The resort is located off Highway 385, the main thoroughfare through the Black Hills National Forest, yet is peacefully nestled in a quiet valley, completely surrounded by national forestland with a tranquil year-round creek meandering throughout the property. Rock outcroppings, hiking trails and offroad trails are within footsteps of every cabin. The serene space is an outdoor sanctuary centrally-located within 20 miles of Custer State Park, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Eye Tunnel / Highway, and Black Elk Peak. Your adventure will also take you near Hill City, Keystone, Custer, and Historic Deadwood. Drive a little further, and end up in Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Sturgis, or Devils Tower National Monument. There are 8 open creek side RV sites (Sites 1 -8). Horse Creek Resort - Cabin 1

This 3BR 1BA cabin sleeps a total of 6 adults with the possibility of a couple children sleeping on a Murphy bed. There is a large master bedroom with a brand-new king-size bed and a Murphy cabinet, two other bedrooms with full beds, along with a large walk-through bathroom with shower. The cabin also includes a fully equipped kitchen, a living room, a vaulted-ceiling dining area, a large, covered deck with seating/dining and a propane grill along with a private fire pit. Coffee maker, linen/bedding, bath towels, cooking utensils, pots & pans, and tableware are all provided. This cabin has heat & air conditioning, a television with streaming services (Netflix, etc.), and on-site coin- operated laundry.

Well cared for campground with a cozy feel. Garret, our host, was very accommodating and communicative. There is a neat little rock outcropping hill that stands behind the resort which is a great spot for a hike with a view. Nice facilities. Would recommend and stay again!

The ambiance Horse Creek Resort presents is unlike any other campground in the Hill City area of the Black Hills. The niche fire pit and hammock's are cozy. Horses in the foreground create a serene experience. We were nestled amongst friendly seasonal residents with lots of local knowledge to help us get the full South Dakota experience. Joey, the host, is a salt of the earth kind of guy. If you love horses he’s your guide. Garret, Joey and Matt excel at hospitality!

We didn’t stay long as we were passing through but this place was absolute paradise! Garret is super responsive and was a fantastic host! The view is unbeatable. My favorite part is there was no bugs. The bathroom and showers were perfect for our family and although we didn’t need it they do have onsite laundry which I’ve found can be hard to come by. The surrounding area is stunning, with Lake Sheridan just around the corner. Would definitely stay again!

Really great camp site! The setting is beautiful, everything was clean and nicely maintained, and the property was lovely. Right on the edge of National Forest. The upper site was a bit tight and harder to navigate for a novice RV driver but the lower spots seemed more open and easy. We had a wonderful camp!

The Owners and the Camp Host were amazing. Everything ran smoothly and was very clean. If you have a camper I would recommend 10/10. I was in a tent. There was no shade and it was 88 degrees by 9:30 am. This is fine if you are an adult and on the go. The evening temps and sky is beautiful. I had my two young kids so everything is slower for us. If you plan on tenting it, bring your own shade.

I don't even know where to start. The scenery is breathtaking! The site was well maintained and clean. I loved waking up to the horses every day. When it was time for me to leave, I couldn't. The hosts were responsive and it was obvious that they work hard to make sure that their guests are comfortable. Fantastic place . . . I still don't want to leave, but I'll be back!!!!!!

The property was beautiful and there were lots of nice touches with lighting and flowers. Garrett was always very responsive to any questions or needs. The one downfall, in my opinion, was the restroom/shower house. An upgrade to the shower house would be a great improvement (locking stall doors, a newer more modern building, stable flooring). It was great in all other respects.

We loved our stay here. We were on the lower section of land and the view is beautiful. It's quiet and peaceful and our kids had room to explore and run! The sites and surrounding area are kept well maintained and clean. When we asked if we could extend our stay by a day, Garret was quick to respond! We will recommend this campground to others and hope to stay here with our family in the future.
