110% stay here!
I fell in love with this place as soon as I met Debbie and her husband (and the pups of course). They were so kind as to show me around the property and all the best places to camp. A couple creeks run through and you'll find all sorts of wildlife.
The hosts run a working farm so eggs and artisan/homemade breads are always there for purchase. A private shower is located right behind the house with a toilet and sink you're welcome to use. I stayed by the pond and was able to wake up around 2am to look at the gorgeous stars.

I can't say enough nice things about this place, you'll just have to experience it on your own!

oh hey there I am!He was my welcoming committee I had to stop to snag a photo of these cute scarecrow. You may find these little guys on your way in to Bear Creek!imagine your tent here...

We had such a wonderful stay at Bear Creek Farm and Ranch. Debbie and Matt were above and beyond terrific hosts, making our short stay there a highlight of a 3 week road trip. We are already wanting to plan a trip to go back. Anyone would be lucky to stay at Bear Creek Farm and Ranch.

This was a perfect place to stay. The couple made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, even allowing us to stay in their cottage when it was rainy out. They even went on a hike and made burgers with us! We learned a lot and hope to return again soon.

My family includes myself, my wife, two boys (11 and 8) and two dogs. I am a professor at a top ten university, and very engaged in reaching out into the world and showing my sons how the world works and how wonderful people can be. Debbie and Matt Daniels are extraordinary people, they have created a wonderful place, and welcomed us into their world, so that within a few mins we all felt comfortable, welcome, and safe. They went out of their way to make sure the experience was comprehensive and amazing. We arrived, and the rain threatened, so they provided an indoor option, we wanted to learn how to make bread, so they taught our kids how to do it. They provided hay bail rides, 4x4 trailer rides, lessons in local fruit and soil health. They told scary stories to the boys, and provided us with food and drink to make sure we had an amazing time. They provided boating options on their extensive lake and provided fishing polls and helped us how to find bait, so everyone in our family learnt how to fish - sucessfullly!!!

They introduced us to their horses and animals and made us feel at home. My family has not has such an engaged and wonderful camping trip ever. A high bar has been set - I don’t see how any place could match it.

Thank you so much - wonderful!!!!

The farm and property were the perfect intro for me to a part of the country I never knew. Southern Illinois is a garden. Lush landscape and friendly people.

The question is not if I can make it back, but when.

Debbie and Matt are some of the kindest, most generous, and friendliest people we have ever met. Being at their peaceful farm was like being with family, and we hope to visit again soon! Also, be sure to buy some of their cookies and eat them frozen...they were the best frozen cookies ever!

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Bear Creek! Debbie and Matt were so extremely welcoming from the second we arrived, we immediately felt at home! They sell fresh baked breads, a selection of fresh and frozen meats, eggs and cookies! Their farm is beautiful, and they are more than willing to show you around, and share their wealth of knowledge! They also offer a bathroom with a shower as needed, which was so wonderful! Our campsite was in a beautiful, quiet location and we had privacy! We had an exceptional stay, and plan to visit again!

A group of friends and I needed a reprieve from the city of Chicago after being travel-less for 2020 -- saw Debbie and Matt's property listing here on HipCamp and took a chance.

Boy are we sure glad we did.

The camp site we chose (Site 3) was perfect. Shaded and woodsy. Firewood and meat (which we actual bought some when leaving) is available on site -- As well as some excellent baked goods and vegetables. We grilled, we hiked, we watched the stars, it was the perfect trip.

Debbie and Matt are phenomenally accommodating hosts. In fact, this property is SO good that we joked about not sharing anything with friends so it could remain our own best kept secret -- But that would be a disservice to Debbie and Matt's hard work and hospitality. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Point is -- If you need a break -- This is the spot. A++++++++++++++
