Come relax atop the Appalachian foothills of southern Ohio. Enveloped in the heart of the Tranquility Wilderness Area, our 11-acre property features a mix of native pawpaw, peach, pear, and persimmon trees, deciduous forest, cedar woods, wild meadows, a small swimming pond, and a large accessible field for tents and space to play. Trails through the woods are being developed, and facilities expand gradually with the seasons. Enjoy the mellow soundtrack of birds, crickets, and frogs, along with incredibly clear night skies ideal for stargazing. Nearby, visitors can enjoy hiking, kayaking, biking, birding, foraging, fishing, hunting, and swimming on site and at several state parks and historic sites within 10–30 minutes of the farm. Amish country is close, with bakeries, markets, furniture shops, and greenhouses. Our primitive campsites are spaced for privacy. A gravel parking area is available near the Cottage, with additional grass parking in the upper field. Sites may be walk-in only depending on weather and ground conditions. We hope you'll enjoy sharing the orchard, meadows, forest, and pond with us. There's a secret clearing in the woods just off the northwest corner of the upper field across from the beehives. Set up your tent in the woods, or take advantage of the deep shade near the treeline to be able to sleep in and still get those fantastic sunrise views.

Just to the north of Ke's pond are two old oak trees sheltering a moderately sloped clearing, in the clearing is the entrance to the Cedar Wood. The site wraps around the side of the hill following the old logging road. A lichen and moss covered trail wends along the bottom of the grove, revealing a scattering of truly beautiful hike in spots perfect for backpacking tents interspersed in the woods, larger glamp tents can fit in the Oak Grove clearing or along the logging road. Slightly to moderately sloped, fully shaded. Unloading access along the old logging road is available for AWD/4X4 only.

Bring your RV, trailer, or camper van and choose from several graveled or grassy sites at the front of the property. Home Afarm offers pristine dark sky camping atop an Appalachian foothill, nestled in the heart of the Tranquility Wilderness Area. Our 11 acres include native pawpaw and persimmon trees, deciduous forest, cedar woods, wild meadows, and a quarter-acre swimming pond — perfect for foraging, exploring, or quiet reflection. The driveway loop allows for easy camper pull-through with up to 75' of parking and plenty of summer shade to keep your site cool. Grassy sites are available just left of the barn near the fire ring, or within the center of the gravel loop itself. While the loop is adjacent to the Cottage and house, the RV site itself is exclusive to one camper at a time, making setup straightforward for larger rigs. Water, Waste & Amenities There are no hookups or trash service — please plan to pack out your waste. Water is available from our rainwater collection system and a local spring; guests should bring their own drinking water. Fire rings are available, and deadfall on-site can be used for fires. Do not transport firewood from other counties, as this may be prohibited by law. Guest Access & Experience Campers have access to the shared outdoor spaces of Home Afarm, including trails, the pond, and farm meadows. Home Afarm is rustic, eco-conscious, and community-minded, hosting monthly arts, flow arts, and creative events. This is a quiet, nature-focused retreat — perfect for enjoying the forest, wildlife, and dark skies of southern Ohio.

Come try dark sky glamping at its finest. Well-insulated and cozy in all four seasons, the Cottage features a blue flame gas fireplace and ample sleeping and seating. Enjoy magnificent views of the forested hillside, pond, and sunsets from the wraparound porch. Explore the woods or wander down to the pond for a swim — or fish for catfish, bluegill, and more. Located near Serpent Mound and just minutes from the Tranquility Nature Preserve, this is the perfect spot to immerse yourself in nature. - Sleeping: Queen bed, full-over-full bunk, futon, memory foam 'Fuff' couch - Heating & Cooling: Blue flame gas fireplace, window AC (the cabin often regulates naturally with windows open) - Kitchen: Galley kitchen with full electric range, microwave, coffee pot, cookware, dishes, flatware, and kids’ plasticware - Bathroom: Outdoor outhouse on the property’s septic system - Shower: Propane-heated greenhouse shower - Outdoor: Wraparound porch, fire rings, outdoor table, access to shared farm spaces The Cottage does not have running water. The indoor sink has no faucet and drains to a greywater bucket, which should be emptied on the driveway gravel before checkout. Drinking water is available from a local spring near Serpent Mound; a link and directions will be provided at booking. The outdoor sink and shower use our rainwater collection system — be thrifty, fully turn off taps, and report leaks. Rainwater is not potable from the tap. Trash service is not available — please plan to pack out your waste. Septic-safe toilet paper is provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. What to Bring: Towels and bed linens (plenty of blankets are provided), Drinking water, Food and cooking supplies. Do not transport firewood from other counties, as it may be prohibited by state law. Ample deadfall is available or pre-cut bundles can be purchased in the farm store. Guests have exclusive access to the Cottage and shared access to outdoor facilities, including the outhouse and shower. The property has scattered tent sites and a home on-site; optional hot tub passes may be purchased. Home Afarm is friendly and community-minded, hosting monthly arts, flow arts, and creative events — we believe "y'all" means all. Check our website for details.

This cabin was great! True dark sky area was amazing. We had a wonderful view of the northern lights. Highly suggest the extra $20 for the hot tub. Everything was clean and cozy!

The back pocket on Basil's property was on a dead end road no one around no one to bother you no noises through the area oh no great spot to be camping... Glad I found it last minute to get down there and make a good hunting trip out of it... Memories will be forever

Home Afarm was absolutely wonderful.. everything was perfect from start to finish. The cottage was cozy and just right for us, and the outdoor seating area by the fire pit was so peaceful and relaxing! Our hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, and their chicken eggs were AMAZING! Seriously, don’t miss out on those! I also really appreciated that they offer firewood bundles for such an affordable price. We’re already looking forward to planning our next trip back to the cottage! :)

The cottage was cozy and just right for us, and the outdoor seating area by the fire pit was so peaceful and relaxing! Our hosts were incredibly kind and helpful, and their chicken eggs were AMAZING! Seriously, don’t miss out on those! I also really appreciated that they offer firewood bundles for such an affordable price. We’re already looking forward to planning our next trip back to the cottage! :)

Two of us stayed in the Cottage. The cottage was really nicely decorated and spacious. It had a lot of windows for views with thick curtains for night. There is a full size stove and literally 28 outlets. The greenhouse shower was nice and the water got hot quickly even though it was only 39°F outside. The toilet is an outhouse vault toilet like a porta potty but it does have an electric light and lots of tp. The hosts were helpful and chill. We mostly were there to visit the mounds and caves so we didn't explore much of the property but I think you could have a nice weekend just hanging around the farm. It was also a very reasonable price and close to what we wanted to see. I would definitely recommend it

My partner and I had a great time camping on Basils land for a quick birthday weekend get away! The location was beautiful and well maintained, and Basil was extremely accommodating and communicative during our time there. Would definitely camp there again.

Amazing! Basil was super informative and up-front with all needed info. We arrived after dark - Basil simply popped out from next door, checked if we were okay, and left us be. I really appreciated the later check-out - gave us time to use the hot tub in the AM. And of course, that outdoor shower - GREAT!

Basil was an incredible host! Very responsive and informative, greeted me even at my late arrival. The land was so beautiful and the pond lovely. Best outdoor shower I've ever experienced as well! 10/10 would return. P.s. super close to the Serpent Mound, huge plus!

Great place - only compliments to the host and his farm. Loved the hospitality towards my dogs and they in turn loved retriever training in the pond (just happened to have the place to myself which is not a given). I stayed in the cabin several days - liked the AC even through I was away much of the time. Also spent a few days on my camper van. Hot tub is recommended and the shower was nice.

Camping here was fantastic. Everything on the site is very well maintained, the pond was wonderful. The farm shope option was so beneficial and exciting for us. We also got to experience the barn and get a little break from the heat. The greenhouse shower after the pond was also such a cute amenity! We were even met with such lovely hospitality when we ran into car troubles on day of check out. HIGHLY recommend camping here in large or small groups, Bazil was such a delight of a host!

We had the most peaceful and refreshing stay camping on Basil’s land last night. The property is quiet, spacious, and full of natural beauty — perfect for anyone looking to disconnect and enjoy nature. Basil was a kind and welcoming host, making sure we had everything we needed and giving us our space to relax. The site felt safe and well cared for, with plenty of room to set up camp comfortably. We enjoyed the sound of the wind through the trees, the clear night sky, and the overall calm atmosphere — exactly what we needed on our road trip. Very large and comfortable spot for camping. We enjoyed the private surroundings, the chickens, and the nearby pond the most. Hosts were very responsive to our requests. Highly recommend. It was the perfect base for us to explore the Serpent Mound and Chalet Nivale Preserve.

The land was absolutely beautiful, the fireflies were out and the weather was pleasant, hardly any mosquitoes despite there being a pond. The vibe of the camping spot was serene and close to nature and the people who live on the property were kind! I will definitely come back next time I come to visit the serpent mound because it’s super close, and there’s a homey feel to the land.

My family stayed in the cabin and it was very peaceful and comfortable! Basil’s description of the cottage was right on. She was very nice and made us feel comfortable to ask if we needed anything. I would recommend!

First READ THE DESCRIPTION fully- the cottage only has an outhouse; the hot tub is extra, charged by the day. The cottage was clean and cozy. The outhouse was as you would expect. The hot tub was next to the cottage, which might feel weird if you were camping elsewhere on the property and could potentially be loud to a cottage dweller. It is also next to the outdoor kitchen, which could be weird depending. The outdoor shower was so cool- never thought I'd have a reason to say that in life. Close to Serpent Mound, Peebles, etc. Hosts were responsive and as friendly as we wanted- not intrusive.

Basil was a great host; quick responses and friendly. The eggs from her farm were delicious. The places is pet friendly . The property is beautiful with blenty of trees and trails to walk. The cottage comes equipped with lots of amenities such as, stove, mini refrigerator, microwave, window unit for cooling, cooking supplies, and coffee maker. You must provide your own towels and bedding. The cottage is close to Basil's house. Thank you for sharing your property with us.

We loved staying in the cottage. We stayed for almost a week with our dogs during an event and we found it to be very reasonable. Of course, taking a shower outside at 5 am in 45 degrees sounded daunting at first, but was surprisingly doable! And showering under the stars was an amazing experience. We did take advantage of the hot tub once and really enjoyed it. We cooked on the grill outside several times and were lucky enough to witness the Aurora Borealis one evening. They are attentive hosts but we were also given all the privacy we needed. I would absolutely recommend this place!

Quiet area, cute cabin with comfy beds. Emptying the gray water was not mentioned to us, & the bucket under the sink overflowed on our last day. Just be sure to ask about it!
