Beautiful private setting
My family of 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 3 & 5) spent 1 night at a riverfront campsite on Chantel’s property and had a beautiful time. The river was a perfect playground for our kids, the site was well kept and clean, and the hosts welcoming and inviting while allowing us our space. The hike in was a walk down a mountain about 10-15 minutes (for us, with little ones), which is a perfect intro for a backcountry experience.
Great river spot in secluded area
This was a great site. The host, Chantel, met us at the entrance to the property and escorted us to one of the two river sites. There was another group at the other spot, which was a little down the river but both sites were very private, and the river location was beautiful. There was plenty of space for a tent, campfire, and what was easy to explore the surrounding area. We took a short drive to hike at Neversink as well. We definitely want to come back.
The Taino Woods was as magical as the description says! Both the site and the hosts were lovely and kind. I would 100% go back and recommend this spot- it has beautiful energy that is completely revitalizing ☺️ Thank you for having us!
Beautiful campsite next to river
Chantel and her husband Jesse were great! Jesse helped us bring all our gear to the site with his quad and the small fee was absolutely worth it! The two campsites near the river are incredible! The ones up-top are also very nice but the river is unbeatable! It is a Magical Land indeed! If you go with a small group, I highly recommend booking all the sites so you have the place all to yourself! Very private and quiet.
Hemlock the life counselors
This land truly is magical, and seeing the love that Chantel and Jesse honor the land with its no wonder why the magic is easy to feel. The hosts and the land have beautiful energies, the river provides free life force wifi to you while you sleep, and the big hemlocks near the river provide counseling services (just be ready to face all parts of yourself....even the parts you don't like) Could not have asked for a better camping experience and it has so much to do with how the hosts honor the land.
“feeling joy by the river”
I cannot even begin to describe the amazing and magical time I had camping at Taino Woods. It was nothing short of relaxing, rejuvenating and enchanting. Sleeping by the river, sharing and holding space with my dear friends and enjoying each others company in the quiet of the land was just what the doctor ordered to heal that “Covid Quarantine Blues”. So fortunate to have connected with the lovely owners Chantel and Jesse. We roasted marshmallows, shared stories and songs and delicious food. I will be returning again and again to share more stories and learn more about the land, love, and connection. Filled with gratitude for this place and the lovely people with the vision and bravery to create it. Jesse and Chantel, AHO! 💚
Healing oasis for now and always
There aren't enough words to describe the OASIS that this place truly is, but in actual real life. How special to find campgrounds that are private, with enough space from one site to the next, where you're not a bother to other campers and they don't impact you either. Regardless, camping always brings out the kindness and considerateness in others. I camped by the river with 2 friends from Friday to Sunday Afternoon. Our other friends were in the adjacent river spot and we seldom heard them. If I was by the bathroom in between the spots, I heard soft murmur of sounds from both spots but not enough to even be a slight bother.
I highly recommend utilizing the ATV load-in/out service to haul your things in because your car won't make it in through the entrance path without getting stuck - and if you have lots to carry, it might get exhausting before even getting to your spot. This is even more recommended for the river spots because it's a downhill hike - imagine doing that while lugging things. The wood bundles are also a nice convenience because it's yet another thing you don't have to lug in, but if you find some on your way, you win!
Make sure that you use biodegradable and nature-friendly soaps / toothpastes, etc if you'll be utilizing the river water or land for cleaning your things. There aren't any garbage bins like in public campgrounds, so bring trash /recycle bags so that you carry out all that you bring in and anything extra you may find. Leave no trace and leave it better than you found it!
Camping by the river, even in the Summer, will reveal that layers are key because it does get pretty chilly at night, but rest assured that the river will always hum you to sleep and relaxation with its constant flow. Especially after a nice morning /afternoon rain. Not to mention the nightingale birds!!! They sang the most beautiful songs at sundown!
Don't let changing weather stop you from camping - just come prepared. The day felt even longer after the morning rain stopped and we had a whole new experience!
The owners are such a delight and all the development and progress you see, was done by them!! Lending a helping hand is always a beautiful gesture and helps them develop even more of this incredible respite. They gave us space to be and flow but we also very much enjoyed their company. They will share so much knowledge and history of the sacred land and educate you about Taino history that they are passing on to future generations. For example, the 2 sweat lodges you'll see.
Magical healing lands
The Taino Woods Sanctuary is as yummy and delicious as the description and photographs. The 12-acre land lends itself to a larger space as the woods stand tall beside you and hold you near and dear to the beautiful River. The land is soft, subtle, and sticky, as you will be certain to take the warmth, love, and healing of the land back home with you. Chantel and Jesse mimic the land in warmth and loveliness. They are kind, considerate, and helpful. They have truly stumbled upon a gem here at The Taino Woods Sanctuary. If you are looking for a serene place to wash away the troubles of yesterday, restore in the serenity of nature, and rejuvenate in the life that lives within the woods and within yourself, The Taino Woods Sanctuary is the place to be.
Heavenly campsite, private river
We were greeted and immediately treated as family by our wonderful hosts. The river campsite was so terrific. It was private, and right along the beautiful river where you could wade through and see plenty of wildlife (turtles, fish, and crayfish). We had plans to go hiking nearby but elected to stay because the campsite was so beautiful.
