Great spot and great host! We had a ton of wood delivered by Mike! He also brought all of our equipment to our site which was awesome! Will definitely go back!

We loved tent camping at the Far Out space! It was very secluded - we never saw anyone else! There was plenty of down trees for firewood and great flat spots for our tent. Mike was super helpful when we got there - he made one trip when I got there and another when my husband got there with the ATV. We were nervous about the 5-8 minute walk and not having our car right there but with Mike's help it was very doable! We will definitely be back!

Amazing! This is a wonderful place. Peaceful and private. The cabin itself is a work of art. Location is ideal for any camper. Our family of 4 loved this trip. We had a blast exploring the woods and playing in the River. The campfires on the riverbank, were so relaxing and tranquil. 10 out of 10. Great job Mike and Kelly.

My girlfriend and I stumbled upon this hidden gem one weekend, and we were so blown away that we immediately booked it again for the very next weekend! The hosts, Mike and Kelly showed phenomenal hospitality and they even helped us haul our gear to and from our campsite. The Far Out has quickly become one of our favorite spots to unwind and just soak up time together by the water. If you’re looking for a truly secluded, serene waterfront campsite, this place is an absolute must. Will be back!

The cabin is amazing! Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Greenville! Or maybe even people who live in Greenville!
We were looking for a peaceful place in the woods, but didn't want to be too far from the city (we were in town for a wedding). This cabin was so close, we didn't even need to rent a car! We could easily Uber to where we needed to go in Greenville and then Uber back to this cozy cabin. Despite that, the cabin feels secluded. Quiet woods, cabin on a hill overlooking a beautiful river, it was all very beautiful.
The cabin itself was great too! Beautiful inside, clean, very comfortable. It has plenty of space and everything you need, like a small apartment. We were only there for three nights but it would have been easy to stay a lot longer.
And it has a fire pit in a private spot by the river! That made for a fun, relaxing evening.
Mike responded quickly anytime we had a question. Great host! Made us feel very welcome.

Our stay at The Cabin at Fern Gully was pure magic! The property feels completely secluded and peaceful — surrounded by trees and the sounds of the river — yet it’s just a short drive to downtown Greenville, where there’s no shortage of great restaurants, shops, and things to do.
The cabin itself was spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully stocked with everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The hosts were incredibly friendly and responsive, offering great local tips and making sure we had a wonderful experience from start to finish.
Our favorite part was spending evenings down by the river, sitting around the campfire and making s’mores under the stars — it felt like our own private nature retreat.
If you’re looking for a place that’s peaceful and private but still close to all the action, The Cabin at Fern Gully is an absolute must-book. We can’t wait to come back!

I loved the Far Out campsite!! It felt secluded but still safe for me, a solo female camper. The trek to the site was short but steep. It was no problem though because Kelly hauled my gear for me in the wagon of their 4 wheeler. I loved being right next to the water. Kelly was friendly, quick to respond through the app and so accommodating. Cant wait to camp there again!!

This was an amazing place to camp! Mike and Kelly were great hosts: so communicative and accommodating, they even started a fire for us when we got in later than expected after dark. It was very peaceful and clean, I loved sleeping next to the river. Would surely stay here again next time I’m in the area!

My husband and our two kids (under 12) are experienced campers, and Camp Moondog is a perfect place for backpackers looking for a shorter hike-in, but also for newbie tent campers looking for a more rustic challenge. We stayed at the Far Out site, and it was about a three minute hike with a decent incline on the way in and then out, but very doable (and a good workout 😉). Mike helped cart all of our gear in with his ATV which was a pleasant surprise as we were prepared to hike it all in on foot. Top level service!
They have done an amazing job with the property. The paths are very clean and the views of the river are gorgeous. At the Far Out, you are far enough to not see the other sites, but you can go back to your vehicle quickly if needed.
Camp Moondog is ideal if you want to get in the woods, do some fishing, but still have easy access to Greenville. Mike and Kelly were fantastic hosts, and they have created a pristine camping spot. On our next visit, we want to try the fancy new cabin they are working on!

Kids and I had a great time. Played in the river, did a little fishing and had a nice camp fire. If you’re car camping I’d recommend something to carry gear, but it’s a short walk. Had a peaceful night sleep with the sound of the river and a good morning breakfast after. We used a 6 person tent which was a little tight for the space but would do that again.

Really beautiful camping spot on the river. Felt very private. Shady and elevated from the water.
This was a great spot for fishing, my family caught quite a few!
Pretty tricky to get down to the water and would be precarious with young kids because the drop off to the river is very steep. However, we still managed to fish, swim, and kayak just fine with our kiddos and really enjoyed being so close to the water while still feeling like we were in the woods and not near any other campers.

Nice site, needs a little tlc. Update amenities, shed was stocked with nothing but mud covered junk. It was private, it could use some pest management, solar lights were inoperative, garbage (not clearly indicated where to dispose of so we used some cans at the end of the road). The best part was the proximity to Greenville and the privacy, water was murky and covered with mosquitoes near shore. A little overpriced, we paid $50 a night over the Labor Day weekend. Would not stay again.

My wife and I had a great time.. easy to get to the camp site with clear directions. The camp site was beautiful and peaceful. Very quiet spot. Mike and Kelly are excellent hosts!

If you want privacy with the sound of the running river this is it! You can climb down to the water & ropes are available to help you back up. Mike & Kelly were awesome & Mike helped carry our luggage to the campsite & back, thank God. Our pups also loved being able to run free off the leash:) hope to try out Fern Gully next 🏕️💚

We love Camp Moondog! This is our second stay here, and we will be back every year! We booked all three campsites for our large family and multiple dogs- great decision. The hosts were friendly and the campsites were all clean. The best part was tubing from Fern Gully to The Bend. It's about half an hour, kid safe, and exciting enough to be fun.

We had a great time. We had space for 2 tents and a kitchen area. There is a string of solar lights at the camp. Bring your own table and be prepared for a hike to get to camp. The host, Mike, helps get gear to and from camp with an atv. There is a Wal-Mart and Qwik-Trip less than 10 minutes from camp. The Far Out has easy access to the river.

We loved camping here! Mike (host) was extremely helpful getting our gear to camp and back. Far Out does have quite a hike to get to (up and down hill), but the site is worth it. It's right on the river and we were able to put up two tents. The river was great to play in every day. There are plenty of trees for shade and hammocks or to tie up tarps. The ground is a lot of sand so having a rug in front of the tent is helpful.

We booked The Bend to use for base camp for a really great day of tubing and relaxing. It was a really hot day, so cooling off in the Saluda River with the kids was perfect.

The Far Out
Nice, secluded campsite not too far from town! The hosts were responsive and the directions clear. Far Out was a nice campsite with lots of space and easy access to the river.

We had an amazing time staying at The Far Out. The site itself is absolutely beautiful and the perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Mike and Kelly were incredibly helpful, even going the extra mile to haul our gear out to the campsite, which made our stay so much easier. If you get the chance, take a float down the river. It’s absolutely stunning, just watch out for stubbing your toe on rocks. Overall, a fantastic experience and we’d love to come back!

The Far Out
The “Far Out” site was exactly that! Such a peaceful escape, while still being conveniently close to Greenville. Loved hearing the sound of the flowing river from the site. The river access point was just a short walk from the site and provided a nice cool down after carrying gear, setting up camp, hiking at nearby Paris Mountain State Park, etc. The string of solar lights provide a nice touch after dark. Plenty of fallen branches available to utilize the firepit. Coordinated my arrival time with camp host to take advantage of ATV trailer delivery of my heaviest camp gear to the site. As others have mentioned, it is a bit of a hike and steep incline/then decline from the parking area - but took me less than 5 minutes (with no gear). Totally worth the peace and tranquility you get being “Far Out”! I’d definitely stay here again.

We had an awesome stay! Fern Gully was a beautiful place to spend the night and it was only a minute or two walk from our car. The river was gorgeous and even better than I expected, and it was nice to be so close to downtown.
