Nancy has created a little slice of heaven for a passing camper in one of the most incredible and beautiful places in the USA. The site is secluded and individual, but has an amazing tent platform & stairs to access. There's space to back straight up to the site, which was awesome for moving gear. We loved having the campfire, especially to help with bugs! Definitely bring bug spray, they are forceful. There's also water hookup right at site and electric! This is truly a gem, and I would camp there again any day. I hope everyone gets to experience the park through this site.
What a cute, little spot. My girlfriend and I had a great time camping at Balsam Way Campsite. A few things we loved were: it's quiet at night, the stars are easy to see and beautiful, the wooden platform for the tent is a great idea, there was enough privacy that we could use the shower set up easily, and having the fire pit already set up helped us not need to do a lot.
Some things I think campers should know are: The platform is not very large. We have a 3 person tent and it filled up the space on the platform with a little room on the edges for the mosquito candles. The site is directly on the side road with other properties on it. We rarely had people driving by… and I mean RARELY, but it’s not as offset as I predicted. Nevertheless, those are simply things to know. Overall, the site is great for a quick set up and to get straight to the hiking in Acadia. Peaceful. The host was lovely and helped us out when we had questions. I would recommend to anyone. Also, the twinkle lights in the back made the spot extra cozy. AND the host kindly provided little tiki torches with mosquito repellent in it as well
