I loved the place. Wish there we're condiments for the free coffee. Better access to electric to charge cell or run tablet would be excellent.

Great location, convenient access to town and various activities on the island. Campsite was as described - the bathroom/laundry room were nice perks, and we would have loved to spend time in the sauna of we’d stayed longer! Lots of airplane traffic and neighbor/road activity in the morning, so ear plugs are recommended if you want to sleep past 6am.

Wow. I am not sure what I can say about Betty that has not already been said. The property was great. Great place to camp, use of an outside table and seating area for meals, the use of a fantastic sauna, being able to do laundry, make fresh coffee every morning, and Betty's guide to all things Vashon Island.
As for Betty, if you are luck enough to stay on her property, please find time to engage with and spend time with Betty. She was a wonderful host with some amazing experiences around the world. I cannot say enough good things about Betty and her family made my boys and I feel during our stay.

Her land is so pretty and we’ll maintained, perfect location for visiting the town or walking down to little private beach. The dogs had a great time too.

What a wonderful welcoming space! Friendly host and lovely community on the land. A little noisy at night, but being in close proximity to town was nice. Was a little disappointed that the sauna didn’t seem to be on, but we didn’t end up having time to use it anyway.

Vashon is such a cute island and Las Madrina's is located in the perfect place to enjoy the town. We stayed in spot 2 and it was well secluded and pretty quiet as well. We enjoyed the amenities that were available as well and felt like it was the perfect out-of-city retreat.

Betty's property was so beautiful - we camped at Site #1 under the big tree. It was great to have access to a bathroom and hot plate (inside Betty's house), and walking to town and the beach and forest paths was super convenient. One thing about Site #1 is that it is right up against the neighbor's property, so we did get some loud neighbor noise late into out first night and part of our second night (which was no fault of Betty's). Overall, this would be best for people who want a very communal experience, and maybe not so much for those who desire more privacy.

Sauna was awesome! And having a shower with warm water is a plus too! We were in site #2 which seemed to be the most secluded on the property. It was furthest site away from the house behind some trees next to the solar panel. There’s lots of people that stay on this property, but everyone we encountered was super friendly. It was what I was expecting, but just be aware if you’re looking for a more private campsite this probably isn’t the one for you! There’s also a road near the campsite that’s a little noisy. I’m a heavy sleeper though so it didn’t bother me much at all.

My girlfriends and I really enjoyed camping at Las Madrinas. Betty and her son were the most hospitable hosts and they made me, a novice camper feel safe and supported the entire time we stayed on site. And don't get me started on how beautiful Betty's home and campsite are! Just glorious! We all left Las Madrinas ready to leave our 9-5's and copy what Betty has going at Las Madrinas. It was just perfect

my partner, our two dogs, and i stayed here after a long backpacking trip. the property was easy to find, beautiful, and peaceful. betty was accommodating and quick to respond to questions. franco was great to chat with about the orchards and the local farmers market, and encouraged us to try any of the fruit they had growing! there were also a couple lovely wwoofers there who were very friendly (we wanted to wwoof after imagining doing it in a place like this!). i loved the welcoming + community feel of it all. initially the hot tub was unavailable due to a reservation at the cabin but after a cancellation, betty promptly let me know it was available to use! it was so nice to relax our weary muscles after the trip. in the morning we did our laundry, had some yummy coffee, and tried out the sauna. overall, it was probably the best case scenario in any hip camp location you could find. we couldn’t stop talking about what a gem this place + the people were! BOOK IT.
btw - they also have two air bnbs on the property that looked really cute!

Loved camper van camping on Betty’s land! Was a private space separated from the surrounding by trees and the solar panels. Was easy to find and Betty was responsive with answers. The walk to the beach, downtown and just around trails was fantastic. The washroom and bathroom were accessible and comfortable to use.

Not what we expected. Stayed in camp spot #2 we had to call to ask direction of the specific spot we would be in as it was a little different. No campfire ring so no fire. We did not use the sauna as it felt a little invasive considering it’s right next to the house that people are living in. We did utilize the bathroom a couple times (when a worker showed us we’re it was) which was a little nice to have while camping but again a little different considering it was inside of someone’s home. The whole island seemed out of ice as we went to three different spots and everyone was sold out, we tried to walk to the beach in the evening, down the hill which did not work out considering we had a stroller and you had to go on the side of a private property fenced home and we did not feel ok doing that.

Such a perfect hipcamping weekend. Las Madrinas is adorable with great amenities, so close to the shopping and restaurants of Main Street Vashon, but also a great home base for any PNW island activities your heart desires. We loved the sauna, the bathroom, the gardens, and the relative privacy of our campsite. In town we loved both the breweries and the Hardware Store restaurant. Please note that the walking distance beach is only really worth it when the tide is low. So check the tide charts before you go - there was only one low tide the day we were there and we missed it. We should have driven to nearby KVI beach instead.

Betty’s place was great! We camped away from the road behind the garden (site #1) and it felt quite private — the only folks within view were occasional workers in the garden. The birds early in the morning were amazing (I love waking up to birdsong) but do note, if you camp during Strawberry Festival you’ll be close enough to walk - which is a huge bonus when parking is hard to find - but also close enough to hear the bands playing well into the evening!
The amenities were exactly what we needed, especially the well-stocked bathroom/laundry. We’d definitely camp at Las Madrinas again!

Betty’s property had a wonderful communal spirit while still having lots of space for privacy at the campsites. Really apprenticed the shower/bathroom access and the location is so close to downtown. Highly recommend walking to the secret beach!

The location was close to town and fairly close to the beach, though the campsite itself (we stayed in Site 2) feels a little like an afterthought. There is fairly constant road noise (the site is a small grassy patch just off the road), and while there are many nice “options” included (a sauna, laundry, etc), we will look to stay elsewhere in the future. A picnic table or similar would go a long way to make Site 2 feel more user-friendly.

The location and camping area was lovely. The only issue was that the host gave us no information on the site. We attempted calling serval times to the provided number, but it was for a private business that wasn't associated with the camp and was closed. We weren't given a map of where our site was, where the bathrooms were, or where to park. We had to wonder the area until someone yelled something out a window at us about where to go. The bathrooms were also confusing to find and we had to call and message the host multiple times to get a response that came almost two hours later. If you decide to camp here, contact her early/in advance and ensure you know where everything is before your stay otherwise you may have to wonder around and try and figure it out yourself.

Great camping and such a perfect spot if you want to ride your bike into town for some ice cream, looking at you Island Queen, also a little jaunt down to the coast line. Most mornings we were awoken by the screech of Bald Eaglets who had taken up a perch just above us in a tree. The sauna was a nice touch as well to ease those sore legs after biking around the island.

Betty’s place was a wonderful stay! I was on site 2 with my car which seemed to have the best privacy. The hospitality with amenities were fantastic, I would absolutely stay again and wish I had stayed longer. Thank you, Betty!

It’s a quiet, beautiful place! The flush toilet and hot shower in the lovely bathroom and laundry facilities were such a huge plus! Also, Betty (who wasn’t there during our stay but responded fairly promptly via the Hipcamp app) provided us w access to electricity (which we needed to run medical equipment). We were in the PNW for our niece’s HS graduation so most of our 4 nights/5 days were spent in Gig Harbor. As a result, we will just have to return so that we can adequately explore Vashon and take advantage of the sauna! (That we sadly did use on this trip!) Thanks Betty! Hope to meet you next time!
