Local history of the farm and town starting 1850s https://www.historylink.org/File/8223 Shared estate on 10 acres: 8 acres of hay fields, an acre pond, and an acre for the homestead/parsonage. Garden space along with the mature orchard with tons of fruit trees. Please ask before harvesting. This awesome property is close to town yet in the country. 100% non-smoking, no pets facility. Learn more about this land: Pitch your tent or park your car in a new-to-us farm. We are not a commercial camping site, but welcome visitors from all walks of life. Farm is located near NAS Whidbey which may include free, loud flyovers with photo opportunities. Chickens live in site, so be prepared to celebrate loudly and sing along when they lay an egg. The neighbors raise cows and goats, so farm noises and/or smells may occasionally be present. Please ask before harvesting anything including blackberries. Due to presence of farm animals, pets are not allowed. Smoke-free facility. The tent area is/was used for hay, so we recommend a tarp under your tent to protect your tent. Please attempt minimal damages to fields, be aware surfaces may be uneven, contain rocks, or other hazards. You may park near detached garage and walk to site or drive to site. Please don't block garage doors. Anything downhill from the pond and detached garage is open for your enjoyment as long as you don't obstruct the enjoyment of others. You may use the water spigots for potable drinking water. History: We share our respect for the long arc of human history on what we colonially know as Whidbey Island (Tscha-kole-chy as it is named in Lushootseed). We honor the speakers of Lushootseed and members of the Suquamish, Snohomish, Swinomish, Lower Skagit tribes, and more, whose ancestors loved and cared for this land and these shared waterways long before European settlement began. The area has been actively farmed, since the west was homesteaded in the 1850s. We celebrate the ongoing vitality of local Native communities, including the Swinomish and Tulalip, and the wisdom of those who have called this place home since time immemorial.
