Great Dane Lane

I absolutely loved staying here—it was phenomenal! The hookup is right by the house but still close to the forest, which makes it feel private and safe. The property is very secure, no concerns at all. It’s located down a dirt road near the woods, but even with my Toyota Corolla I had no trouble driving in—never bottomed out or hesitated once. My partner also brought a 20-foot camping trailer with a Bronco and got in easily without needing four-wheel drive. The experience was wonderful overall. The hosts are incredibly kind, hardworking, respectful, and down-to-earth. The location is fantastic—just one hour between two major cities. During our trip we visited 15 islands in 2 days and enjoyed amazing seafood. Truly no complaints here! Highly recommend.

Off leash dog friendly!

Stayed at Montanna's property for two nights and all went well! The campsite I originally booked for was unavailable upon arrival but we found another spot easy-peasy which worked just as well for us. Loved that my dogs could be off leash the entire time and the hosts made us feel comfortable in their space. They have a beautiful large yard that we were happy to just chill in when we weren't hiking or visiting Savannah.

Very quiet. Peaceful. No one was around and that’s ok by me. We never saw another person. Just the duck🥰 What was confusing to me were the directions to the site itself, not the location on map. But we made it work. The site was right up by the house, we had to drive under a bunch of beautiful old growth oak trees. The sewer is on the left, the power and water are on the right. For our trailer (pulled straight in) this meant we had to get very close to the connector so our hoses and cables were long enough. We didn’t use the sewer since it was just a night. We appreciate them hosting us even though we probably should have gotten a larger site for our medium trailer. 29 ft. That’s my fault. Thank you for hosting us!

Wiggle Duck Butt

Great spot! Easy to find, clean, friendly host and the duck and coi pond and kept our toddler busy all evening!! Our toddler is still wiggling her butt like the duck 😂. We’ll def be stopping again!

Montanna and his wife are super nice people. I found their property a bit challenging, in that you had to be super careful where you drive, once you get into the property. The bathroom and shower were quite dirty, and very small. It rained one of the days I was there, and everything turned to mud.

Cool spot, chill host. It's only 3 spots (RV, tent with electric, tent without) and fenced in, so you feel super safe (don't have to worry about your stuff getting tampered with). The host is really laid back and flexible too. The road in can be intimidating (bumpy and off-roady) but I made it in and out just fine with a minivan, lol.. so just drove slow and careful.

just off 95, near the sea islands

The camp was quiet and our kids loved swinging from the tire swing hanging from the live oak. The host made sure that we had everything, and then let us be for the rest of the week. I liked that the camp was just off 95, and we could drive in multiple directions to explore the coast. Beaufort, Hilton head, and the sea islands are a short drive.

Get what you paid for

Overall the experience was alright. If you are expecting someone to come and greet you and show you everything, that’s not what you get here. Which I actually prefer. The host was very descriptive of how to get there and where everything is at so I didn’t need to be greeted. She was also very responsive in the message app so that was great. So few things could be improved but you also get what you pay for. This was not expensive compared to other sites in the same area. 1.The host should warn people BEFORE booking about how terrible the road coming in on is. There are no avoiding the crater like pot holes on this road. I didn’t not go above 3-5mph in my van but I can imagine how horrible it would be for trailers. 2. I booked this place cause I wanted a shower even if it was camper style. The water didn’t work. I couldn’t hook up my rig or shower. They mentioned having the water worked on the day before and to let them know if there were issues. I let them know, they apologized but didn’t do anything about the problem. It makes me wonder if they tell all there guests that because the ground was not disturbed and didnt appear that anything had been worked on recently. Not being able to shower really sucked and I probably would not have booked this place knowing no water available. 3. It’s called Great Dane lane so I expected some dog poop in the yard. But the host could have at least picked up the old piles of dog 💩 from the campsite to the pit toilet

Peaceful night with great hosts

Montanna was very flexible and understanding. There was a bit of a mix up with the app but even with that I had a great restful night and would definantly stay again. This time it was just a quick stop over on my way to southern FL but would really enjoy staying longer to explore more of the immediate area.

Quiet, cozy, and content.

Montana was extremely patient with me, as I ended up arriving extremely late. With the exception of the dirt road leading to the campsite being in less than desirable condition due to recent, extensive rains, it was a quiet, cozy spot for a long weekend. Note to future campers: The SC state bird (mosquito) is abundant in this region, along with honorary mention, the sand gnat. Pack bug spray.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our stay at Montana's Man Cave through Hipcamp was a dream come true for our furry companions and us. Traveling with our beloved dogs, we sought a vacation spot where they could roam freely, and Montana's exceeded our expectations. Nestled in the serene landscapes of Ridgeland, SC, this property provided the ideal setting for a dog-friendly camping experience. The spacious grounds, shaded by a magnificent large tree, offered ample room for our pups to explore and play, all within the safety of a fenced lot. The amenities surpassed what we anticipated. From convenient facilities to unexpected comforts, Montana's had it all. We were pleasantly surprised by the thoughtful touches that made our stay so enjoyable. Despite being immersed in nature, the convenience of nearby amenities was a bonus. A short drive to Walmart meant we could easily stock up on supplies without disrupting our retreat. While our interaction with the hosts was minimal, their warm welcome and provision of essential information added to the overall positive experience. Even a simple "hello" to neighboring dogs added to the sense of community and camaraderie. Leaving Montana's Man Cave, we departed with hearts full of gratitude and cherished memories. For anyone seeking a dog-friendly getaway with all the comforts of home, Montana's is an absolute gem. Highly recommended for a tail-waggingly good time! 🐶🌟

Rough Road

Once you arrive, the property is beautiful. The huge issue is the damage to our 17 ft camper trying to get in. The dirt road you have to go down to get there was covered in deep lakes that our suburban had to go down into and then get back out of and then the camper had to do the same thing. They were so deep the running boards were scooping up muck. Lots of these. We got there and started setting up. Discovered one of the stabilizers had broken going into one of the water holes. Spent the night. Waited to see if the water would go down. It did a bit. Saw rain was coming for next two days. Hooked up and left. The treck out destroyed our black water pipe and a second stabilizer. As I said, it is a beautiful property, but get clear information about the condition of that dirt road. This was a very costly cheap stay.
