Montauk Campground boasts hiking trails that will take you around the scenic Pigeon Creek basin, tours of a historic mill built in 1896, and beautiful scenery, but the true destination at Montauk State Park is premier trout-fishing—one of the best in the Midwest. The campgrounds are located an easy distance from St. Louis, and the park’s waters are stocked each night from an on-site hatchery. Pack up your picnic and shove your friends into the car, we’re going fishing.

This is a decent state park campground. There are numerous spots with varying amounts of scenery, some right near the river. The campground has a lodge with a small restaurant and store. Montauk is a Missouri trout park and so fishing is the primary activity - rainbow and brown trout. Noise can be an issue as it is at any larger campground. Cell coverage is good and WiFi is available throughout the camp as well.
