Camp out on a working woodland mushroom farm! Located within 3 miles of the Finger Lakes National Forest, Hawk Meadow Farm includes over 60 acres of woods, fields and a pristine stream. There are 2 quiet, spacious and private campsites available on the property. A generous supply of dry firewood is included with your booking. We believe that a good fire is a prerequisite for any camping experience! Facilities include a composting toilet outhouse and potable water.
We offer tours of our shiitake operation for $10.00 per person. Tours last about an hour. Also, be sure to visit our farm store while you are here! We make maple syrup, dried shiitake mushroom powder, medicinal mushroom tinctures, mushroom vinegar, herbal handmade soaps and of course we generally have fresh shiitakes- all for sale! We can have fresh shiitakes waiting for you when you arrive- just let us know by email.
Only 30 minutes from Ithaca, NY and 15 minutes to Watkins Glen or Trumansburg, the farm is situated between Cayuga Lake and Seneca Lake in the heart of the Finger Lakes wine country. Our property is at the end of a dead end road so it is very quiet and private, yet close to fine restaurants, wineries, the lakes and hiking!

This was my second time staying at the mushroom farm. I love camping here, its so peaceful and lovely to look up at the stars at night. I had a lot of fun walking around the creek and taking photos. Stay here, you won't regret it!

This is a unique place to camp. The landscape is so beautiful and serene. Steve and his wife are wonderful hosts. We enjoy the mushroom tours, Steve is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic, we learned so much from him.

We had a wonderful time camping here! The site was private and came with lots of wood for our campfires. Steve and Anne were so welcoming. The land is beautiful and we loved learning about mushroom cultivation on our tour with Steve. We took home some shiitakes, a medicinal tincture, and beautiful soaps made by Anne. We highly recommend camping here, meeting Steve and Anne, and taking the farm tour!

I discovered this place by accident and decided to stay here on a whim because it looked like a fun experience. It was truly a unique and fantastic experience! Steve and Anne were very welcoming & Emma who was the mycologist on the tour of the farm was wonderful and very knowledgeable. She actually made me excited to learn about the complexity of the fungi world, and I took a lot of information away from the tour. Highly recommend camping here, the sites are super secluded which is exactly what I like in a campsite, and you absolutely have to do the tour of the mushroom farm. All around 10/10 stars in my opinion. We have added this to our favorite places to camp and will be returning whenever we are in this area again.
Your family was an absolute pleasure to have stay here. We look forward to seeing you once again in the future!
A dreamy place, awe-inspiring. Clean, fresh, beautiful, intentional. Hosts were also super kind. Would definitely like to come back someday. A wild yet tame garden? A straw house that looked like it was an elven workshop? Lush woods? Mushrooms? A creek? This place felt like a fairytale.
The host Steve also made an off-the-cuff suggestion to visit Robert H. Treman State Park and it was one of the most beautiful scenes we've ever seen (I think we also have the weather to thank for that as well.) All right here in New York.
I would be so lucky to make a home that looked like this one day!
All in all a wonderful unforgettable trip packed into 2-ish days.
