John J.'s Land was my first experience with HipCamp. With a lot of public lands closed due to Covid-19, this spot was a perfect last minute escape for an otherwise busy July 4th weekend. John met us upon arrival and gave us a tour of his newly finished grounds. It was a cool experience to stay during the beginning of John's setup. Our area was clean of trash and debris, level, and picnic area shaded. We had a peaceful couple nights stay -- nothing but the sounds of trains in the distance. Overall a good primitive camping experience!
What a wonderful 2 nights. I wanted to take my kids camping before school starts but with "first come first serve" and a car load of kids, I wasn't willing to risk it. John's place was beautiful, secure, and charming. John himself was so attentive and wanted to make us feel at home. His concern for the kids was very kind. He even brought us a horseshoe game so the kids wouldn't get bored. (which I assured him, I was actually counting on and hoping for) Boredom is just not knowing what you want to do next, but-they loved the horseshoes, and the stars and the gas fire pit (i highly recommend getting). We all are looking forward to going back. The sites themselves were well planned out and spaced for privacy and convenience. John has put a lot of thought and effort into making it as nice as possible. I can't see you not enjoying the quiet and serenity of the spot. cheers.

This sites were excellent and spread out. Very cool property and convenient setup. Very easy. We were on a road trip and needed to stop for one night. John was very nice and welcomed us, and wore a mask the whole time. It was hazy because of the fires but in the evening the sky cleared and the stargazing was outstanding. We could see the Milky Way and slept very comfortably with zero noise. Would stop here again!
Beautiful camping area nestled in the trees and lots of mountain views. There were all the basic necessities and John tells me he is going to be adding hot outdoor showers, wi-fi, and more facilities. I will be visiting later to see the improvements.
The property is gorgeous. Sites are well kept and amenities are great. Would definitely recommend a visit.
Great camping area and super friendly host! It was exactly what we were looking for!!
We had a great time at John's mountain retreat. It was really nice to get away for the weekend, and this was the perfect spot. It was peaceful and isolated, yet still close enough to town and natural landmarks. John was very welcoming, friendly, and helpful - a great host!
John was wonderful. You can truly tell he cares about the land and nature. He built the amazing main house by himself and, has a couple properties on airbnb as well as, the campground. He met us with a mask and, stayed his distance, while telling us all about the property and, we didn't see anyone else which, was exactly what we needed. The camping area was clean and, he had an out house, power and hose set up at the beginning of the property. We will definitely be back to see John, and check out the Loop and, the German Bakery.
