUNKHOUSES, each sleeping four people. You can book a couple only or up to 10 people using Secluded and both bunkhouses. The Secluded Cabin is ideal for two adults. It has a sleeping loft and, if you can't climb the ladder, a sleeper/sofa downstairs.  Barbecue on the shade sail-covered deck. Great outdoor hot water shower. Dry composting toilet. This space is insanely gorgeous. During hot weather, the A/C can only be run until early evening as this is an off-the-grid battery solar cabin. Claw foot tub for cold water soaks! The bunkhouses use a portapotty nearby and they have their own cold water shower. They are designed for comfortable sleeping, but there are no cooking facilities inside and no electricity. Use the Secluded Cabin for that. Bring a headlamp or flashlight! Hike right from here on 722 acres! EVERYONE welcome. Swimming and fishing is seasonal.. Sycamore Arch Tent Site
We love our stay at sycamore arch tent site. We had enough space to fit 4 tents and site had benches and a hammock which came in handy. Short walk to turtle cove, restrooms and kitchen. The kitchen was fully stocked which made our trip so much easier. Had plenty of coolers and 2 big fridges. During our stay we had the whole campsite for ourselves. Firewood is provided for a donation. If you want to travel light and have an awesome glamping experience this is definitely a place for you. I would definitely recommend.

Gary’s campground was one of the most wonderful stays we’ve had on our camping adventures yet. Arriving, we were greeted by scrub jays, wild turkeys and more butterfly species than we could count. The common area has a wonderful feel to it, complete with local art, and the kitchen prep area has all the utensils and cooking supplies you could need (we wish we had packed nicer dinners to prep, with the combination of cooking gear available and the ambiance of the common area! ). The river was pristine, and watching the bluegills and turtles while listening to the frogs as we cooled down in the water was a wonderful experience. Bats and swallows greeted us at sunset each evening, and helped keep biting insects at bay (be sure to still use mosquito and tick repellent; theres plenty long grass and the bugs do come out at night by the river). We honestly couldn’t of been happier with the stay, and are already planning a return visit with friends!

Quercus Cabin
Cabin was great, right next to several other cabins and the toilet, not too far from the communal kitchen. Beds were comfy and clean. We were a little spooked by the baby rattlesnakes that are prevalent this time of year, but it's high enough to be slightly cooler than the rest of the valley and see the stars.

We loved this place. My 4 year old had a blast wondering around the camp. The river with a private beach is amazing. The cabin was super nice, very quiet, very secluded. The full kitchen and refrigerator was also a nice touch. Great base camp. The camp has WiFi so that’s nice. Close to town and right off the 190. We will be back for sure

Campsite was shady and quiet at the far end of the property. Kitchen area had everything for preparing a meal plus seating for groups. Restrooms were basic but served the purpose. Good communication with hosts.

Safe solo secluded sanctuary

River Ridge Ranch is a deeply special sanctuary, and the Cottonwood Cabin is the perfect place to truly disconnect and immerse yourself in nature. The property is surrounded by breathtaking, ancient trees and the peaceful, soothing sound of the river, making it an incredible backdrop for anyone looking to rest, reflect, and recharge. While I took this particular trip solo, the layout and beautiful surroundings would also make it a fantastic getaway for a group of friends. Gary is a wonderful, thoughtful host who has created a unique and supportive environment for quiet reflection. If you are looking for a magical place to touch base with the earth and clear your mind, I highly recommend staying here!

The Entire Ranch!
The site is poorly managed. Basics, like keeping the toilets cleaned by waste management, following through on early promises made, cleaning our the cabins before newcomers arrive were all over looked. Participants were left to fend for themselves as Gary was not around or available. Poor communication. The place is beautiful. Everything went as it needed to go, but leaving us to fend for ourselves was not helpful.

We had an amazing stay at the Two Story Cabin The place is peaceful, beautiful, and perfect for a relaxing getaway surrounded by nature. Everything was well organized, clean, and exactly as described. A special thanks to Gary , he is such a kind and helpful host. A Writer’s Dream Escape

Gary was an excellent host. The ranch is absolutely incredible scenery, a perfect writing retreat! I was comfortable in the cabin I chose and I felt safe on the property. The camp has Gary’s installation art scattered throughout, a community center with shared kitchen and a large fire pit. There’s nice trails and easy access to the creek. We had such an amazing stay here! What we loved most was how secluded and private it felt. It’s the perfect place to truly unplug and relax, yet it still offers great amenities that made our stay comfortable. We camped in our pop-up truck tent, and the space felt peaceful and spacious. The outdoor showers were a great touch, and the huge communal fire pits made evenings feel cozy and welcoming. There’s also a shared kitchen area and BBQs, which made cooking easy and convenient. The property has beautiful hiking trails and access to the river, which made it feel like a true nature getaway. It was quiet, serene, and exactly what we were looking for. Gary is also a great host and very responsive. If you’re looking for a peaceful escape with just the right balance of rustic charm and comfort, this is it. We’ll definitely be back!

Cottonwood Cabin
My girlfriend and I really enjoyed staying at the Cottonwood cabin! It was a nice cozy space and the scenery was sooo beautiful! I got to enjoy my breakfast on a big rock by the river and it was the perfect way to start my day. The restrooms were really nice and well kept! Overall it was a super comfortable lodging experience.

It was a great experience coming here! A lot to do around and a good price for what you get. While the two story cabin was just two beds, the best part was the grounds that you get.

Sierra Foothills Group Camp

The Entire Ranch!
Our group loved the Whole ranch, it was perfect for us. This Ranch is good for groups it already has a Pavilion for gathering. A big Kitchen to cook and store your food… The land is beside a river good for swimming… Restrooms and hit showers are also available… Overall all we have a very good experience… And Gary was very understanding and took very good care of our group.. I would definitely recommend this place.. Thank You Gary!

Turtle Flat Tent Site
We loved our time here! The turtle flat site had plenty of flat space for our 10 person tent and was close enough to the river to hear it at night and see it by day. The beach was easily accessible and a great spot for our 3.5 yr old to play. The fully equipped kitchen made meal prep pleasant and easy. And the communal cooking and campfire was a good way to meet and talk to other guests. It was easy to walk to all the amenities and parking was relatively close to our site as well. We would come back and recommend to friends.

The Entire Ranch!
The Ranch is so well cared for and it shows. Gary is a wonderful steward of the land. We were looking for a peaceful getaway and we found it. The location is convenient and includes everything you need to be comfortable. We're already planning next year's visit.

Sycamore Arch Tent Site
What a beautiful, thoughtfully planned place. Kitchen had toaster for bagels and electric kettle for coffee , ( also other coffee making options). Grills fridge, well stocked kitchen area. We relaxed at night lullabied by the river sounds. We enjoyed the swimming beach the next day, plenty of chairs for lounging. Gary has a fantastic property and will definatly book again. I highly recommend.
