The cabin at Specialty Crop is excellent. Clean, air-conditioned, quiet and stocked with water, towels and a coffee maker. Spacious enough for us 3 adults. Thank you Katie and Chris for a comfortable stay, the enjoyable outdoor shower, and good hospitality.

Relaxing site,top notch hospitality

We spent two nights on Katie and Chris’s land and we couldn’t have had a nicer time. Both Katie and Chris welcomed us with firewood and stories about their well loved land. The space was peaceful and the free range chickens entertained us. The facilities were great and the outdoor shower was perfect. Highly recommend a stop at this adorable Hipcamp.

Glamping Cabin

This was our second stay at Specialty Crop but this time we carved out two nights to enjoy. The four of us arrived super late our first night and immediately fell into our comfy beds waiting for us. Our 17 and 20 year old girls LOVE sharing the bed in the tiny loft 😉. Sunday morning we were greeted by the adorable roosters, chickens and kitty cats while we sipped coffee on the front porch. It was a busy day moving our Augie girl into her dorm. We were blessed to have such a comfy place to return to. We enjoyed a lovely campfire and more snuggles from kitty cat, Chai and dog Runa before retiring a bit earlier for another glorious night of sleep. If I had to tell you what my FAVORITE part about this place was, it would most definately be the outdoor shower. It really is amazing!! Chris, Katie and their children are such amazing hosts and we love staying with them in their little cabin.

A new favorite!

Easily one of our best camping experiences! The little log cabin at Katie & Chris’s place was the perfect home base for our recent family trip to the Sioux River Folk Festival. We were welcomed with warmth and next-level hospitality, even while they were in the midst of tree cleanup after a major storm. The cabin was charming and well-appointed, and the queen bed was super comfortable! Our kids loved having their own space up in the loft and we all decided that we want to build our own outdoor bathhouse at home because the shower was so great! Chris and Katie have poured their hearts into their property and into providing an outstanding experience for guests. There are so many incredible reasons, both big & small, why we loved our stay at the Specialty Crop and we can’t wait to return! Thank you for making us feel like family!

Katie and Chris's farm is so beautiful! We loved our stay here. They've really provided a perfect spot, complete with friendly chats, visits from their pets, and a very nice shower. It's so peaceful to sit under the stars next to a campfire. We would definitely come back!

Great night sleep while on the road

We very much enjoyed staying in the cabin for a night while traveling across the country! The bed was the comfiest we had slept in during a month on the road! We were not only welcomed by the family, but by their feline friends as we relaxed on the porch in the evening. The outdoor facilities were easy to use, and I loved showering while listening to all the birds making their morning music. The hosts also have a few rv and tent sites, so the facilities are shared if there are other campers on the property. The cabin was welcoming, spacious, and comfortable. The only difficulty we had was knowing where and how to wash our dishes after having a meal. However, Katie was always responsive to our questions and was a wonderful hostess.

We had a lovely, but too short visit. It was a friendly place to arrive after a long drive. We were grateful for a nice shower, and we got a lovely sunrise before getting back on the road. Got a quick Look at the gardens and wished we could stay longer.

Omg it was the most charming cabin. It was immaculately clean. The outdoor shower was the best shower of my life. The host were so kind and welcoming. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

THE BEST GETAWAY IN SD! HANDS DOWN!

I couldn’t possibly speak more highly of this secluded little getaway. The hosts were very accommodating, welcoming, friendly, and brought a sense of peace, safety, and serenity. The communication was outstanding as soon as I reserved the cabin. The accommodations were beyond expectations and the location was beautiful. All of the critters were lovely to be around, especially their sweet little pup. The extras that they offer are outstanding and I wish I could have tried them all. I would suggest a few days stay - one day simply isn’t enough. You get well over your moneys worth and are guaranteed a great trip when booking with this absolutely incredible family. If I could go to this cabin weekly, you best bet that I certainly would!

Everything was nice and clean. The shower house was awesome and Katie and her daughter were so nice and helpful. I enjoyed visiting with Katie about her chickens and was able to buy a dozen fresh farm eggs. The view was nice and there was plenty of space to walk our dogs around.

Couldn't be more perfect

Probably the best stay at a hipcamp site yet. Not only was the site lovely, it was adequately sized for our car, tent and a five year old with boundless energy. Katie gave us a tour of the facilities, including a nice clean shower and toilet amenities. The family was more than well prepared for guests, and were all as nice as can be. My little really enjoyed playing with the kids, and the cats around the property. I could not recommend this site more highly. We have it bookmarked for our next adventure to South Dakota, whenever that might be.

Chris and Katie are amazing host. They make you feel right at home. Thank you for sharing your amazing farm. I stayed in the cabin and it did not disappoint. This campsite is absolutely perfect. Katie and Chris were so kind and helpful! The site is beautiful and they have three wonderful cats and a dog. I was just passing through but if I am ever in the area again, I will absolutely come back!!

Great view, wonderful hosts!

We had a great two night stay here in one of the RV sites. Electric, composting toilet, and hot water showers were all great. Really enjoyed the views. We treated ourselves to a dozen farm fresh eggs and they were amazing too. We were able to deploy Starlink with no issues, completely unobstructed view of the sky. Also, there were amazing views and beautiful sunsets. Would happily come back and stay again!

I really enjoyed my stay at the Specialty Crop! The farm is beautiful and I could not have met a sweeter family. Katie met me at the site when I arrived to show me around and not only was the property gorgeous but it is safe and I felt very comfortable there!

Voted Coziest Bed on Our Road Trip!

We were moving a car packed to the gills with belongings from Seattle, WA to the Space Coast, FL. We opted out of typical hotel accommodations for our 7-night road trip deciding to try for more fresh air, dark night skies, and the refreshment of being in country settings during our long trek. We arrived much, much later than we would have hoped, but Katie and her daughter were as sweet and accommodating as could be, showing us everything we needed to know to be able to make ourselves to home. And what a sweet little home this is. We had lovely cool, clear air and were able to sleep with the windows open and cozy up in the super comfortable bed with the best blanket combination! SUCH great sleep. We are used to a short walk to separate comfort station facilities and these facilities are SO WELL DONE. It's the equivalent of inside convenience with running sink water, some counter space, a mirror, and the composting toilet (which is actually quite easy to use) on one side and a shower with a small bench changing area with a curtained shower with instant hot water on the other side. There is NOTHING like showering and listening to the chickens and the roosters! We enjoyed the front porch with an evening beverage as their resident cat gave us some love and a hot morning beverage while the roosters came to check us out. It was lovely to wake up to the views and to have gone to bed after star gazing. It would have been lovely to stay longer. We would definitely visit again.
