My partner took me camping for my birthday and he chose the site. The view was spectacular and the hosts were very friendly! There is a really cool train that passes on the other side of the water, and it is so cool to watch. We got a bundle of wood, and it lasted us all weekend. I was on site 2, and the only suggestion I might make is to perhaps make stairs going down to the water level area. I'll be back for sure!

Vistas were great, very private and flat site. Easy to navigate to thanks to it being well marked with signage. Will definitely be coming back!

Beautiful site! The fishing was terrible though. I threw 8 different lures and nothing I did catch two small channel cats off a cut eel.

Amazing spot! The dogs loved the wide open area. Very private and well maintained area. Was a swing, table and fire pit. Very peaceful and amazing view of the water, highly recommend.

Beautiful campsite right on the water!! We stayed at Site 3 for 2 nights. There was a lot of privacy between the other site, pretty secluded.. Nice open field, everything was maintained very well, marked clearly. Mixed of wooden surroundings with a small path down to the river. Had a chance to met the host, very welcoming. Would definitely return with no concerns.

This is my second stay at Michael's site and I'm already scheming the third visit! Absolutely beautiful section of the river, and the sites are far enough away from each other that we had a private camping experience!

This was our third time camping here. First time at Site 1 and twice at Site 2. It honestly could not be a more perfect getaway spot. We have really loved it! It's beautiful, spacious, peaceful and private with a beach, fire pits, a swing and plenty of long paths to explore. Thank you so much for sharing this lovely piece of land with campers. It feels like a home away from home!

After camping here twice I can confidently say this is the best way to camp. Total privacy, right on the river, plenty of space, mowed and manicured fields and lots of tree coverage so even rain can’t ruin your trip! The directions can be a bit tricky, it’s more helpful to know to turn at the HipCamp canoe in the yard. I absolutely plan on camping here again and would 100% recommend to a friend.

My favorite camping spot in Virginia!! Truly wonderful. Also I left my watch behind and got a call in the morning about it and the owners said they could hold onto for it for safekeeping. They also offered to mail it to me but I knew I would be back. Definitely recommend!

Absolutely beautiful! The campsite is very well maintained. Access to the river was very easy.
I will absolutely be back to enjoy this site.
There is a train that runs on the other side of the river. I didn’t mind it at all but I can see if someone is trying to sleep in how that might be a distraction.

We had the pleasure of staying at Site #3 for the second time, and once again, it was a wonderful experience. Our kids and dogs loved swimming in the cove, tracking wildlife prints, and exploring the natural flora. We look forward to returning and highly recommend this Hipcamp. The owners are lovely people, and we were so thankful they were willing to come help us out early Sunday morning when we discovered that our car battery had died. Thank you again!

In my opinion, seven Islands is one of the best Hipcamp sites. Right on the James River. Great fishing or it’s great to just hang out and chill.

A great site with lots of tree cover as well as open grass. Being right beside the river offered such a peaceful sleep environment. Will definitely return for another visit…we did have a little visitor… a small raccoon visited us throughout the evening …. Never got too close but seemed to be looking for a snack….

Hosts are super kind, attentive and helpful!
The campsite has a huge shady field for setting up and parking.
The cozy fire pit with logs and rocks made a a great spot to get a fire going. They even had wire grill trays which were helpful for cooking. A picnic table and tree swing makes it such a charming space.
The private sandy beach nestled by the river was the best part. The water was a great way to cool off and swim. (It was in the upper 90's) It also has another fire pit for a great night time bonfire to roast marshmellows, listen to music and looking up at the starry night sky.
Will be back and would recommend!

Wonderful spot on the James river. Very well maintained grassy, level camping spot. Super remote and private primitive camping. Our chocolate labs love the river and being off lead. Highly recommend!

2nd time staying at site #2! Was just as great as we remember it the first time! A great spot for littles to swim and splash. Water was up a bit at first from recent storms but still very manageable and didn’t slow us down. A lot of privacy from the site down the way. They’ve added a nice handrail to assist getting down the bank, great for when the water started to recede and the hill was a bit slick. We will be back for 3rd time for sure.

Beautiful piece of property alongside the James River. There is a wide open field for your vehicle and tent, shade under the trees plus a fire pit with log seats, and a beach to fish from. Approximately two football fields distance between site 2 and 3. No one was there when I stayed, but if they had been, I still feel like I would’ve had my privacy. Had a great solo trip!
