My fiancé and I took a weekend trip away here and it was wonderful! All three sites are beautiful. We also loved how private it was. It was very relaxing. We will most definitely being staying here again in the future! 5 stars!
A wonderful retreat from the chaos. I really liked the location as it was a quick drive from the interstate. Glasgow is close also. The lake access is clearly marked and the swimming hole is perfect. There is a flat sandstone area for sunning or fishing. It drops off quickly but I would not recommend diving. The water is clean and there is a small area to launch a canoe or kayak. I am 60 and I had no trouble getting down to the lake but some might struggle.
The firewood provided was incredible. I felt guilty about burning it. It appeared to be seasoned hardwood that lit quickly and created a hot slow-burning fire that barely created any smoke. I was the best wood I have ever burned! This alone was worth the price of admission!
The lake and a nearby two lane road create some noise that I did not find objectionable at all.
In summation, this was my first hip camp and I am hooked. Access to private land is a privilege and I am grateful to Aaron and his family for trusting me to access his property.
Aaron was a great host, very kind. He made sure we had everything we needed, and grabbed us a heaping pile of excess firewood when he requested some. You have lots of space and it’s a great place to disconnect for a weekend. Would recommend staying with Aaron!
Peaceful and private near mammoth!
This place exceeded our expectations. Aaron was very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable. For the low price and close proximity to Mammoth Cave Natl. Park I expected there to be a "catch" but we found none. The land is very secluded and the sites provide excellent privacy and solitude as they are a separated by distance, hill, and trees. No other campground around provides that privacy. We stayed at Site 1 as it had the best place to lay our large tent (between 1 and 2. Didn't see 3). We couldn't get into the lake from Site 1 but did find a spot in the trees to sit and just gaze across the lake.
Sunset, stars and tranquility
Staying on Aaron's farm was a real treat! We loved the time spent here and hope to stay again some time. We stayed at site 1--very secluded. Great views of the lake from there but no access. There is some access to the lake at site 2, however. Aaron was a great host--checked in via text the day of our arrival and came to check on us on day 2. We enjoyed the peace, the sunsets and the star gazing the most.
This was the perfect spot for what I needed. No frills. No lights. Private. Open sky. Aaron was really helpful offering a water spigot where I could fill up before I left. Beautiful moonrise over the lake. Really enjoyed my stay.
Spent a couple nights here on site 2 and it was amazing. The road to the camp site was a little bumpy but my SUV had no trouble handling it. This site was on a slight hill but my tent was able to be pitched with no problem. Plus, Aaron gave me the opportunity to move my tent to any other site as a I had the whole camp grounds to myself. I will definitely come back again.
