Welcome to Our Homestead Campground! Our secluded 80-acre farm is nestled in a valley between three mountains, where two babbling creeks meet—over two miles from the nearest residence. We raise chickens, ducks, and pigs while practicing permaculture and organic farming, using solar energy for parts of our operation. Enjoy the peace and quiet of our hideaway with modern conveniences like electricity and internet. We’re happy to share our homestead lifestyle or simply provide a quiet place for you to relax. Camp at the Main Circle near our home trailer, cabana, and bonfire area, with access to electricity and Wi-Fi. For a more rustic experience, Kolb Field offers a peaceful spot along Coon Creek, shaded by a majestic walnut tree. You’re also welcome to camp almost anywhere on the property to find your perfect spot. A lightly traveled public dirt road runs through our property. While an SUV or 4x4 is recommended, regular cars can access the site, and we have parking for standard vehicles. Please check with us in advance if you plan to bring an RV. Our farm is a great destination for overland camping—perfect for getting your truck a little dirty! We are cautiously dog-friendly. Our farm dogs patrol the property to protect our free-roaming animals, so visiting dogs must be well-behaved, leashed, and comfortable around other animals. If you're unsure about compatibility, please reach out for advice. Our dogs will come to your camp to "check you out". If your dog has a problem with other dogs that are new to them you must let us know so we can control our dogs. We have had people come with problem dogs and not tell us so, we are asking for a $1 extra that we now require as a pet fee. While you're here, visit our local businesses in Gassaway. At Bigfoot Braxxie's Bikes, you can rent a bike and explore the 40-mile Elk River Rail Trail. Trailhead Farm Meats & More offers our farm-raised, all-natural meats and other local products. We are a small, mostly off-grid homestead farm with chickens, ducks, pigs, and bunnies, located 1.25 miles off the paved road and over 2 miles from the nearest residence. Our 80-acre hideaway sits where two creeks meet in a valley surrounded by mountains. We practice permaculture and organic farming methods, using solar power for parts of our operations. Camp at the Main Circle with bonfires, a cabana, and electricity, or choose a secluded spot at Kolb Field along Coon Creek under a towering walnut tree. Adventurous campers can hike into the mountains for a private retreat. Due to the lack of cell coverage, we ask for your ETA and require a meet-and-greet to ensure your safe arrival, as it’s easy to miss a turn and get lost. A lightly traveled public dirt road crosses our property. An SUV or 4x4 is recommended, but regular cars can usually make it. We are happy to assist with transportation in our pickup truck. RVs and low-clearance vehicles can only reach the site in dry weather—please check with us before bringing one. If high water blocks access to Kolb Field, alternative campsites are available. To preserve our off-grid lifestyle, please pack out what you pack in, bring your own mess kit, and use aluminum cans rather than glass or plastic, which we cannot recycle. We are a dog-friendly property, but visiting dogs must be well-behaved and under control at all times. Our free-roaming farm dogs protect the property and may lead other dogs too far. If your dog does not get along with others, this may not be the right place. We offer free stays for musicians who perform at our Farmers' Market from May through October. On weekends and holidays, we cater BBQ dinners upon request and subject to availability, featuring farm-raised meats and homemade dishes for a small fee. Holidays like Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving are great times to visit, with discounts for military and first responders, festive gatherings, and deer processing demonstrations during hunting season. Instant and same-day bookings are welcome, but if we miss your message, follow the directions and come on down.

Our main site "Kolb Field" requires the hight of an SUV to clear the rocks in the creek you must drive through. This second site is near to Kolb Field and just as lovely but does not require you to drive through Coon Creek.

Road Car Friendly Camping Area
The perfect spot to set up camp before heading to New River Gorge National Park. Host of was very accommodating. Campsite is well kept and clean. Would definitely recommend!

Nik and Beth were very accommodating and have a wonderful property to camp on. As hosts, they made us feel right at home and made sure we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend spending the night at their farm!

Coon Creek Cove is a wonderful place to get away and recharge out in some nature. The space is very nice for a small camper like our teardrop or a tent. I wouldn’t bring any kind of large RV as the road getting into their valley is very tight with several switchbacks. Nick is an incredible host who showed us right to our site, checked up on us and always asked if we needed anything. The space is well maintained and quiet. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing the rooster crow at all hours of the day.

Road Car Friendly Camping Area
Nik and Beth's Road Car Camping was a perfect spot to set up camp for the night before heading out backpacking the next morning! They were there to greet us and direct us to the open grass field surrounded by trees and were available if we needed anything. The last little 1.5 miles of the drive to location is on a gravel West Virginia road.... which my Toyota Corolla handled fine, but be prepared! The space is large enough for multiple tents. Would definently recommend!

Nik and Cori were awesome guys. Really enjoyed talking with them. This is my review of the campground itself, not them. It’s pretty out-of-the-way. You’ll be on a gravel road through the woods for a while. There’s not much signage but as long as you stay on that road, you’ll reach the site eventually. Low clearance vehicles can make it, just go slow. The campground itself is well-kept and tranquil. The doggos were also fun and playful. The downsides were no wifi at the field I was camping in and also just a personal pet peeve is whenever a host asks for an ETA, it’s irksome because it’s added stress when I just need an easy place to crash for the night. But overall, not a bad hipcamp. Lots of privacy and quiet. Would stay again. Again, Nik and Cori were very cool guys and as a lonely traveler, I appreciated the conversation.

This couple is SO kind!! So helpful with giving directions into the camp site! They live on the cutest farm!! We had a comfortable stay!! I would go back again for sure!!

Great place to set up camp! Peaceful and beautiful! The homestead is fun and the animals well taken care of! The hosts were kind, helpful, and willing to offer any assistance if we needed it! Any kind! We were in the area to kayak and they offered to go out of their way to give us rides if needed. This was absolutely not expected and very generous!

The hosts were in communication with us on the day of arrival. They met us on the road and guided us into our campsite. The location was REMOTE and the road was maintained. The site was recently mowed which made easy for activities around camp. Having a site that was flat was also helpful. I suggest bringing bicycles for riding of all ages on the road which is fairly flat for a long distance by the campsite. Peaceful camping.

Very private and secluded campsite, quite far off the grid! Nik and Beth were very welcoming and made me feel right at home. Enjoyed a quiet evening with a gorgeous view of the night sky - very little light pollution. The drive to/from the site is fairly challenging, don't ignore the warning. It was a workout on a loaded motorcycle and I could see it being a rough time with a smaller car

Great place for a quick overnight. It was late, rainy and dark when I got there, but Nik was so kind and communicative as I kept hitting traffic delays. Would stay again during nicer weather so I could actually experience it more!

My group and I loved camping at Coon Creek Cove! The site was nice and secluded but had easy access to the farm in case we needed anything. The area was beautiful and scenic and we enjoyed falling asleep to the sound of the creek and other nature sounds. There are really fun trails around for your 4WD vehicle. We loved checking out the farm animals and being visited by the dogs here and there. Nik and Beth were generous and so helpful! We'll definitely be back soon :)

Nik + Beth were very helpful whenever we had questions and were happy to accommodate checking in later in the evening. Be ready for a few miles of rough road coming in, as long as you have 4x4 and take it slow you'll be fine. We also rented ebikes for the afternoon and had a blast, highly recommend adding that on!!

Nik and Beth are excellent hosts! Incredibly friendly and full of helpful tips that made our stay really enjoyable. Their property is beautifully nestled between mountains and you can pitch your tent right next to the creek and listen to the water as you fall asleep. The dogs were a highlight for us, especially Ginger! She showed us around the property, kept watch, and was so so sweet. The gravel road was a little intimidating for us on the way in, but we quickly figured out how to navigate it without trouble. We will definitely be back, with friends!

Nik and Beth are both very friendly and helpful. The camping area was clean and with nice shade trees. Our boys enjoyed feeding the chickens and pigs ... the pigs were a highlight. The road in is rougher than I expected. My truck handled it easily. Though I am glad I didn't drive my wife's car.

Nik and Beth were super friendly and great. Their land is so lovely. We got a beautiful view of the stars while we slept. They have super friendly dogs, and Nik even helped us get gas because we were a little low when we came in. We'd go back again!

Nik and Beth's land was a wonderful experience! Nik was very welcoming to us. Nik and their three dogs escorted us to the site and made sure we were comfortable. It's a beautiful site with a creek along the back that was clear and cool during our visit. I especially appreciated Nik being proactive about the interactions between their three dogs and my dog who was feeling a bit overwhelmed at first! Definitely recommend!

Nik and Beth were great hosts! They checked in with us to make sure we had what we needed as it rained a lot during our stay, and they even invited us up for some fireworks on the 4th of July. The spot was quiet and private with a few ATVs passing by. We all loved Ginger, the Redbone Coonhound, who helped us pack up and led us out when it was time to leave. We managed to make it in and out, even after the rain, in our Westy without any issues.

Nick and Beth are awesome people and very helpful the whole way for our trip. They really go out of their way to make sure their guests feel welcome and that we sure did! We brought our kids, a almost five year old, four year old and two year old, and they welcome all of us during the evening to watch and help feed their animals. The kids had such a blast just exploring and we loved just enjoying the company and the slow pace they offer! Come as guests and leave as friends!

Beth and Nik are the best hosts. They are incredibly responsive, extremely kind and go out of their way to be welcoming and hospitable. Just great people! Their property feels remote, I was tucked away in a field deep in the forest. My tent was set up above the stream. The way they had mowed give me a little tiers down to the stream for hammock, a spot for eating/ cooking and lying on the big rock looking at stars at the stream bed. I rode bicycle and enjoyed a peaceful ride on the new rails to trail along the river. You could even rent a bike from Nik and Beth’s new bike shop! They even have hiking trails off the property. I loved my stay and would definitely go back.

We stayed here on a little overlandimg trip. This property is definitely off the beaten path and in the middle of no where! Which is what we wanted!!! Nick was great to talk to, a great host and came to hang with us in the evening for a bit to swap stories. We had constant rain the entire night stay so we couldn't appreciate the land as we would of liked so we will have to come back! We came in to the property through the route that is the creek which was an awesome route. When we left we went the most difficult way which was even a struggle with a built Jeep on 37" tires (this is the route not recommended and we had to use some recovery gear to get through). This property has quite an exciting journey to get to and is so peaceful, definitely worth stopping at for the night!!!
