Located 25 minutes from Liberty University in Lynchburg and 50 minutes from Roanoke, it's a great place to bring your RV and visit LU's campus while getting to enjoy the outdoors. Buttermilk Bluff is also conveniently located between Smith Mountain Lake and the Blue Ridge Parkway, the location is a short drive to lake amenities, the Appalachian Trail or one of Bedford counties favorite hikes, Sharp Top Trail. It's a perfect place to get to spend one on one time with family and nature. An abundance of wildlife including deer, turkey, hawks, owls and the occasional black bear can be seen. Enjoy exploring Buttermilk Creek which surrounds the property on two sides while having the entire 60 acres to yourself!

Perfect for RV's, Overlanders, and Tent Campers, the property offers expansive views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Peaks of Otter. The property is part of a second generation family farm raising primarily dairy and beef cows. One of the most exceptional views offered is the sky, unobstructed views for 180 degrees, the site is perfect for stargazing. Buttermilk Bluff is bordered on two sides by Buttermilk Creek, a peaceful creek perfect for kids to explore and search for crawdads, frogs and salamanders. An abundance of wildlife can be found roaming the property including deer, turkey, hawks, owls and the occasional black bear. The campsite can accommodate up to a 45' RV and full size truck. The site is equipped with 20, 30 and 50 amp RV Receptacles, a water hydrant, and a fire ring. There is a dump site on the property.

Buttermilk Bluff #1

We thoroughly enjoyed this campsite! The solitude and serene views were truly unmatched. We could see for miles, and the sunsets were amazing. We traveled with two young kids who loved exploring the nearby creek. The host was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and made sure all of our needs were met. Highly recommend!

The pictures don’t do the view justice at this place. Perfectly isolated, yet close enough to local amenities to go get something if necessary. The sights and sounds of the area are amazing! We saw deer, wild turkeys, a beaver, and plenty of friendly cows. With minimal light pollution, the night sky was breathtaking. Katie was more patient and accommodating than we deserved. We enjoyed campfires both nights and utilized the well placed utility hookups for our camper. I definitely plan to return and visit some of the local attractions that we learned about and weren’t able to fit into this trip.

My friend & I loved camping at Katie’s site. Her land is so beautiful with a great view of the Peaks of Otter. There were really easy directions to get to the property & so helpful to be provided firewood. Also she was very kind to give us a little gift with s’mores supplies, a map of their property & recommendations of things to do. Also my dog (& my friend) loved watching the cows.

This is exactly what your looking for if you want a QUIET place to camp the land was beautiful and more than enough space to do whatever you would like. We stayed down by the creek vs on top of the bluff and had an amazing time I will be returning.
