Historic, quintessential VT farmstead on 38 private acres at the end of a quiet dirt road. The Slate Valley Trails pass through our property - providing direct access to 50+miles of world-class mountain biking and hiking trails. We are located mid-point in the network at a perfect jumping off point for adventure. There are also miles and miles of quiet dirt roads and abandoned forest tracks in the area, offering near endless opportunities for gravel cycling adventures. The property features perennial gardens, a pond, open meadows, forestland, and picturesque southerly views from the top of the north meadow. The tent, van and glamping sites are thoughtfully located in protected nooks in the forestland and along the forest's edge. We have hot outdoor showers (3) and a handmade wooden building that houses our portable toilets. There is also a communal fire pit.

Little Red Cabin

Little Red Cabin is a newly renovated 12x18' cabin located on the east side of the farmstead. LRC features two porches, a twin daybed, sitting area and queen bed on the first floor and floor space in the loft (bring your own mat/sleeping bag). The queen bed and twin day bed have bedding included. Keep your beverages and snack cold in the mini fridge, and enjoy a nice cup of tea from our tea station. This cabin does not have a private bathroom within the structure, but the hot outdoor showers and the clean, roomy outhouse are just steps away.

The cabin is in a natural setting. The amenities in the cabin and outdoors made for a flexible but relaxing stay. The surrounding towns were easily accessible for shopping and exploring. Everything is well thought out with the needs of guests in mind. Caitrin was a considerate and friendly host. I highly recommend The Little Red Cabin.

We loved our stay at Caitrin and Hardy's Trailhouse campground. It had everything you needed, and nothing you didn't! It was an ideal hub to explore Slate Valley Trails and return home to relax and unwind. Small touches, relaxed and welcoming vibe, beautiful setting and fun trails all contribute to a perfect stay.

We had an amazing week biking and staying at the little red cabin. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a retreat whether mountain biking or not. Caitrin and Hardy are the most wonderful hosts!!

We were overwhelmed by the beauty and layout of Caitlin’s land and location. It was late September and we had what seemed like the entire place to ourselves. The quietness was magical. No road traffic noise just sounds of the forest and small little critters gathering up winter food supplies. If you’re not a fan of an outhouse, you’ll be surprised by the cleanliness and design of the two. Fresh water and hand soap at each house. The showers were just as nice. We definitely will return to Caitlin’s land.

Caitlin and Hardy have the best camp in Vermont. They were great hosts and wonderful to talk with. The gravel biking and the mountain biking in the area are outstanding. And to top it off, Poultney is a fun little town. We will definitely be back.

Amazing stay! The convenience of the bathrooms, wash station, and drinking water was great. Plus the outdoor showers were amazing. The campsite was so beautiful. I don’t mountain bike, but the campsite is literally on the Slate Valley Trails which were beautiful to hike on. Can’t recommend this stay enough!

11/10 Slate Valley MTB trail hub!
Little Red Cabin
11/10 vibes. Caitrin and Hardy have set up an amazing little mountain bike haven at Slate Valley. Came in with some friends on a Friday and joined a group ride Caitrin organized for the community and then post ride pizza made by Hardy with this insane pizza oven he built by hand. Wonderful people and even better hospitality. This place is an absolute gem.

Caitrin and Hardy were awesome hosts, and their place is absolutely incredible! Although it's only my second booking using Hipcamp, it's easily one of the best places I've camped at so far. They've done such a wonderful job with the property (warm showers? heck yeah!) and the trail system is top notch. I'd recommend staying here even if you just want a quiet weekend away.

This space is absolutely perfect for a weekend camping. The Treehouse has all of the amenities for comfort: spotless shower and bathrooms, wifi at the wifi hub, a spot to charge your phone, plenty of parking, and the camp sites are gorgeous and also flat for tent camping, which is great. And it's all right next to incredible mountain biking and gravel biking. I can't wait for another stay!

One of the best van (or tent) camping sites we have visited in New England, especially if you mtn bike, gravel grind, or trail run. Hardy and Caitrin have turned an old farmhouse into a quiet recreational gem. And they have done so while employing good old Yankee ingenuity, creativity, and artistry. Worth the trip just to experience homemade bike jumps, outdoor clay oven, and honestly one of the very best outdoor showers!

Little Red Cabin
We spent this past weekend staying in the Cabin at the Trailhouse during the Slate Valley Epic and were highly impressed with all aspects of our stay. The cabin was recently renovated and slept 3 of us comfortably with an air mattress in the loft. The cabin is in a beautiful location next to a farmhouse surrounded by biking trails - it is a mountain biking dream location! We did several rides right from the house and enjoyed passing by the cabin during the Slate Valley Epic ride. This is an extremely cool spot and we quickly booked a return trip to come back. Caitrin and Hardy were awesome hosts - fun to talk with and super helpful during our stay. The cabin, showers, and toilets were built really well and we really enjoyed the porches on both sides of the cabin for hanging out. This spot is a gem and I would highly recommend a stay here (especially for mountain bikers). Looking forward to our return to this special spot!

I decided a few days before the 4th of July to hit the road somewhere to gravel bike and thankfully found Trailhouse. What a gem! The property is beautiful and thoughtfully layed out. It also has a few outdoor showers which were lovely after a day of biking! There is also access to the Slate Valley Trails and it’s a quick zoom into town. You can easily get out and explore during the day then return to Trailhouse to rest and unwind. Hardy was super helpful in giving me some info on gravel biking trails in the area and a quiet spot to take my paddleboard out. I am grateful for such a serene and scenic few days there and highly recommend Trailhouse. I hope to return to check out the mtn bike trails!
