Nestled in the heart of southeast North Carolina and conveniently located an hour from Wilmington, Jacksonville and Fayetteville — our 40+ acre family land is situated directly on historic Black River. Well known for its beautiful trees, wildlife and fisheries, Black River is also home to the oldest bald cypress forest in the world, many being alive hundreds of years before Jesus walked the earth. We are the only riverfront camping experience on Black River so we aim to provide you the best views, the most exceptional hospitality (from hosts Lisa and Eric), with hopes that you leave completely happy with our little piece of heaven and wanting to return year after year!

Site 0 is the northern area of our riverside property. It includes sites 1 and 2 and allows a bit larger group by utilizing the northern most underutilized area. This area has 3 picnic tables, 3 trachcans and 3 fire-rings and a park style grill. This large area is a bit separated from the other sites with beautiful views and immediate access to the river. Call or message beforehand to discuss any potential for tiny tow-behinds or camper vans.

My partner and I had a great experience tent camping on Lisa's land. The site was beautiful and there was abundant wildlife around camp—great for birding. The instructions were clear and there was plentiful firewood available for purchase by the host. We were hesitant at first about the portable toilets but they turned out to be very clean and much nicer than we expected.

I came here in February to do Solo camping. I liked it so much I booked Memorial weekend for my family. I came prepared to target Catfish. I caught 5 Catfish and 2 Gar. My wife and Daughter Tubed in the river and did some swimming. River is clean and clear despite being named the Black River. Lisa the Host is the Nicest person and drives around Periodically just to check on everyone. We will definitely be back.

Lisa’s site was great! Clean porta-potties, personal picnic tables, garbage cans, & fireplaces. Easy access to the creek. Land was spaced out enough so you didn’t feel on top of people! She was so nice and came around and greeted everyone and gave us a sticker!

We really enjoyed our stay at Site 1. There was a lot of space around us, and we walked up to the pond area for a bit to enjoy sunset. The river was a little shallow since we hadn't had much rain, but it was still fun to wade around. The other campers there were very courteous and kind, and Lisa herself was extremely communicative (she even offered a more private site option if we wanted it, since we had neighbors at site 2!) It was very pleasant and would definitely camp here again.

Camp Site 12 at Black River was exactly the kind of camping trip I love. Super quiet, private, and felt like you were way out in the middle of nowhere in the best way possible. We heard owls at night, coyotes off in the distance, and even saw a snake swimming through the river which the kids thought was awesome. Mom and the kid saw a beaver swimming from their canoe. The fishing was good too — lots of catfish fishing at night. One of the best parts was taking the canoe up and down the river, pulling off on different shores, and exploring around. The whole river has this wild prehistoric untouched feeling with the huge cypress trees and black water. Sitting around the fire at night listening to the woods was hard to beat. If you like real camping, fishing, exploring, and getting away from everything for a few days, Site 12 is a great spot. Lisa the host is extremely nice and friendly. I’ve already booked our second trip! This time for three three nights!

Awesome camp ground!! Lisa was helpful with any questions. Clean and fellow campers were polite and friendly. Great views seen beavers and one of the kids caught a 10lbs catfish. Kids had a blast riding bikes around. Walking and floating down the river. Definitely will be returning. Thank you

Wonderful camp spot. Our site was right on the water and spaced nicely from other campers. I love the public area Beach and kayak launch. It's a very beautiful stretch of river. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back.

Fantastic peaceful spot on the river! Lisa came by and was super helpful to make our stay go well. We had site 12, last site on the camp road so pretty private. My lads and I enjoyed our evening immensely.

This spot is spacious & relaxing. I went kayaking up the river 2.7 miles with my friends & 2 dogs & it was a blast. I can tell this spot would make for some great fishing as well. We’ll have to come back & do that next time. This campground & its facilities are also kept so clean. You couldn’t ask for a better experience.

We had an awesome stay at Black River Camping Ventures, camping at Site 11. This spot is easily one of our favorite local getaways. The campsite itself is quiet, well laid out, and perfect for a relaxing weekend outdoors. We spent a few hours fishing and caught plenty of nice-sized bream, which made the trip even better. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, enjoy the scenery, and just have a good time without needing much else. Great atmosphere, great fishing, and an all-around solid experience. If you’re looking for a peaceful spot to camp and unwind, Site 11 is definitely worth booking. We’ll definitely be coming back for years to come.

Black River Adventure Hipcamp is the BEST. It is right on the river across from an over 1,000 year old cypress tree forest. And Lisa, the host is wonderful and makes sure all your needs are taken care of.
