Clear cut in the 50's, and hit by a tornado in the 90's, this land has come a long way in being restored. The forest has grown back, the tornado damage mostly cleaned up, I'm currently working helping to reestablish native plants. Adjacent to county forest land this land is teeming with life and has an almost supernatural feel to it at night...in fact, if your lucky you might see the dancing purple lights that have appeared from time to time. Otherwise the fireflies provide their own light show :). This is a working farm, not a campground. I provide an affordable safe place to camp/park for vanlifers, campers and other travellers. Farm is 3 acres field, the rest forest and wetlands with a small creek running through. The property is part of the Harrison-Hewitt county forest. It is a few short miles from the Eau Claire Dells, and only a mile or so from the Plover River Fishery, Springbrook(Trout fishing and kayak accessible) the Ice Age Trail. It is 5 miles from WI Hwy 45 which is on the way to many points in the WI & upper MI Northwoods. Its 25 miles from Granite Peak Ski area. We have all sorts of wildlife; loons, turkey, grouse, foxes, red squirrels, wolves, black bear, a cougar, whitetail deer plus woodpeckers, plovers and songbirds and more.Tents can camp anywheres on the property, RV's must stay at designated sites. In the host’s defense, I booked 3 hours before I got there. That being said, she had no idea who I was and why I was waiting to be let in through the chained entrance. The site was overgrown with grass and empty cardboard boxes strewn about. I was given the option to stay parked at the end of her driveway on the public side of her chain about 3 feet from the road where cars could go up to 50 mph. I get having a bad night, but it appears they don’t take their listing seriously. I did, though. I messaged the host early Sunday morning to get a refund. More than 24 hours passed with still no response. I don’t need much when I go on Hipcamp. I just need a safe place to park my vehicle. I was not even given that. I would have felt more safe in a Walmart parking lot.

Debra's place was a beautiful, peaceful location in the Wisconsin north woods. I was 20 minutes to nearest town ,so convenient. Debra is a wonderful person as well as host and I will definitely be back.

Solitude and close to nature

Debra is an awesome host. Very frank and open about her site. If you are looking to truly get away from the typical overcrowded campground experience and be closer to nature and solitude, this site is for you.

Worst Camping Experience

Unfortunately my stay was not what I expected at all. I arrived and her dog ran up to my car, jumping on the door and was angrily barking at the dog I brought with. This left tons of scratches on my car door. The campsite was filled of garbage and left you limited as to where you could camp. There was a neighborhood dog barking until 6am that kept me from sleeping. Extremely disappointed.

The host was very welcoming and accommodating, however we didn't end up camping because of thunderstorms coming through the area. We will definitely be back though!
