This site was gorgeous! James was an excellent host, ensuring that I had everything I needed and was quick to accommodate my last minute decision to stay at his site. He gave me recommendations on where to hike and there’s even small trails around his property. Site 3 was absolutely gorgeous and pretty private, except for the occasional sounds of loud vehicles on the road. Thanks so much for the generosity!

We got in within the time window and, after communicating with James about when we’d get there, he met us at our site, after he gave very clear instructions of where it was. Our site was large, but also secluded away from the other campers! We were in site two. He then filled us in on everything we would need to know! Walked us to the outhouse, gave instruction on where to set up a kitchen system, and also let us know the walking paths and if there were folks in the other two sites! We had a wonderful night, but in the morning, our car battery was dead! We contacted James and he immediately came out and helped us with a jump. Then, we were on our way to Rhinebeck (the reason we came)! We came back to another quiet and peaceful night. Overall, amazing site, amazing property, and amazing host!!!

Quiet nice spot not far from some cute Catskill spots! We only stayed one night due to the rain but had a lovely time. James was a welcoming and sweet host. Would stay again!

We had a great weekend on Jim’s land, and Jim was a communicative and welcoming host. The site is very private with some road noise during the day that quiets down at night. We even heard owls during our stay.

We had a great time camping at site #3. Everything was exactly as described if not even better. James was extremely accommodating and helpful with getting settled in.
Jim’s a great host, talked us in when our navigator sent us into an endless loop. Only stayed overnight, worked great.

Great spot, spaced far enough from other campsites. Host was a great communicator. Fire pits available. Exactly as advertised, I highly recommend for an outdoor stay in the Catskills
It was our first time camping, the camp so was ready for us and we didn’t have any trouble getting things set up. The host was really nice and helpful he gave us possible hiking spots, and he let us relax in the days that we were there. Loved the atmosphere of Camp 1.
Jim has a beautiful property which he shares with others. Met Jim at the site, we covered the details and he showed me the loo. (Hats off to Jim. Most outhouse seats are too high. The feet dangle and not what you were hoping for. Jim has built his outhouse spot on!!). Beautiful site. Super quiet. Wonderful host.

Great spot! Awesome home base for a weekend in the Catskills.
Site 3 was beautiful, tucked away, and very secluded! We could not hear a thing. Short trip to Rip Van Winkle brewery and central to a lot of cute towns. Bring bug spray!

We had such a perfect weekend staying on James's land, visiting a nearby creek and taking a couple of James's suggestions for Greens Lake and ice cream by the water on Bridge St, which were great. The set up was wonderful with plenty of flat space for our tent, and the fire pit and picnic table within a beautiful wooded area of large trees. The sounds of crickets, frogs, cicadas, and owls was so amazing. The outhouse was clean and well taken care of. James was really welcoming and nice, and funny too! We didn't chat for too long but we would have enjoyed more conversation with him, especially to learn more about the trees and mushrooms on the property. Next time! Highly recommend this lovely spot.

We thoroughly enjoyed James' Hipcamp site. Everything was clean, clear and quiet; even the outhouse was spotless. Lots of help if needed, including places to visit and other area resources. We definitely recommend it as a great private outpost for exploring the area.

We had such a great stay at James’s campsite! The location was quiet, relaxing, and had everything we needed for a comfortable night outdoors. James was welcoming when we arrived and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our stay. We’d happily stay here again if we’re back in the area. Thanks again, James!
This was our second stay on James's land, and we had another great experience. The campsite was peaceful and surrounded by trees. James is a great host—responsive, helpful, and he provided clear directions. We'd happily stay here again!

No problem driving up to the site with a 2WD sedan. James made sure to pave a spot so I could back in with no issues. He had the wood I purchased at the site next to the fire pit and the jug for dishes was very helpful.
James greeted me at the site, provided a sheet with links to different hikes and things to do in the area, then walked me around the camp. Bert friendly and professional, including sending a message in the morning to make sure everything went well the night before.
Site was secluded, well maintained, and the sound of the wildlife at night was everything I was hoping for. Site has decent cell reception and a Walmart is less than 10 minutes away in case you forget anything. Will be back again.
We had a lovely time camping at site 1. James was a gracious host, and he's done so much to make the area a nice place for camping. While the listing says there isn't water, James surprised us with a 5 gallon jug of non-potable water for us to use. The offer of dropping off firewood was a nice touch. We would definitely be back - it was so quiet, serene, and restorative. :)

Loved camping here! Our campsite was quite peaceful and well prepared. James greeted us as we arrived and was very responsive to messages. We enjoyed a fire in the evening and saw a family of turkeys in the morning. Next time we are in the area, we will definitely stay again. Thanks, James!

James’s campsite was incredibly peaceful and beautiful. He was very kind, brought us firewood and water for washing up. He even sent a text to make sure we were ok in a little storm. Would love to come back again.
