Located between Rockhampton and Emu Park beach. 711 Thompson Point Road Nankin Our campsites are located in a rural setting with plenty of shady trees, friendly cows and mountain views close to the Fitzroy River. Relax around a campfire on a peaceful dam and listen to the kookaburras. Dip your toes into the cool water whilst sipping watching the sunset. It is 10km to the upgraded Fitzroy River/Thompson Point boat ramp and pontoon. Enjoy some excellent fishing and crabbing on the river, bird watching and bush walking up the many hills. Only 1/2 hr. drive to the beaches (Emu Park and Yeppoon), National Parks (Mt Etna Caves, Mt Archer Baga, Limestone Creek), and Rockhampton (Kershaw Gardens and Rockhampton Free Zoo). Campfires in the firepits provided on each site. Pre-cut fire wood for sale on site. Pets are welcome, however the must be kept within your allocated campsite area and supervised at all time. (Dogs are not allowed to chase livestock or native animals). Quiet genset are also allowed. Definitely no boats to be backed into the dam for washing purposes. Fish cleaning and boat washing facilities at the solar bore near front entrance. Telstra mobile reception. TV reception with antenna. We a setup for fully self contained camping, however there is a basic bush shower/toilet available for our campers. The dam is a pristine eco area and no soap/detergents/chemicals to used in/around it. The dam is stocked with silver perch and bass – catch and release. Camp site caters for 2 Adults and up to 4 kids per site. Come and Take-A-Break.

Beautiful and peaceful camp. Heaps of birdlife and fish. Handy to town. Loved our 3 nights. New toilet and shower being connected as we left so even better for those not self sifficient. We will be back.

We loved roof top camping here. Morning sunrise was awesome with some cows off in the distance. Location is great and directions were super easy to find. Site 8 was nice and level with a fire pit. Ian and Tracey were great hosts. We will definitely be back here!

Ian and Tracy’s place was a peaceful, well-organised spot that made my first Hipcamp stay an easy yes to recommend. ## Peaceful setting - The setting had a calm, **quiet** feel that made it very easy to switch off and relax. - The site offered a real sense of space and privacy, so it never felt crowded or rushed. ## Well organised campsite - Everything was clearly set up and simple to navigate, from arrival through to finding the campsite and facilities. - The space was tidy and well cared for, which added to the feeling of comfort and ease during the stay. ## Helpful, welcoming hosts - Ian and Tracy were genuinely friendly and responsive, happy to answer questions and make sure everything went smoothly. - Their communication and guidance meant there was no stress, just a relaxed stay on land they clearly appreciate and look after. ## For future Hipcampers - Expect a peaceful, private place to unwind, with plenty of room to enjoy nature. I'm looking forward to returning in the winter to use the fire pits.

What a peaceful and relaxing location! Very welcome bush shower and toilet, gorgeous views and just a serene stopover, exactly what we needed. Great directions and considerate hosts. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stayed at Site 5, overlooking the dam, and it was so peaceful and relaxing. We loved meeting the friendly cows and farm dogs, and our Labrador, Ralphy, especially enjoyed cooling off in the dam — a perfect escape from the heat. The setting was beautiful, the atmosphere tranquil, and the hosts were just the right balance between warm hospitality and privacy. A truly lovely stay.

Such a stunning spot — we caught both sunset and sunrise right from camp! Surrounded by beautiful wildlife and the kindest hosts (plus the lovely couple helping out on the property). Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. 🌅🌄✨

Absolutely fab stay!! Ended up booking for a second night on our way back down from Daintree. Stunning place to fish and wake up to. Plus, very spacious and quiet site with everything you need :) would highly recommend!

Lovely spot, allocated a space by phoning Ian on arrival to find out where we were staying. Easy to find. 2WD accessible Unfortunately, the drop loo is in a cow field and all the cows had congregated next to it overnight and seemed distressed at us getting close to the gate which meant we didn’t feel safe to use the loo

Great place to stay. Very quiet and peaceful. Close to Rockhampton for dump point , water and other sight seeing. . Kids swam in the dam and caught yabbies and fish. Hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Ice , firewood and even eggs for sale on site. Highly recommend

Great little spot away from the city. The cows were adorable and the set up was well thought out. Bush amenities for those in tents or wanting to save room in their RVs and plenty of wood available at the honesty box. Even though there was a dam and reeds, the sand fly situation was pretty low due to heaps of dragon flies. The hardest part was trying to find a level enough ground to park the van but even that wasn’t too much trouble. Definitely recommend this place for couples and families and if I were to head that way again, I’d definitely rebook.
