The camping location is between two roads, but no cars traveled through the night. It has all you need for a basic camping. On the day we were supposed to check out Kim allowed us to leave the trailer and go hiking and come back to collect it after the check out time.

I almost hate to rave about this place because I don’t want it to get too busy, but I won’t be selfish. This site is a hidden gem. Close to multiple places to hike or sight see for the day. Stone Mountain is very close.

Really enjoyed my stay here!! Kim was wonderful and hospitable, and very quick in communicating. I ended up being the only camper there which was blissful but also a little scary at night being that the country road was 30 or so feet from my tent. There are other sites further from the road (only 1 car passes every hour or so) I just wanted to be close for the view which was beautiful! There’s an abundance of firewood, picnic tables, hammock -ready trees. The bathrooms and showers were an incredible bonus. The water is warm and toilet stocked with tissue paper. All for a very reasonable price. Cheaper price than most government sites. Highly recommended!

I really enjoyed Ms. Kim’s campground. It is truly one of my new favorites. It has showers, flush toilets, electricity, and water at every site. For the price, you can’t beat it!! It is an older campground, and has seen better days. If you are used to Yogi and KOAbsolutely-ridiculous-expensive-fancy-glamping, this place is not for you. If you want to explore Stone Mountain, Doughton Park, or just the northern NC portion of the parkway this is an excellent base. It is currently less expensive than the state park, where you will not have electricity or water at your site, and Doughton, where you won’t even have showers. I was the only camper when I was there, so you may even get lucky enough to have the whole place to yourself.

Very nice alternative to government run sites, had hot showers, water at each site, and plenty of firewood! A little close to a road but wasn’t a busy one. Owners are super caring and overall a great spot!

Had a great time camping at Kim’s! It was quiet, super close to the Blue Ridge Parkway, and provides access to all you’d need while camping. For someone use to dispersed camping, it was semi-glamorous!

If you are looking for a campsite somewhere between deep woods boondocking and a pristine, attendant maintained campground this may be exactly what you are looking for. It has power and water at many sites, a functional although not particularly "nice" shower house (with plenty of hot water). There were roads on each side of the campground although they were not visible from many of the sites and almost no traffic passed. The location is great with 3 small mountain towns (Sparta, Elkin and Galax) within 30 minutes. The sunsets were beautiful. Although we didn't need anything, Kim reached out to let us know she was available for any needs we may have. As long as you know the type of site you are getting, it was really great and we will be back soon.

We had such a great time camping here for a second time!! The host was so gracious and accommodating- we arrived as some property maintenance was happening and he let us pick out our spot and he mowed and leafblowed it for us right then, and even brought us over some firewood. The location is beautiful and feels secluded and safe while still being easily accessible. Even in the rain we had a lovely night!!

Great little spot. I was looking last minute for a place to camp for MDW and stumbled upon this place. The owner was very friendly and communicated throughout the entire process. Sent us a welcome message with detailed instructions on how to get it the camp site. The spot has everything you need for camping. Electricity, water, bathrooms, and even a shower. The site is welcoming with picnic tables, fire pits, grill grates, and firewood! There is common area with a covered shelter that also has tables, outlets, and a fire place. This common area was great as it rained during our stay, provided a place to stay dry and warm. The place was clean and quiet as well. Everything you need for camping, not glamping. We will definitely be back. The rates were more than reasonable as well.

Camping close to Stone Mtn

Kim’s place is truly a jewel. Rustic, private, but with electricity at all sites, plus flush toilets and HOT water showers. AND for groups there is a big pavilion with a great fireplace and picnic tables. Conveniently located for hikers going to Stone Mtn State Park. I can’t wait to go back! Although, I’m giving Kim’s place a good review, I hope she’ll always have a spot for me (not TOO popular)!

Such a cool spot, and extremely reasonable on price! Has a bathhouse with hot water, just watch out for spiders….. Good cell signal (Verizon) It was quite windy so wasn’t able to throw the drone up to capture the epic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Will be book again and highly recommend! Thanks Kim! :)

Kim's campground is quaint and quiet. The campground is close to the road if that matters to you, but it's not busy traffic. The bath house is primitive but provides everything you need. Great communication and beautiful location. Plenty of dead wood around to make a fire each night.

This was a great area for an inexpensive, quiet time away. The Blue Ridge Parkway is nearby. Stone Mountain for hiking, a meadery, and the town of Sparta was within driving distance. If you just need a place to stay without much frills, this is the place. It is also cared for better than many other places out there. Kim was also very kind and available for us if needed. The only issue I found was there was no water available on the sites.

Blue Ridge Mountains Quiet Serenity

Very cool place, and the host was very nice. He let me park my bike in that garage looking structure with the fireplace since no one else was there. That kept me out of the rain/morning dew. Bathrooms, shower and lights all worked.

The campground has a lot of potential to be good, unfortunately it appears at first glance to be somewhat abandoned. I think with some cleaning up and also having an on-site manager it could be a great site

Kim was very sweet and helpful and responsive! Overall we got the camping experience, the sites were obvious and spaced out pretty well, the only issue was our site didn’t have running water the entire time so we had to walk to other sites to get water. The bathrooms don’t look like they ever really get maintained, lots of spiders in there, not the most sanitary, especially the boys bathroom which had snake skin in the shower, but showers had hot water. We did have other campers, but they didn’t bother us much. Place is definitely secluded with pretty views. Overall, this place has a lot of potential, but needs a good amount of upkeep done to it. We had a great time and there was plenty of wood scattered around to make fires for every night we stayed there, as you are covered by trees! Nice and cool and a great getaway!

A easy access to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Mt Airy, NC. I spent 3 nights there while exploring this section of the Parkway. My stay was very peaceful and I welcomed the electrical hook ups with a cold front that came through the area.

We felt pics were not representative of condition of campground as many pics were dated 2019 and we feel current condition is poor. Not maintained, litter scattered. 2 permanent/long term campers in poor condition. No water or electricity when we arrived. Host did come quickly and said breaker was flipped so this was corrected. Electrical hookup on one site definitely not safe for outdoor installation - non weatherproof plug just hanging with electrical connection hardwired in to an extension cord. Wires were exposed. We opted to move on and find another campground rather than stay the night.
