Higher Ground Camping is located on top of a mountainous ridge in southern Ohio overlooking 7 acres of woods in Vinton, OH. It is in a remote location but also near an access road. The sites are shaded by 30-40 ft trees in a serene and picturesque setting. There are many lakes nearby for fishing such as Lake Alma, Lake Rupert, Lake Snowden and Tycoon Lake. Old Man’s Cave in Hocking Hills is under an hour drive and other local attractions. Primitive sites with potable water and portable toilets provided. Excellent camping location for deer hunters, many public hunting grounds nearby. Local Attractions: -Buckeye Furnace (Iron and Brass Works Company built in 1852) - 6.3 miles -Tycoon Lake - 12 miles -Lake Rupert - 19 miles -Lake Alma - 16 miles -Lake Snowden - 24 miles -Wayne National Forest - 40 miles -Ash Cave Hocking Hills - 39 miles -Old Man’s Cave - 44 miles -Richland Furnace ATV Trail - 21 miles -Wayne National Forest ATV trails - 50 miles

Site #1 Smaller primitive tent camping site nestled in the middle of very tall trees, mostly shaded. This site is on the same side of the access road site #2, just south of it. Fire ring and your first bundle of firewood is free. Additional firewood available for purchase. Farm fresh eggs are also available for purchase. Hunters welcome; no hunting on the property but there are public hunting grounds nearby. Local Attractions: -Buckeye Furnace (Iron and Brass Works Company built in 1852) - 6.3 miles -Tycoon Lake - 12 miles -Lake Rupert - 19 miles -Lake Alma - 16 miles -Lake Snowden - 24 miles -Wayne National Forest - 40 miles -Ash Cave Hocking Hills - 39 miles -Old Man’s Cave - 44 miles
