Shaum’s was an amazing host and we loved our stay. There are lots of trails, beautiful views and plenty of privacy. We’d definitely stay here again.

Loved staying at Sunset Ridge!!

Sunset Ridge Trailer

My bf and I really enjoyed staying here at Sunset Ridge! The RV was so cozy and had everything we needed to stay! We loved the outdoor seating area. Nice view! We spent most of our time in Bellingham which was a short 15 minute drive away. We also loved Shaum's dogs 😊 They came to greet us at least once a day! Shaums was so attentive to our stay but also gave us space to enjoy the area! Definitely recommend staying here! Looking forward to coming back to explore more of the trails, the nearby lake, and doing a bonfire! We were here during the fire ban.

We had a great stay at the Alderwood site. We stayed with our Tacoma and rooftop tent and it was the perfect setting. This spot was full of shade, making it super comfortable both during the day and at night. The trails that Shaums built were amazing and on the first afternoon we were there he met us and showed us around. The spot was easy to find based on the map provided and Shaums was incredibly responsive. We can’t wait to stay here again. Side note- the porta-potty was super clean 10/10.

This was my second time here! It is such a nice camping spot, secluded and my dogs had a blast. We didn’t see other campers although we heard a car driving by (not bothersome though!). Communication with host was easy.

This is a beautiful spot with an exceptionally kind and helpful host! The site was clean and well organized. Don't miss the ridiculous sunset view a very short hike from camp, or the fishing and swimming in Toad Lake.

Sunset Ridge Trailer

I really enjoyed my time at the Sunset Ridge trailer. Shaums really does a great job of being attentive while giving you space. You totally can see their house from the trailer but the fire pit is over a little hill that feels secluded but safe. As a solo female I look for places that allow me to be outside but also safe. I also adored being greeted by Shaums’ pups. The trailer was comfy, cozy, clean and conveniently located. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

Great spot near Bellingham

We had a lovely time camping at Sunset Ridge. The hosts were friendly and accommodating, and the location is fantastic for accessing areas around Bellingham. It is only a short drive to Galbraith. Lots of thimbleberries and huckleberries to eat. You can hear traffic from the campsite but it isn't bad.

Super secluded and peaceful - didn't feel like you're as close to Bellingham as you are, but then easy to head to the city. They also gave us s'mores makings for the kids, which was so sweet. Great trails to explore too!

Great views and challenging commute

Shaums was incredibly helpful and welcoming. He showed us to our site and gave us a rundown of his property when we checked in. What I did not anticipate was how steep the road to the top of the ridge was in addition to the steepness of the roads on his property. This is not a place to stay for folks who are uncomfortable with steep driving since there is a committing section of the gravel road with a steep drop off on the way to the site. While the site is flat, the roads on the property are primitive and challenging for some rigs. I drove my truck and camper up there and by the time I exited and landed back on the main road after my stay, I might’ve burned up the last of my brake pads. Beautiful view but worth being mentally prepared for the challenging drive and parking set up.

Ridgetop A frame ⛺✨

We had an amazing stay at Shaums' place as part of a mountain bike weekend in Bellingham! The A frame was such a fun way to upgrade our usual camping experience. It's basically like a wooden tent with a porch and hammock -- so cool! We brought an air mattress and made dinner over the campfire with things we found at the farmers market that morning. Shaums was an amazing host, communicative, incredibly hospitable, and even suggested the best sunset watching spot 🤩 would definitely stay here again!

Good family camping trip

We spent four nights tent camping at the Cedarwood spot with four adults and three toddlers. The kids loved exploring the property and picking berries, and I loved walking the trail on the ridgetop and taking in the view at sunrise and sunset. The steep drive up the dirt road to exit the camping area was no problem with a Subaru. Shaums is a friendly and welcoming host who made our visit very nice.

What a wonderful place to camp! My husband and I only had the pleasure of staying one night, but even still we saw wildlife, had a wonderful fire, and got to see the most breathtaking sunset from the very top of the mountain! Shaums has created a really unique place to stay and has even created trails all over his property for all campers to enjoy. Highly recommend staying here.

Hidden gem!

This was such an amazing hidden find, both hosts Nicole and Shawms were incredibly nice. We left our gear tent at home, and they were so sweet that they provided us with their tent to use AND SMORES MATERIAL!!! And what a view from their private little trail to overlook the mountain ranges. The forest was so full of native and healthy plants, we could really reset and have an amazing time there. I know it is only a matter of time before this spot is going to be reserved MONTHS out. Plus they are only growing in their area and creating more spots, trails, and overall a better (if you can imagine it) experience! Thank you so much for hosting and creating this opportunity for those who love nature and the beauty that is bellingham.

Sunset Ridge Trailer

We had a great stay at Shaum’s! The area is beautiful and a short drive into Bellingham. The bed was super comfy and it was nice to be able to cook some meals when we needed. Would happily stay again!

Dogwood Site

We stayed at Dogwood and had a great time. I was nervous because it said 4WD was recommended, but my Promaster van got to and from the site no problem. Able to get level on the pad without an issue as well. Added bonus that the firewood was provided, just bring an axe. Great camping close to town, 10/10 would recommend

Campsites were easy to find. We are a medium sized group that showed up at different times. Shaums took the time to take each of the tour of the area and bring us to our site. Sites were private and spacious. We have a blast wandering the logging trails around the property. Even took the steep walk down to Toad Lake. There is only one porta potty for all the sites. Wasn't much of an issue for us but I could see it becoming a bit of an issue if all the sites are booked.

I tent camped with my 8 year old and we had a great time. It’s a beautiful place and Shaums was a friendly, helpful and accommodating host. Highly recommend and will be back again! We enjoyed walking the trail and seeing a gorgeous sunset and building a fire. The spot felt private and peaceful:
