Once run by the state but is now managed by VAA.
The beautiful Blueberry Lake campground on Thompson Pass has spectacular 360-degree mountain views. 21 sites are available (1-17 on a paved loop road) near the lake. Vault toilets and a water pump are available for use. Several sites work well as group camping sites. There are no RV hookups or pull-throughs. Pets and generators are allowed. Bring your own firewood.
The McAllister cabin, at the mouth of Shoup Bay Marine State Park, is best accessed by kayak or boat. There is a narrow, tide dependent channel that leads to the inner lagoon where Moraine and Kittiwake cabins are located. Kayaks recommended for access.

Eagles Rest RV Park & Cabins is located at 139 East Pioneer Drive in beautiful Valdez, Alaska! Awesome scenery surrounds the park- the pristine Prince William Sound to one side, misty towering waterfalls clambering down the incredible majestic peaks on all sides! Eagles gently soar through the sky in search of food for their young. Eagle’s Rest RV Park is really much more than just a place to park the ol’ RV.
Stroll through the Valdez Museum, around the small boat harbor, through many local gift shops or hike/bike our scenic trails. Eagle’s Rest RV Park can do all the Bookings and Ticketing for the Columbia/Mears Glacier Tours, Helicopter Tours, Fishing Charters and Rafting Trips. We do suggest advance reservations for all in the month of July.

Weekend Trip to Valdez Adventure Alliance
Moraine cabin is beautiful! They had recently done trail maintenance which cleared the view of Shoup Glacier. The cabin and outhouse were clean. The heater was not needed in July. I recommend paddling to the cabin so you can then kayak or canoe out to the glacier. We paddled out early one morning and were able to see seals!

Weekend Trip to Valdez Adventure Alliance
We decided to beach the boat and settle in for a bonfire during low tide. We saw a sea dragon, talked with an otter for a few minutes, watched a tree just stand up and walk into the forest, a small pale child sat at the fire with us for almost an hour, and then a woman (probably his mom) swam by really, really fast. 100/100 recommend.

This is the third time we have stated these cabins in Shoup Bay. We travel down from Fairbanks and enjoy a day or two in the Valdez area and then travel out to these cabins usually for two nights. We enjoy paddle boarding and zodiac-ing around in the bay in front of the cabins, we also hike over to the glacier and enjoy watching all of the waterfalls come down the mountain behind the cabins. we found the cabins to be comfortable and dry. We found the trail in between the cabins had been recently cleared about 8 to 10 feet wide. Just remember to bring a couple of gallons of diesel fuel for the drip stoves. Or kerosene. A wonderful In state cabin trip. Will be back to do it again.

This cabin is nice, kerosene stove, 4 bunks. Table for eating. Lots of clothes lines to hang wet clothes.
Dry wood is always tricky to procure in Valdez. I would recommend you bring some. It is not provided with the cabin.
I also would bring lots of bug repellant, bug nets, and long sleeve shirts.

The cabin was great, exactly what we were looking for. That said, the info on the hipcamp site was short, confusing, and not super helpful for planning. We did get a more detailed email a few weeks before outlining fuel/stove parameters, landing, access and so on - but really that info is necessary early on. Would strongly recommend someone update the site so most folks can plan accordingly in a more reasonable timeframe. As far as the cabin, would also suggest posting food storage, clean up, and water advice in the cabin - we found lots of leftover food, a mouse/squirrel and now bee nest in the fuel box, and lots of dog hair. We packed out more trash than we brought in. A broom is provided, but lets be honest, not everyone rocks a 'leave it better than ya found it' attitude for unmaintained cabins. Would recommend this cabin for sure and hipcamp is very responsive - but def do your research!

5 nights at Valdez Adventure Alliance
We have been going to McAllister Cabin for several years now. Always a wonderful place to camp in Valdez. The trail to the outhouse can get a little overgrow, but keep in mind you are in the wild sleeping in a remote cabin. But it nothing to deter our trip. If you take your own boat, make sure you pay attention to the tide chart. No one wants to get beached and miss out on fishing! Don't forget your toilet paper, rain gear, board games, and heating fuel. Don't underestimate the temperatures in the summer months. It still gets chilly in the evening. Another great adventure on the books~

The McAllister cabin is in a great location. Easy to access by boat with a stream nearby. Both the cabin and outhouse were clean and in good working order. The Kerosene stove works great.
Our group of 7 fit comfortably. Tight at times, but the front porch added additional room to relax even while raining.

Loved the cabin! Dry, clean, and comfortable. It’s the past mudflats and the straight, then it’s the first cabin on the right. Watch for the ice and make sure to check the tides to make it the last 1.5miles if ur coming in by boat.
