Many moons ago, the Apple River traveled through limestone canyons and created giant cliffs towering above the crystal clear waters. When you stand on the ravine and gaze at the rock, colors will boast themselves. Cast a line from the shores or picnic near the banks and listen to the water sing! Apple River campground grants easy access to trails for all levels—whether you just learned to hike or are an epic mountain climber, all are welcome. Alcohol is a no-no on the grounds, so make sure you’re set to get your natural mojo going. With a little stargazing and wildflower viewing in the cards, you’ll be feelin’ oh-so-good.

I don't think the place marker on this map is correct as the campground at Apple River Canyon is inside the park. Nevertheless, this is a decent campground with lots of shade but no running water, just pit toilets. Great dayhiking, especially Tower Rock.
