This beautiful site is situated amongst the mountains of Virginia, and has the amazing views that come with the outstanding location. Our grounds accommodate 3 campsites suited for tent camping, and 14 others appropriate for RV camping. Our site offers access to Cold Sulphur Springs Lake, where visitors can swim, fish, boat, and more. Our secluded location are perfect for a get-away from the city. In addition to our activities, we offer amenities such as a bathhouse, as well as electric and water hook-ups, and a dump station. Please note that we are also a seasonal campground, so we offer accommodations to both nightly and annual visitors. Some seasonal campers leave their vehicles at the site for the season, so you will see a mix of empty and occupied sites.  NOTES ABOUT BOOKING: ***During hunting season (October-December), target practice and shooting will be held on Sundays from 3-6 PM at the dam. Please avoid the lake and lake area during shooting time.  The road is safe to use to access the campground. Practice is limited to monthly and seasonal campers.*** Please plan ahead when joining us! Our location really is quite remote, so bring flashlights or headlamps to ensure you have enough light to set-up camp if staying overnight, especially if you are expecting a late arrival.  Please specify if you would like a fire pit and/or picnic table when booking.  We have both tent camping and RV camping sites. Please specify which kind of site you will need. If camping with an RV/camper, please note we offer 30 and 50 amp power at each site. Finally, please note that we are a campground under new ownership and we will be making improvements as we go (tree trimming, seeding, plumbing, etc.)! Please excuse any noise or mess. We will do our best to schedule our maintenance away from your campsite, but it may be in the vicinity.  OUR LOCATION: Goshen's location is extremely convenient, with the cities of Lexington and Staunton just a short drive away. Day trips to Lynchburg and Roanoke are also easily done from Goshen. Douthat State Park and the Goshen Pass are nearby as well. We recommend the Goshen Pass as the best swimming hole around! OUR HISTORY: In addition to being a beautiful and serene place to be, Cold Sulphur Springs has a wonderful history that can be re-imagined just by stepping on site. The Historic Cold Sulphur Springs Campground dates back to at least the mid-late 1800s, when it was a large, flourishing resort frequented by travelers from near and far. In its heyday, the resort bustled with more than 250 guests who often spent entire summers there playing croquet and enjoying orchestra concerts at the hotel dance hall. They would arrive at the Goshen train station and be brought to the resort by horse and buggy, greeted with ice cold lemonade. Those who visited Cold Sulphur Springs, doctors especially, attributed miraculous medicinal benefits to the water, recommending it as a cure for a variety of ailments and encouraging patients to visit.  However, the 1900s brought the onset of World War I and the advent of the automobile, allowing Americans to travel freely to a variety of locations without the need to summer for months at one resort. These factors caused the hotel at Cold Sulphur Springs to lose patrons and eventually meet its demise through fire and other means of destruction. Today, the grounds provide a simpler kind of hospitality. Cold Sulphur Springs is a place for travelers from all walks of life to camp, fish, swim, boat, hike, and more. While little remains of the old hotel, the historic Spring House is still in tact at the campground, as are some remnants of original building foundations. Pets are permitted, all dogs must have their shots and be leashed at all times. Site 13 is very convenient to get to as it is located just to the left of our main driveway and is our only primitive drive-up site. It is the first site on your left in front of the bath house when you arrive. It offers tree cover and a convenient location to the bath house and trash!

Site 12 is a very spacious site located in front of our bath house. It has some large trees that offer shade and allows for multiple tents to set up. Please note that parking for Site 12 is located along the main driveway on the left before you reach the bath house. You must walk to the site (about 125 feet) across the lawn. Please DO NOT DRIVE across the lawn. We have delicate underground infrastructure that can be damaged by vehicular traffic.

ABOUT THE CAMPGROUND: Tucked away in the small town of Goshen, Virginia, you will find the Historic Cold Sulphur Springs Campground. This beautiful site is situated amongst the mountains of Virginia, and has the amazing views that come with the outstanding location. Our grounds accommodate 3 campsites suited for tent camping, and 15 others appropriate for RV camping. Our site offers access to Cold Sulphur Springs Lake, where visitors can swim, fish, boat, hike, and more. Our secluded location and wooded environment are perfect for a get-away from the city. In addition to our activities, we offer amenities such as a bathhouse, as well as electric and water hook-ups, and a dump station. Please note that we are also a seasonal campground, so we offer accommodations to both nightly and regular visitors. Some seasonal campers leave their vehicles at the site for the season, so you will see a mix of empty and occupied sites.  NOTES ABOUT BOOKING: ***During hunting season (October-December), target practice and shooting will be held on Sundays from 3-6 PM at the dam. Please avoid the lake and lake area during shooting time.  The road is safe to use to access the campground. Practice is limited to monthly and seasonal campers.*** Please plan ahead when joining us! Our location really is quite remote, so bring flashlights or headlamps to ensure you have enough light to set-up camp if staying overnight, especially if you are expecting a late arrival.  Site 3 offers 30 and 50 amp power and water. Is it located to the right of the campground entrance and is a back-in spot with a gravel surface. We have a fire pit on-site but do not offer grill grates. It also has a picnic table. Pets are permitted, all dogs must have their shots and be leashed at all times. Available for nightly camping at $50/night, monthly camping at $600/month, seasonal camping at $3,500/season, or annual camping at $5,000/year. All seasonal and annual campers must apply prior to making a reservation. Finally, please note that we are a campground under new ownership and we will be making improvements as we go (tree trimming, seeding, plumbing, etc.)! Please excuse any noise or mess. We will do our best to schedule our maintenance away from your campsite, but it may be in the vicinity.  OUR LOCATION: Goshen's location is extremely convenient, with the cities of Lexington and Staunton just a short drive away. Day trips to Lynchburg and Roanoke are also easily done from Goshen. Douthat State Park is nearby as well.  OUR HISTORY: In addition to being a beautiful and serene place to be, Cold Sulphur Springs has a wonderful history that can be re-imagined just by stepping on site. The Historic Cold Sulphur Springs Campground dates back to at least the mid-late 1800s, when it was a large, flourishing resort frequented by travelers from near and far. In its heyday, the resort bustled with more than 250 guests who often spent entire summers there playing croquet and enjoying orchestra concerts at the hotel dance hall. They would arrive at the Goshen train station and be brought to the resort by horse and buggy, greeted with ice cold lemonade. Those who visited Cold Sulphur Springs, doctors especially, attributed miraculous medicinal benefits to the water, recommending it as a cure for a variety of ailments and encouraging patients to visit.  However, the 1900s brought the onset of World War I and the advent of the automobile, allowing Americans to travel freely to a variety of locations without the need to summer for months at one resort. These factors caused the hotel at Cold Sulphur Springs to lose patrons and eventually meet its demise through fire and other means of destruction. Today, the grounds provide a simpler kind of hospitality. Cold Sulphur Springs is a place for travelers from all walks of life to camp, fish, swim, boat, hike, and more. While little remains of the old hotel, the historic Spring House is still in tact at the campground, as are some remnants of original building foundations. We invite you to explore the wonder that is the Historic Cold Sulphur Springs Campground and see the beauty that lies within.

I had a lovely time at this campsite. Site #13 is a little tricky to find from the road, but the host was on-site and quickly led me to the proper spot, which had direct and convenient car parking right next to it. They also brought plenty of firewood free of charge!

Cold Sulfur Springs Campground was exactly what I needed after a 75-mile bikepacking ride. The property is beautiful and the facilities were a much appreciated treat, after spending two nights in primitive campsite. Derrick was a great host and had messaged me shortly after booking. I’d absolutely recommend and would love to check it out again if I am ever in the area. Thanks Derrick!

This was our first visit. It’s peaceful, clean, lots of hiking and a nice watering hole for fishing. Goshen has a lot to offer if you love the outdoors. Because of the great hospitality from staff and the locals, we will be back soon! One love- The Ackermans

There is a large fishing pond there campers can use. We had a site overlooking the pond which was lovely. Half the camp is fairly permanent trailers. People were friendly when asked. Bathrooms were clean and good water pressure. This camp was quiet except for loud birds at night! Sites were not all marked. Derek, the assigned helper, answered the phone fast and was very helpful. We drove to Clifton and had a great dinner at a tavern with music!

The site has a great mix of tent and RV camping. RV/Van sites have water and electric hookups, while the tent camping sites have quick access to heated bathrooms/showers. In addition, there are folks on site if you need anything, including a friendly bunch to have a cookout with. We wanted to particularly thank Timmy for his hospitality and firehouse chicken. Hiking trails are impeccably groomed and the lake served as a perfect place to sit and enjoy the peace from a boat. Thank you again to the staff.

We booked this campground due to its proximity to the train in Goshen. We camped in a truck camper. The road in was well maintained but very narrow in some spots. We did not actually stay in site 3 as we would not have had enough wood or blocks to level the truck camper. Zoe was very accommodating when our party asked to move. I do not recall the site number but it still took everything we had plus some from a friend and we still were not able to level. Maybe not using p gravel would have helped. The women’s bathroom was clean, but most of the door locks were broken. There are no hooks or bench in the shower to hang clothes or toiletry bag so be prepared to hang things over the door and balance on a leg to dress. According to my husband not as much care was taken in the men’s room. The campground was very quiet. There are several permanent type sites further up the hill. No one ever checked in with us. We did see a guy restock firewood and might have bought a bundle however Zoe’s email said $5 but the sign said $10. When we left and went to dump we found that the dump station was on a serious slope, on the wrong side while leaving and that it had the wrong fitting on it. I did see a guy make a couple trips one of those portable honey wagons from his 5th wheel. Zoe and company could make this campground better by leveling the sites, reducing the number of sites, making some modifications to the bath area and fixing the dump station.

The campsites were recently built. The area was clean but sites were not level and they used pea gravel which made for bad footing for leveling blocks. No one from the campground ever approached us to make sure everything was ok. The dump station is in a bad location and was unable to dump due to weird fitting. Bathrooms were clean but dark and several stalls had no locks.

Loved this spot! Zoe and Timmy were excellent hosts. Our car wouldn’t start so I called Zoe and within 30 minutes Timmy arrived to jump my car. The camping area was clean along with the bathrooms. A hot shower was perfect after a long day of hiking and driving. It was quiet and the star views were great, able to catch the meteor shower. Overall 10/10!

Beautiful property near Goshen. We picked the location because it's near the train station for the scenic railroad. Owner responds quickly to messages and is very accommodating to changes. Unfortunately there were several issues with the property that make me hesitant to recommend it. 1. Sites are loose gravel, very unlevel with no privacy. 2. Electric hookup has a 50 amp outlet with 50 amp breaker, but electricity provided is 30 amps. 3. Dump station is on the passenger side as you are leaving, on a slope, with no black tank flush. 4. There are some tight turns coming in. We were in a 38 ft motorhome that has a tight turn radius, so we were fine, but others might not fare so well. Bottom line, this place has potential, but for now, I'd either pay more for a campground with a usable dump station or the same amount at a more secluded dry camping location.

Although we loved the location, the campground appears to still be a work in progress. There was evidence of water erosion at several sites, and many were not level enough for small campers. The site we chose (#9) although level, had a deteriorated firepit with lots of nails and bolts in it, and in the surrounding area. The whole are should be much nicer after the grass grows in. If the campground had been full, it appears to us that campers would have all been closer together than generally like. Bath house was clean and convenient. Timmy did stop by the first evening and check on us, and Zoe was available and accommodating to let us change our set. She was also communicated well prior to our visit.

Although it rained for a whole day, it was an amazing experience. The host offered us firewood and shelter if the weather got too bad. He also came to check on us twice. The bathrooms were clean and the location was easy to find. The grounds were manicured and the residents were nice.

Zoe’s land was the perfect spot to get away for the weekend! We loved all the space we had to spread out and relax. The bathrooms were so nice to have close by. We enjoyed relaxing by the fire pit and taking in the views! We definitely plan to come back!

We loved our stay at Cold Sulphur Springs! It was peaceful. The restroom was close by to our camp and we could get everything we needed. We brought our dog with us to camp and he enjoyed his time too. Would definitely recommend for anyone who needs to get away for a bit.

Secluded from major roads. As you drive in, you'll pass a pond and at the top of the hill is the campground. There's a cute country store 5 minutes away. The campground manager/host, Gary, and staff was very nice and professional. Newly renovated bathhouse with hot water and was cleaned everyday. Close to nice swimming hole nearby at Goshen Pass.

I have some mixed feelings about this campground. When we arrive there was no body and we were struggling to find our campsite. Finally we managed to find it. Seems like most of the campers are either long term campers or living there. We didn't see anyone with a tent except us. The showers had hot water and the mens bathroom were not that bad. We are fine having people working in the improvements of the campground but we didn't feel privacy when you have workers from 7 am until 9 pm. Certainly, this is a campground to spend one night. The people we met were friendly.

The hosts are very friendly and gracious! The camp is being expanded and they have new grass, new sites being graded, new electrical and plumbing. Hipcampers are allowed now and when the regular season opens they will have rustic sites and new electric tent/camper sites it appears. Very quiet and dark campground and it is small. The facilities are clean and properly lit and heated.

We really enjoyed camping here this weekend! Everyone was super friendly and inviting. The thing that made this place stand out above the other places we’ve been in the past was all of the communication with Zoe before our arrival from updates, directions, and welcoming us! We are looking forward to camping here again!

Campsite was fine for a tent, however, the bathrooms were very run-down. One toilet was overflowing onto the floor and another had a chain that was disconnected from the tank. There was almost no toilet paper, and the sinks and counters were in incredibly poor condition (deteriorating, cracking, etc). Additionally, there wasn’t much room for fishing at the dock as it was crowded with personal boats, rafts and trash. Lots of permanent trailer/RV campers at this location. Definitely not worth the price to camp here.

The campsite was large, the area was beautiful, and the people were very friendly. However, the mens bathroom was in pretty rough shape with several things broken and after swimming in the lake the kids had several leeches on them. Also, make sure to bring food rather than purchase in the area. There’s a dollar general close by, but not much else.

Amazing spot with great places to hike around! They have all the needs for the RV ( electricity, water, dump site, ext.) they also have showers and bathrooms in the area. Overall my friends and I had an amazing time there!

Great place in a beautiful quiet setting overlooking a small lake. Plenty of room at each site. Bathrooms were clean and had warm water. Will definitely be back here. Kayaking drop areas are only minutes away. The birds at night are relaxing, especially the Whiper wheels!
