In 1955 when my family bought our 180-acre farm, there were Shagbark Hickory trees lining both shores of a rock-filled stream. Years later a 550-acre lake was created from damming our stream and Hickory shores became the wildlife- filled headwaters. Bald Eagles, fox, river otters, ospreys, beaver, and deer are frequent visitors to our farm along with other water birds and wildlife. Recreational opportunities are plentiful including fishing, paddle boarding, canoeing and kayaking. The 50 mile Western Reserve Greenway paved bike trail is 1 1/2 miles away on country roads and other adjoining roads create unlimited quiet country rides and walks. In 2023 we have added a 3/4 mile wooded trail along the shores of Rock Creek with lookouts and 27 numbered stops. These stops are described in our Hickory Shores interpretive guide available at the trailhead. Additional hiking trails continue upstream and connect two seasonal waterfalls on the property. Benches along the way provide quiet spots to rest or picnic. Spectacular sunsets, a quiet country paved road and Amish buggies await your visit. We are in Ashtabula County, home to 32 wineries and 19 covered bridges including the shortest and longest in the U.S. The second weekend in October brings the Covered Bridge Festival in nearby Jefferson, Ohio. We are conveniently located south of Lake Erie and 16 miles east of Pymatuning Reservoir for additional recreational opportunities. We currently offer 2 campsites, and both are conveniently located near a cottage style bathroom which features a flush toilet and shower. The electric site provides a 30 amps connection and a hook-up to water if desired. Each site has a campfire ring with outdoor chairs. A redwood picnic table is located at each site. An outdoor utility sink is also provided for dishwashing and can be found outside the bathhouse. Abundant firewood is available for $5.00 a wheelbarrow. (Honor system). If you are bringing dogs, please be aware that Sunny the inside/outside cat may greet you (he loves to say hello). For his safety and the safety of your pet, please keep dogs leashed. Please NO SMOKING allowed on farm or in bathroom.

The campfire will be ready to light and chairs plus a picnic table with umbrella are nearby for camper use. Additional firewood is available for $5.00 a wheelbarrow. A shared tent with an outdoor dining table and cushioned chairs is also available for campers at Hickory Shores and provides shelter for rainy or sunny weather. This season we are only accepting reservations on this camping site (Hickory Shores electric RV or tent site ) so guests will have a very convenient and more quiet camping experience and one campsite use of our bathroom shower house. Please NO SMOKING is allowed on farm or in bathroom.

My family loved camping on Marcia and Jack’s land! We were greeted right away when we arrived Marcia and jack showed us around and helped us get settled making sure we knew where everything was. The trails were so fun to hike and very clearly marked. The bathroom was such a treat especially after a long hot day at the beach with a dirty kid lol. There’s a very convenient outdoor sink that was great for washing dishes. My son didn’t want to go home! At night it was so peaceful and quite definitely 10 out of 10!

We loved staying at Marcia & Jack’s Hipcamp. The place was easy to access for first time pop-up trailer campers. Jack offered his expertise and patient guidance in helping to navigate parking the camper. All utilities were available, along with a wonderful bathhouse and fire pit lovely hosts lovely place. Would definitely stay there again.

One of the best places to stay here in Ohio. Absolutely beautiful grounds. Many trails, wonderful wildlife. Exactly what I needed during this holiday weekend. Stayed overnight. Decided to storm but this did not detract from my trip. Definitely will be back. Thank you so much for your hospitality. Your wonderful! ❤️

Such an amazing experience. Marcia and Jack were such sweet, amazing, interesting and accommodating people. The property was so beautiful and peaceful. So much time and care is put into everyday and it shows. Thank you so much for letting us come and enjoy your little slice of paradise this week. The kids, Mary, frank and I loved every minute of it!!!!

Amazing set up and the hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. It was very well kept and relaxing! The bath house was very nice and we appreciated the outdoor sink to do dishes. The hosts mentioned a few hiking trails that sounded amazing and the property itself is very quiet and full of nature. We only stayed one night on our way passing through but would definently stay again if we are ever in the area.

Marcia's land was easy to find, and we were immediately met by Marcia and Jack who helped us set up. The property is lovely and peaceful, with a wonderful bath house, fire pit, outdoor shaded picnic table, and more. The walking trail is a must - make sure you take along the story book interpretive guide! Great property, perfect hosts. We hope to return.

We loved staying at Marcia and Jack's over Labor Day weekend. The site was large and beautiful. We followed the nature trail using the guide provided by our hosts. It was so fun to learn about the different plants and animals and to hear their family stories. Marcia and Jack checked in with us daily, even bringing us some tomatoes from their garden. We can't wait to return to Hickory Shores!

Great host. Super friendly. Trails and pond to explore. Restroom is by far the best I have seen for outdoor amenities. Quiet and peaceful. Great fire pit to look at the stars, which can be seen.

We loved our trip to Marcia’s land, it was extremely peaceful and relaxing! We spent the weekend touring around the area and wine tasting in Geneva. We loved walking on their trails on the land, and picking berries and apples from their garden. Jack gave us a wonderful tour of their place and made some great recommendations for places to go. The bathroom was really clean and the shower felt excellent after a long day. Definitely the nicest camp bathroom we have ever had! The spot we camped in was right next to their garden and we got to hear lots of the wildlife throughout the weekend. We are looking forward to a trip back in the near future!

We had an amazing time at Hickory Shores! Marcia and Jack are such kind hosts and take really good care of their property. The gardens are beautiful, the bathroom is amazing, and the walking trails were just what we needed to get some short walks in with our senior dog. Be sure to read the handy trail guide to get the history of the land and learn about the trees. We hope we can return again!

It was a great place for, fishing, walking trails, Marcia and Jack were quit the host, Jack would check on us everyday, there were berries, apples and pears. They even had an outside sink for washing dishes, there is a beautiful indoor powder room with a huge shower. We even got to see a couple of Amish horse and buggy, I loved the sound of the horses gallop

Hickory Shores was one of the best highlights to my trip to Ohio. Wonderful experience and Marcia and Jack were awesome hosts. Definitely will try to visit there, the next time I am in town. Besides I didn't get to try their Local Mexican cuisine.

Everything was perfect! The initial communication, directions, greeting upon arrival, ease of parking our trailer, an adorable and clean powder room, our immediate surroundings... all were lush and beautiful. The personal touches were very much appreciated. Fresh cut flowers, garden goodies, golden retrievers, trail guides, and more! We felt truly welcomed and very much enjoyed our conversations with Jack and Marcia. We are eager to return when we have time to enjoy all the amazing experiences their land offers... we sadly left waterfalls unexplored after a spectacular storm, and so much more?! A reminder to slow down on our next pass through/near Rome, OH... and every day. Please do not hesitate reserving your time here.

It was a beautiful country side setting, full of fruits, berries, veggies, flowers, floral bushes, anddd fishing. Wonderful trails to walk just to relax. There is a stream for kids to play in, a huge pond for either fishing or swimming, there's also the creek for advanced fishers.Marsh a and Jack were amazing host, checked on campers daily. If you like a bit of home life, there is a beautiful powder room, clean with a huge shower

Magical place - such care and attention to detail! The trails, pond and river are such amazing amenities and the bathroom is a major bonus!!! Plus Marcia and Jack are so welcoming and accommodating. Definitely planning on coming again.

My husband and I absolutely loved staying at Hickory Shores! The property was easy to find and the hosts were beyond welcoming! The bathhouse was such a luxury after nights of camping prior. Also, the nature trail that allows you to explore the property is a feature you won’t want to miss! If you’re traveling in the area, I highly recommend staying here!

My kids refer to this place as paradise & they are right. Marcia and Jack are so warm and welcoming. Jack showed us where to find all of the best berries & even jewel weed to soothe the bug bites. The property is full of fun things to see and do. The bathroom was so nice and spotlessly clean. This one will be hard to beat. We will definitely be back!!!!

We loved camping in our travel trailer on Marcia and Jack’s farm! They have thought of EVERYTHING!!! The “Powder Room”/Bath House that Jack built is beautiful and very clean. Marcia has created several hiking trails throughout their property. We enjoyed following them to their pond and waterfalls. They even extended an invitation to us to pick from their blueberry bushes! Their camping sites are spread out, providing privacy for each group, and every campsite has its own fire ring. They have firewood available for a small cash fee. They also offer plenty of information regarding things to do in the area. We enjoyed viewing several of the covered bridges in Ashtabula County. Our weekend at Marcia’s campground was incredibly relaxing and peaceful. We look forward to returning!

This property was beautiful and the hosts were communicative and helpful. The bath house was SUCH a nice thing to have! We didn’t get to explore too much due to storms, but we plan to come back and enjoy the property more thoroughly.

Simply the BEST! We stayed in the RV site. The site is grass and it is level. Very private and separate from the other camp sites they offer. Gorgeous landscaping with multiple trails on the property. There’s so much to do! Biking, hiking, swimming, and tons of wildlife to see. We used the fire pit and watched the fireflies, it was breathtaking! The power room is close and clean, newly built and fresh. Marsha and Jack are devoted stewards of the land and it’s shows. Very friendly and kind people who care that you have a nice experience on their property.

Beautifully tended yards for camping, replete with numerous picnic tables and chairs. Fantastically clean shower bathroom cabin. Marcia and Jack were super friendly and helpful. If you like birding, their property will not disappoint! An idyllic camping experience!

First HipCamp stay completely exceed our expectations!! Can’t say enough good things about this property and all it has to offer. Our only regret is we couldn’t stay longer! The powder room & fire pit, all the trails and the pond… such a treat. Marcia and Jack have set the bar pretty high!

The hosts very friendly and took extra time to show us their well maintained trails. The restroom was immaculate. They even had us set up in a different area than we had reserved to be more comfortable out of the sun.
