Nestled just half a mile from the majestic James River, our peaceful retreat invites you to unwind beside a retired mule shed, providing a haven from the river activities. Spread across 10 acres, your stay includes access to personalized hook-ups and a private driveway, allowing you the freedom to come and go at your convenience. A leisurely path around the corner beckons you towards local gems such as Mink Creek, the Scottsville Reservoir, and a network of wooded trails. This idyllic setting is the perfect spot to find serenity and rest after a day of exploration. Joining us on the property are our two dogs, three cats, and a lively bunch of 22 chickens, including one of the many neighborhood roosters. Situated just a 2-minute drive (or a scenic 15-minute walk through the woods – yes, there's a path!) from downtown Scottsville, Virginia, you'll discover a charming array of restaurants, shops, a grocery store, and an award-winning brewery. If you're up for a slightly longer journey, a mere 25 minutes will transport you to Charlottesville, where unlimited options await. Experience the perfect blend of nature and convenience at our inviting retreat.Update: We are prioritizing "Vehicle" accommodations at this time i.e. trailers, camper vans & RVs. We are working on an outhouse that will be available to tent campers at a later date. Thanks! Mule Shed Stay is a flat, once-graveled plot on a bluff overlooking beautiful wooded hills and a wet-spring. Guests can enjoy a private driveway entrance, beautiful mature trees and the sound of birds in the woods behind them. There are hookups available at this site, up to 50 amps. We do allow pets - just let us know! There are no bathroom amenities here. Guests will need to be self-contained, take waste with them and leave no trace.

This was an absolutely wonderful place to stay! So close to everything and with beautiful nature all around. Our hosts were extremely accommodating and kind. Our stay could not have gone better. We would stay here again in an instant!

Mule Shed Stay

Had a great time camping at the Mule Shed. Had more than enough room for our three tents, two cars, and hang out area. Very close to the town and to the James river for some river floating.

Loved this peaceful green spot in the middle of the woods. Bridget was so helpful and answered my questions right away. Overall it was extremely chill and I would revisit!

Mule Shed Stay

Bridget was very accommodating, as we booked this at the last minute, and arrived after dinner - she responded quickly, gave very clear directions, let us know what to expect. It was a quiet, peaceful place to spend the night in our camper van. Its a beautiful area, next time we hope to explore more.
