I found this camping option when looking for a place that had a shelter we could camp under. My daughter and I go camping every fall and the night we were supposed to go camping it was supposed to rain, a lot. And it did. I reached out to Emma to see if we could secure a cover to place our tent under and she had one available. The location was cool, as it's about 150 yards from the Neuse River Greenway. They also have horses, so my daughter was thrilled to pet them. We fished some in the river and caught one fish. James, Emma's son, I think, met us when we arrived and showed us to our site. He's great and seemed excited we were there. He was helpful in giving us the lay of the land. Overall it was a great experience. The heavy rain on the tin roof of the cover kept us up most of the night but it was better than a wash out. I think we'll camp here again, but we do like to experience new places, so it may be a couple of years. I do highly recommend trying it out if you're looking for a place. It was unique (in a good way) and a good change from somewhere like Falls Lake campground.

Emma was so accommodating at the last minute!! I accidentally drove a bit out of my way and thankfully she welcomed me in at 8pm with little notice. She wrote out detailed instructions for me to get into the camp. Her son, James, was awesome and gave me a tour of their place. He even introduced me to the horses. The land was seriously so special, and something I won’t forget. I’m so grateful I got to stay here and experience it. Thank you, Emma and James!

What an awesome campsite! The host was so kind and welcoming and even gave us a tour of their beautiful, tucked-away land. They had some beautiful friendly horses, beautiful open fields, and easy access to the Neuse River Trail which made for some great evening walks. We will definitely be back!

This site was a wonderful getaway from the city! The renter personally greeted us and showed us around the farm. There was plenty of open space, yet trees for privacy between sites. Would definitely recommend!

Camping at River Farm on the Neuse River Trail provided a multitude of fun things to do both on the farm and locally. When we arrived, we texted Emma, our camp hostess, who then, met us at the parking area and gave Louis my dog & I a tour of the grounds, showing us our campsite meadow and camp faciltites. Our camp site was both on the furthest southernmost border of the farm and right next to an access point to the Neuse River Trail, which was great for nature walks and cycling during the day and total quite and seclusion at night. After I set-up camp, Louis and I were ready to explore. Exploring the farm, we met the farm's horses and wandered through the large meadows, where Louis got to run off-leash. Next, we enjoyed a relaxing walk along the Neuse River Trail before retrurning to camp and heading to Walmart — only 15 minutes away — for supplies. On the way back, we stoppoed at the Neuse River Trail Capital Area Greenway, where we met some locals and checked out some more trails. As the sun set, Louis and I had dinner and then I played a few tunes on my guitar before we both climbed into the tent for the night. The following morning’s sunrise was one of those gray soft light calm morning sunrises that was perfect for my morning routine of coffee and journal writting. I definitely recommend camping at River Farm on the Neuse River Trail and Louis and I had a fun and relaxing time.

It was a great place to spend the night especially after having to pull my bike over 2 miles out of 30 through the mud along the trail. I met the owner’s son and had some great conversations. It was very quiet and we camped close the trail for easy access via bike. We will be back.

I loved camping at River Fam Camp, it was amazing 2 weeks. The host, Emma, and her son James were absolutely lovely! I truly hated having to leave. Gorgeous property and land area. Easy Access to the Trail & Privacy

River Farm on the Neuse provides a unique opportunity to camp in the meadows of a private farm along the Neuse River Trail. It was the perfect site for complete privacy, easy access to the Trail and being in a less commercial campground than what you normally encounter. Emma and family were the perfect hosts and I am sure we will return the next time that we bike the Neuse River Trail.

Beautiful piece of land with multiple private areas for camping. Convenient access to potable water and a porta-john. The property backs up to the Neuse River Greenway Trail, so it is convenient to ride bikes straight from the site, with a single track mountain bike trail system (Williamson Preserve) about a mile away.

A Refreshing Camping Getaway!

I had a wonderful camping experience here! The location is surprisingly close to downtown, yet it feels like a peaceful escape far from the city buzz. The hosts have two friendly horses, which added a charming touch to the stay. One of the highlights was watching fireflies at night — truly magical! There are several designated camping spots to choose from, and they also allow access to the restroom in their home, which was very convenient. Right next to the site, there’s a scenic cycling and walking trail running along the Neuse River — perfect for a relaxing morning or evening stroll. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quick nature escape without leaving the city area!

Absolutely wonderful Stay! The host is an absolute joy. The property and horses are great ! We enjoy a wonderful convention with the host and she is so accommodating. We stayed here so we could enjoy a concert near by. There is so much to do within a short distance. Definitely will be back when we are in the area.

We were looking for a safe / quiet place to stay in our campervan for a few nights close to the Neuse River Trail. This spot was perfect! Trail access is directly on the property (no need to ride or walk on main roads to get there). Emma and co were super responsive to our questions, and it was so nice to wake up to see the horses each morning!

I arrived by bicycle from the Greenway. There is a gate to access the farm without having to ride on a busy road. Emma met me with firewood! Camped under a shelter which kept the dew off my tent & bike. Emma was genuine and hospitable. I will return and tell other cyclists.
