We had an incredible time on our trip to Heaven's Gate. We are hikers- not riders- so we weren't sure if it would be a great fit for us but it really was.
The trails out here are gorgeous and the folks are all real welcoming and friendly. Bridgitte, our camp host, was more than accommodating and made the experience even more beautiful than it already was on its own. She makes breakfast on request and dinner on Fridays and Saturdays, all delicious (we missed Sunday brunch but heard great things about it). She even brought us her personal microwave from her own home when the one in our cabin sparked and stopped working. Bridgitte is the kind of camp host that makes you want to leave your cabin a little extra clean when you leave.
This is a phenomenal place for all different kinds of people who crave getting out into nature. We loved every bit of the experience and cannot wait to go back; truly worth the drive no matter where you're coming from. Heaven's Gate is a great place for your dog, too- we brought ours and he was just elated the entire time. He loved it just about as much as we did. He will be returning with us in the summer!!

D'Anna keeps a tight ship and runs a clean organization. My wife and I don't ride but I think we both wish we did after our recent visit camping at Heaven's Gate. There are 3 tent camping sites which work well for parties of 2-4. The lavatory and shower accommodations were much nicer than expected and were cleaned daily. The tent camping sites sit directly on Billy Creek. The vast majority of visitors to this area come there with horses and they stay in the RV section approximately 150 to 200 yards away from the tent camping sites. Heaven's Gate connects directly to the Ouachita National Forest and hundreds of miles of hiking and horse trails. We did not take anywhere near enough photos which is easy to excuse as the landscape is completely awe inspiring. The other campers and equestrians were very pleasant and the nights were quiet. We enjoyed the host, the property, the access and we will be back. I highly recommend this campsite for tent camping especially for those that really want to dig into the nature that the national forest can offer.

We loved our stay by the creek. There is so much to do in the area that we have yet to discover, but we are definitely planning to visit again. The camp backs up to the National Forest with RTV and horse trails about a block away. Horse trails can be used for hiking. There is an out house and shower for use for those staying in the camp or RV area. It is kept clean, and thankful to have hot water for showering. D'Anna is a great host who is friendly and attentive. She even has a general store/office on spot for basics that can be purchased (for example: ice). Most folks rent the RV portion of her site which is across the road and bring their horses for riding daily. I love horses, so it was a treat to see so many. Only negative in my opinion, the campsites are a little close to one another. Next time, we plan a visit we will likely get 2 sites or bring friends and rent all 3 camp sites. We like our privacy. Lasty, I was glad to find this excellent spot, and we look forward to our next visit.

Heaven's Gate RV - $25 site
D'Anna was a lovely host and Heaven's Gate is a nice site. VERY out of the way and very peaceful. The site was well kept and the circular design of the yard makes it great for stargazing. The only thing I wasn't quite expecting was how popular this place was for people with horses. Toward the end of the day there were about 2-3 larger trucks and horse trailers pulling in, which did make a bit of noise, but after about 9:30 PM everything was nice and quiet.

It was a nice spot! Horse trailers posted up with beautiful horses. Not much privacy. We didn’t have any expectations as it was a last minute trip. We drove an hour to beavers bend and broken is an hour and a half. There are trails on the campgrounds for the horses that you can hike! There’s a cute Creek that had a campfire option with a hammock. Swimming was an option up the road at another creek. Would be great with kids.

Great camping experience and D'Anna was very helpful and friendly. Trail maps provided of the Billy Creek area. Adorable and clean matching outhouse and shower house. Nice camping spot next to Billy Creek with a fire ring. They also had a horse corral for each site. Great view of the night sky with so many stars and lots of critters singing you to sleep. Highly recommend this little slice of heaven!!!

D’Anna provided excellent facilities including water, electricity, bathroom and hot shower, fire pit with wood as optional, and ample camping space. She went above and beyond from a warm greeting to offering a helping hand when I needed it. Highly recommended.

We had a great time! Went over 4th of July weekend. They had a movie one night with hamburgers and hot dogs, D’Anna was so friendly and it was a great time. We didn’t have horses but if you do, each campsite had areas so the horses were right near you. Thanks for everything!!

It's a nice, secluded place near Billy Creek. The lady that runs this place is really sweet and hospitable. Seems like a great place for horses as it's nestled in what almost count as mountains. The facilities were nicer than I expected.
