Muddy View- A 2 acre, half wooded lot that is located in the rolling hills of New Kingston, NY, just 10 minutes away from Margarettville. As the name implies, there can be a fair amount of water on the property if it rains, but if you look around, there are spots that are not so muddy and make a nice campsite. The property has a home on it, and the campsites are on the backside of the property. There is a fire pit on a cleared section for tenting if you'd like. If the weather is nice it gives great views of the mountain across the valley during the day, and hopefully a clear sky at night filled with stars. WiFi is available, please ask for the current password if you'd like to connect. It's very fast ( upload and download ) and the signal is strongest near to the home. Signal is intermittent by campsites. You can use electrical plugs on the exterior of the home if you'd like.Back left of the property is an area under tree cover if you prefer. The middle is a larger cleared out area with a fire pit and a clear view of the sky and the mountains across the valley. There are some muddy and rocky spots so bring a tarp. You’re free to camp anywhere. WiFi is available, please ask for the latest password and signal strength works best close to the house. The home has cameras on the front and rear, and will be disabled once you arrive on the property.

Campfires allowed
Firepit. As I take down dead trees and cut them up, there will be firewood stacked at the top but this is not a guarantee there will be wood. You may cut and harvest only fallen dead trees / branches on the property. Felling of dead or live trees is not permitted.
Pets allowed
Off leash. I have a medium sized lab mix dog that runs around on the property, but there aren't any fences that would keep them from running away off the property if they so choose. There are deer and dog ticks that are in the high grass so just be mindful of that as well. There are black bear, coyotes, fox and recently a Fisher that visit the property as well. If your pet is on the smaller side, just be mindful of where they are, we love our pets and want them to have a fun time too. I've gone backpacking with a pug in black bear country and we had a pack of coyotes close ( 500 feet ) from us at night. We kept him near us and off leash during the day, and slept with him in the tent at night. We all had a great time. Do as you see fit. .
No toilet; campers must bring camp toilets
Picnic table present
There is a picnic table at the clearing along with some chairs. Please feel free to use them as needed.
Wifi available
WiFi is available and the reception by the camps in the back can be spotty. Closer to the will give you the best reception. Please ask me for the most current password if you'd like to connect. The power on the house is left on and you can use the outlets on the side of the home if you'd like.
No potable water
Bring your own water, purify from river or stream. I put a green 5 gallon potable container filled with water under the spruce by the red shed just incase you have trouble finding water.
No showers
There is a cut to the North ( left side when facing the front of the house from the street ) with a stone wall that usually has water running down it. You can collect water from there. If it has rained in the last day or so there will be running water there.
Pack it out
This is a "take in, take out" home. Thank you.

Incredible place to camp
Tent
Things only get more beautiful here in Summer! We once again had an amazing time camping at Muddy Views. The site was even better than before, with multiple pathways and courtyards mowed into the field of wildflowers and natural grasses. We saw and heard all kinds of birds and other woodland creatures and we had no problems with bugs or anything. Mike is an exceptional host and has gone out of his way to accommodate and help us a couple times now. Really couldn't ask for more. If you're looking for peaceful relaxation in a beautiful setting, this one is definitely worth the trip!

We loved camping at muddy with a view! A great, private spot with easy access to the Catskills and abundant stars at night. Michael was communicative and easy to work with. Brought my dog who also loved the space to roam and explore! Would definitely recommend having 4WD and a vehicle you feel comfortable driving up a grassy hill to get to the site. Overall great stay and would book again!!

Beautiful Serenity in the Catskills
Tent
Amazing property with privacy and amazing views night and day. We had an amazing time and Mike is a spectacular host who was very easy to reach and very friendly and accommodating. We came here as astronomy nerds looking for a darksky area to go stargazing in and we were not disappointed in the least. The night sky was incredibly beautiful. Not to mention all of the hiking trails, parks and other nature in the area... we wish we had more time to enjoy everything but 100% will be back to this location. The property itself isn't too hard to locate, but the cell phone coverage is (blessedly) minimal. Fantastic if you are looking for some peace and quiet, but make sure you're prepared ahead of time and download some maps! The whole area is like this, but that honestly was one of our favorite parts. The host put a lot of effort into prepping the area and making sure we were comfortable via message. True to the listing, we had total privacy and quiet which is so rare to find. Really a gem, can't wait to be back!
