Mountainside Camp is actually 6 miles from Naples in the Town of Italy, NY at the Southern tip of Canandaigua Lake. This is a carry in/carry out camp site. This location is "Dry Camping"; no water or electric; just a port a potty. Italy Valley is a gorgeous hidden part of New York. Be one with The Great Outdoors near New York's picturesque Canandaigua Lake in the Finger Lakes. Our Mountainside Camp offers a retreat for the fully equipped camper who wants to get off the beaten path. There is an Eagle's Nest about 2 miles North on Route 245, pass Coward Rd., watch across valley in a big dead tree about 400 yards away. When you see the nest, you'll know it. I've seen an Eagle perching on the tree. Here, you're within driving and biking distance to the Town of Naples, NY (Grimes Glen Park), and Canandaigua Lake, and all of the beauty and culture of the Finger Lakes Region is at your doorstep: vineyards and wine tours, water fun on the lake... and so much more. Within an hours drive you can bike, hike, camp fish, boat or swim in 7 of the 11 FINGER LAKES (Conesus, Hemlock, Canadice, Honeoye, Canandaigua, Keuka, and Seneca. Keep truckin' and hit Cayuga, Owasco, Skaneateles and Otisco. (or 90 minutes until you reach the 11th FINGER LAKE, Otisco) The camp has come along way since it was established (June 2017) when our Scout Camper came to stay***, with "Base Camp" site maturing with level tent sites, fire pits, benches, tables, port-a-potty. "Hawks Landing" site (1/2 way up the hill) making progress as well, not so much road noise up here. "Eagles Nest"; all the way up is the most private deep in the woods, 1000 feet back! More carved out camp sites to come soon I hope. ***Carry in and carry out. I'm shocked at the liter left by some campers. This is a simple privately owned piece of land that I've been renting out for the lower cost, no frills private location. PLEASE just leave as you find it; most do, thank you.

Site #4 "Hawk's Landing" is up the mountain about 300 yards. Fire ring and benches near owl house. Nice area in a clearing with room for many tents. Can see neighbor's water falls (seasonal) in the gully below. Quiet and peaceful with light or no road noise. Far from parking and port a potty.

Sit #3 "Creek View" is a good hike up the hill. Straight up past Site #4 "Hawk's Landing" then go right (South) about 200 yards. Fire ring next to seasonal creek. Can hear babbling brook with flowing. Space for 2-3 tents. Very quiet and far from road, parking and port a potty.

Site #6 "Roadside" is next to road and primary spot to park an RV. Benches and fire ring. Great view of valley across the street. Also go for a quick overnight stop. Will have raod noice. Close to port a potty and can park right next to site.

Site #2 "Base Camp"
The port a potty there is unusable, looks like it was abandoned there years ago. Also looked like one of the campsites was abandoned, absolutely covered in trash. There were tents up but we didn't see or hear anyone there the whole time so seemed like they just up and left, and that site was showing still available to rent for the night on the app. Messaged the host and he never replied.

The site itself is good - I happened to be there on an especially hot night, transport trucks were flying by on the road 100 metres away which was loud and bright even at 1 AM. There was a meteor shower the night I was there, but there were ground lights. If you need to follow a path, the ground lights are a nice touch. If you're specifically looking for things to be as dark as possible, bit in the way. I think on a cooler night - September, October - this place would be great. I arrived late and left early because I was driving for many hours before and after, but I think this is a good site. Better if it were a bit farther from the road (it was a safe distance, just loud and bright) but the road itself was a low-traffic county road, so probably it doesn't have much traffic usually.

I had the entire place to myself. Beautiful land with streams and cliffs. I'll definitely stay again if I ever pass through this way.

Site #1 "Mini Base Camp"
Lots of trees and nicely wooded areas. Nice babbling creek. Close to other hiking areas. The site is very hilly with very few flat spots for a tent. This would be a lot of fun with a large group. Lots of benches, fire pits, tiki torches and an available port o John with toilet paper.

Exactly what we were looking for. A little bit of a hike to get to the site but the view and area were absolutely worth it. We had a great time!

Site #5 "Eagle's Nest"
Campsites were beautiful and well maintained. Peaceful sleeping between the trees near a babbling brook, owls and hawks can be heard overhead. Easily accessable from the road too. Host left firewood for us which was much appreciated! Only issue was finding campsites - host posted a rudimentary map but the trail was poorly marked and hard to navigate.

Site #1 "Mini Base Camp"
Would not recommend. Base camp #1 site is covered in poison ivy, and a dead ash tree is standing in the middle of the site causing a high risk of falling on a tent. The porta-potty hasn't been maintained and was totally un-usable due to a carpet of spider webs filling the inside.

The owner is great. It is a very quiet place. It is a great place if you are looking to be out away from everyone. There is no running water there and only an outhouse for the bathroom.
