TOM'S REST was created by Tom's wife Cheryl in an effort to carry out their plans to provide respite for those in need. Tom Edwards worked tirelessly for years to clear this wild recreation space where he planned to live while helping others. Tom suddenly and unexpectedly passed February 2, 2015 while in the process of making his move to Sisters with his High School sweetheart of 45 years. Cheryl continued his passion and their dream to make this a place for those in need as a way to honor the most giving man she ever knew. This process has brought some healing and it is our hope to continue that healing for others in need from life's many trials. Anyone having a grief, widows/widowers, caregiver, cancer, hospice or other group that would like to have their group listed should message us as well. These respite visits are short getaways to refuel and support individuals during tough times. Those that come to enjoy Tom's Rest will hopefully gain some needed respite. Most feel they are pretty much 'on their own' in this retreat area with the option for seclusion OR mingling if so desired. My deepest thanks to all who have stood alongside through this journey and continue to do so. May we collectively create TOM'S REST with Tom's intention and the passion he infused in us to carry it through to fulfillment.

Ready for Pickleball? Corn Hole? Table Tennis? Badminton? All this onsite for your use. Site 2 is located on the ridge next to a cedar Fence along the Solar Area. Depending on how you site your RV, you have forest and Mtn. views. There is an area with hammock and sitting between the two RV sites, then the labyrinth and campfire areas in front of both of those sites that faces West to the mountains. The home on the property is situated down the road to the North end of the property. You are surrounded by acres of wilderness and BLM land as well. Nearby Fryrear Trailhead offers more areas to explore, all the way to Cline Butte. Both RV areas have use of the gathering room for games, TV or reading and relaxing. Although rarely used, there is also some exercise equipment in this room and an old 1800s upright grand piano. Feel free to read the books and enjoy all this room has to offer while respecting all items for the use of others to come. Thank you.

Site 5 is a larger area nestled in the trees at the very top back of the hill. You will see the sign for it on the right, just as you curve to the left at the very top of the gravel rd entrance. There is a picnic table in the trees for your use. Depending on the size of your vehicle/tent, you may be able to pull in and turn around and not back in. The bathroom is located by the solar building a short walk past the cabin area.

Site 4 is just past Site 5 on the right, nestled in the trees and a smaller space than 5 but plenty for most needs. Both dry sites have great mountain and valley views with sunsets. It is a short walk to the solar building where the bathroom is,.

What a beautiful and tranquil spot! Cheryl is super helpful and accommodating; even loaning us a ladder and tools so we could make a quick repair on the roof of the RV. The site is on top of a ridge with great views of the Sisters and provides stunning sunsets. The driveway is a bit steep and gravel. If you have a big RV such as a Class A or Super C be sure to watch the tree branches. Blocks and/or levelers will likely be needed. We were in the site next to the solar shed which is a nice, full hookup site. The other full hookup site is next to the cabin but I would be inclined to inquire about backing up to the north side of the cabin to get the full scenic view from the RV. We really appreciate Cheryl sharing her little oasis with us!

Camping in our VW Eurovan in site 5

We had an absolute blast at the site. We were fortunate enough to have met our host Cheryl and she took the time to show us around. She is AMAZING. Our site (5) was perfect for my wife and I who have a vw Eurovan. We were expecting to see some stars, but overwhelmed by how many we got to see when we were there. It was very nice to get away from the city lights. Thanks again Cheryl! :)

Our stay at Tom’s Rest was beautiful and very peaceful. Cheryl was super easy to communicate with and made sure we had everything we needed. This was a very quiet campsite and we had some decent shade from the trees throughout the day. Great stay!

Excellent stay

Cheryl was absolutely lovely and the camping space was beautiful. Will be back. We cannot thank her enough for her hospitality and willingness to work with us adding an extra person. It was great to have running water and a working toilet also!

We had a great overnight stay at Tom’s Rest. There’s great views of the mountains across the road from the campsite, Cheryl was very responsive to messages, and our dog appreciated being able to explore the grounds with us while off leash. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a campsite near Sisters or Bend.

Great location and beautiful views!! You can see like every mountain in the area from Tom’s Rest. Cheryl was very quick to respond and easy to communicate with. She has made the destination everything it is, and she has one of the best, friendly labs too. 🐶🏔️

This is a spectacular property with magnificent views of the mountains. It's quiet and peaceful, and there's plenty of space between campsites. We spent one night in our van, and felt absolutely safe and comfortable.

Cheryl's land and home are sights to see. She was so accommodating in every way for our group. Her passion for her home and what it offers is reflected in the smallest to the most significant of ways. I wish we could have spent more time here enjoying the wildlife, the wind, the location and the company. If she will have us, we will be back!

Site 1

Cheryl has a beautiful property and she is the consummate Hipcamp host. We arrived on a very cold and windy day, so she checked on us to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. She has lots to do there, including a labyrinth, which we walked. We would love to come again one day.

We loved camping on Cheryl’s land! She has great dependable electricity, very clean area, pickleball and volleyball. The views are breathtaking and Cheryl is a warm and friendly host. We will definitely return! Such a gem!

Tom’s Rest

We enjoyed Cheryl’s warm welcome and the lovely setting at Tom’s Rest. The view of the snow-capped mountain peaks is spectacular! We camped in a pop-up trailer and made use of the water and electricity at site 1 and appreciated having the toilet and sink in the shop available a short walk away. Thank you Cheryl!

Incredible Stargazing

A beautiful place to camp

The very first thing that struck me about this place was the view of the mountain peaks. The sunset there was like no other I have seen, and there were so many good options of places to sit and watch. There were so many small details that made this space relaxing, too many to list, but it is clear that a lot of love was poured into this place to make it special for people to enjoy.

A Fantastic Place

A fantastic stay at Cheryl’s place. She’s done so much to the property to make your stay special. Quiet, meditative, incredible landscape, can witness the rise and setting of the sun. Consider yourself fortunate if you can book a stay here.
