Apryl and her family run a fun and lively backyard farm. This is a working farm with all the noises, shenanigans, and charm that come with a small scale, family farm unit. The Tent Site #1 is down a shady path and adjacent to the small duck pond and animal enclosures. We were greeted by litter of livestock guardian puppies who promptly inspected all our camping gear and wrestled with our kids, much to my children’s joy. A goat managed to find its way over to inspect our family, and there were chickens, geese, cows, a horse, and sheep all communicating with each other about our arrival.
Apryl’s family works on the farm and are warm and accommodating. They care very much about their stewards and their knowledge is evident. They are happy to answer any questions and include you in the work. It was POURING when we stayed and they set up a tent to teach my kids how to milk Azalea the cow. Because we were only passing through and staying one night, we didn’t get to try the farm dinner but maybe another time.
We found the entire experience to be fun and exciting, a little bit of a different activity aside from your standard camping. I would absolutely recommend staying with Apryl and her family on her lively and sweet little farm.
