The view simply can't be beat. Campers park at our 4R WindShed Wine Tasting Room parking lot and hike a short ways to get to the beautiful campsite. This is a two minute walk from the tasting room and our Camo Cafe. Moreover, this campsite is right at the entrance to our Brambles mountain bike trail.  IMPORTANT:  Campers cannot drive their vehicles to this campsite.  Therefore, this is not the campsite for campers who have teardrop trailers, rooftop tents, etc. Also bear in mind:  There is no toilet and no shower except during the times that the tasting room is open (see winery website at 4rwines.com for hours). However, this campsite is just a few minute's drive from the main campsite entrance, where we have showers and a toilet. To get to this campsite from the 4R front gate, follow the signs to the winery tasting room.  Park at the tasting room parking lot.  DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE TO THIS CAMPSITE.  Walk out on the front lawn of the tasting room and look for the steps that are on the north corner of the lawn.  Walk down those steps and you will see the sign for the mountain bike trailhead.  Rather than turning left onto the trail, walk past that sign up the mountain bike trail to the north and in 200 feet or so you will come to an opening on the shoulder of the ridge, and you will find the campsite with the fire ring.

It is relatively flat. If you are wanting to make sure you are distant from other campers, you may want to look at the other 4R listings.

This was our third time camping at 4R, and it’s honestly becoming one of our favorite traditions. The campgrounds are always clean, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. My kids love exploring the area — hiking the trails, walking the hills, and finding new little spots each time we come. Evenings are our favorite part. Sitting around the campfire, making s’mores, and playing games in the tent once the sun goes down always ends up being the highlight of the trip. It’s such a great mix of quiet, nature, and time together without distractions. Every visit has been consistently great, and this one was no different. If you’re looking for an easy, kid-friendly camping spot with gorgeous views, space to explore, and a warm, relaxing atmosphere, 4R Ranch is hard to beat. We’ll definitely be back.

I loved the dispersed tent camping area, a perfect place for my dog to run around and I could see how it’d be easy for a large group! And the flexibility of being able to go to the tasting room up the hill to grab a wine bottle or two cannot be overstated. Very nice, would recommend.

We enjoyed the beautiful and peaceful scenery. Perfect distance from D/FW to get away. The Winery and Restaurant offer a fantastic view. We didn't do the winery tasting but plan to do that next time. We'll be back soon!

We have come here several times, for several years. We are always excited to be on property and mountain bike and enjoy getting away from the city for a bit. The mountain bike trail was so overgrown you couldn't pick your way through it. The signs seemed fresh and new but the trail is definitely not maintained, so paying to bike and then not being able to do so was disappointing. The brush and whatnot between the sites was also high and not as we have visited in the past. It's a lot of clean up work when we get home to visit this location and this time it didn't feel worth the trouble.

We booked a very last minute night’s stay during the week and got there after dark. The information in the listing and online was so complete that arrival was easy. No need for help from anyone. The camp site was perfectly clean and clear with firewood provided. We’re looking forward to staying when we have more time and can enjoy the winery.

Site #13 was an excellent choice for a solo traveler in a hammock. The overall views were fantastic, and there was ample space for each guest. The trail leading to the sites was a bit narrow, but that wasn’t a problem for my smaller car.

We loved it! Walt and Mrs. Walt at the tasting room were very nice hosts. Beautiful ranch, awesome wine and pizza, great spot to set up the rv. Peace & Quiet. Cell service is in and out…but that’s just fine. It’s not a high end RV Park with all the bells and whistles but it IS a high end place to visit. Highly recommend a stay with the good people at 4R.

Our experience at this site was a little rough, I would definitely not recommend it if you plan to get there close to dark which is not the hosts fault but they are such a big property that the customer service is definitely lacking for hosting folks after hours. We arrived and proceeded to get stuck in a campsite that was not ours and then when we arrived at our site (#7) there was so much mud that our tires got stuck and we had to sleep in our car. The property is beautiful but easy to get stuck when the weather is not favorable.

Such a cool relaxing wonderful place to camp in our van. Apparently on the weekends they have loads of people and the winery is open with food and drinks. The owner let us purchase a bottle of wine on a Wednesday. They’re in beautiful hill country and the deck has great views. We loved site 7 and its privacy and big tree tucked into the woods. Pretty flat for the van.

I loved camping at the 4R Winery! Getting in and out was super easy. The pdf info pack provided on their website was really helpful in picking out the right option for us and having the firewood included in the fee was great. I really appreciate the dispersed camping in a state that is severely lacking. There are two things I would say to be aware of if you are looking to do dispersed camping. 1) The field is large but most of it doesn’t have shade so realistically, spots are a bit limited, and 2) there is nothing between you and other campers so even though there is decent distance between you, you can see and hear everything from neighbors. Also be aware that you are in wind turbine country and when the weather is right, you hear the whoosh whoosh of the blades from the nearest turbine. I got used to it about an hour after laying down to sleep lol. Other than that, it was great. Beautiful land, gorgeous starry sky and nature moving around you. I’d definitely stay there again!

This was the worst campsite I have ever stayed at. The shower (only one) sprayed sporadically and had standing funky water in the basin. The toilet was a port-a-potty that had not been cleaned in quite a long time--feces and trash up to the sitting area. We were not given instructions, nor was our phone call returned upon check-in. There was no where to dispose of garbage and the "water" was a hand pump well thingy so no hook ups to use our own camper facilities. I would not stay again, nor would I recommend someone to stay at the site.

The 4R Ranch was so unexpected and great! The campsites are so well maintained and it was fun to walk around the property— absolutely beautiful and different. We went to the winery for sunset and dinner. The porch overlooking the valley was stunning and perfect for sunset. The staff were attentive and kind. The food was sub-par and mostly frozen things reheated— I really feel they could knock it out of the park with a bit more effort and a chef-created menu. Major potential there. Overall we loved our stay and were grateful we got to experience such a unique HipCamp!

The campsite itself was wonderful but the amenities were extremely lacking. The restroom was too primitive considering there is a house right across the way that has a regular flushing toilet and a normal shower. The shower was creepy and thankfully I had flip flops that could be worn in the questionable slow draining stagnant water, wierdest shower I have ever seen at a campground. No trash cans at he campsites or remotely close. If not for these things we would be back.

Loved how spacious the site was but can’t recommend if you have pets. The entire site was a blanket of very prickly spurs and we unfortunately had some injured paws. Definitely recommend pets shoes.

I thought the whole spot was for the rv site, not shareable area for tent camp site too. The shower facilities was subpar, and the toilet was a porta potty (wasp and black widows present) which was less than desirable. With the addition of the tasting room (which seems fairly new) and the money they have spent, upgrading the shower (one stall didn't drain)and bathroom facilities would be a very more pleasurable experience. Our travel down the county road for a few miles was unexpected and dusty, due to the lack of rain. Part of the journey to get there. It was a good get away, and the wine/meals were great. A late lunch and then brunch added to a pleasant weekend. Overall a good chill weekend, just love and care needed, some money needs to be spent on the shower and toilet areas for a better impression.
