It was an amazing property. Lots of places to walk in the woods. If that not your thing, you can sit on the porch and chill. He had a pond. I can't wait to come back again.

Rustic woods camping
Mike is doing a great job making his land fun and enjoyable for campers of all ages. My friends‘ one and a half year-old loved the Gnome Trail. My friends and I enjoyed the forest and privacy of our camping spot. There is also a new pond nearby and lots of trails to walk on. If you are in the Ripley area, this is the place to camp.

Our 2nd stay and we loved it just as much as the first. Host Michael is very helpful and always ready to lend a hand as is his helper. People who stay here are chill and it beats the hell out of a state park. We’ll keep coming back. ~Pete, Char and Cain the RottenPitt

Oh my was I grateful for this stay & the wonderful people here!
I arrived late on night 5/6 of a long cross country trip and immediately got my car stuck in the mud. I was greeted by the sweetest couple who told me they had initially come to camp for 1 night and ended up staying over a month as remote workers. I saw very quickly that this is definitely the kind of place someone would have trouble leaving.
They reassured me it would be no problem to get my car out the next morning + let me stay in the wonderful A-frame on the pond because of the rain. I was sooo grateful to be dry & warm. The next morning, I was so pleased to meet 2 more wonderful members of the crew. Michael can best be described as a big ball of light. Not just because he got my car unstuck effortlessly. A jolly and down to earth conversationalist.
Truly lovely people here who had me belly laughing early morning before the last leg of my travels. I left with a full heart & a deeper appreciation for humans. Thank you so much. Lots of peace and love to you all. I hope to come back sometime! <3

This is great spot to camp or stay the night on a long road trip. There are lots of spots to pull your car up to set up camp, a communal kitchen, two bathrooms, and even a shower! Michael was extremely accommodating and friendly. If I’m ever in the Lake Erie region again I would definitely revisit!

Love it here.
This was our second time here and I left a long review June 2021 so I'll keep this one short and sweet. As expected, it keeps getting better (see pics Entrance sign/Gnome trail etc.) With so much rain this year the road in and the trails need a little work but I am sure that will be worked on also. I am already dreaming of my next visit (hopefully sooner than later)

This was our first hipcamp booking and a great first experience. So different from our usual anonymous state park stops. Great amenities for our small van and a one night stopover. Super hospitality from host Michael. Hope to come again and stay longer.

This has been once in a life time camping trip, trust me we have been to so many places and none actually even come close with respect to the hospitality, beauty and undisturbed nature. We planned to say for a week and ended up staying 3 weeks, that should explain it. It’s a hidden gem in Ripley - secluded but close to everything you might need. A huge 50 acre property with so many trails and a newly dug pond for unlimited water fun. It has full access to the kitchen and restrooms in a wonderfully and thoughtfully built cabin. We camped in our small A frame camper with electric hook up, and no problems at all. Well that’s about the beautiful space, but now about the host who has an even more beautiful heart. Micheal is very kind, amazingly welcoming and keeps on top of everything and even goes out of his way to make you feel comfortable and entertained. We did so many fun things like jumping in the pond, kayak and explore the trails with him telling us about the history of this little town and his passion to share this beauty with people. He even showed us around the neighboring towns and explored libraries, markets and what not. Finally I have 2 dogs who have felt more welcome than any place, such unlimited fun and Micheal even engaged with them and played with them. The other campers were so much fun to meet and chat around the bonfire Michael had every evening. We can’t recommend this place enough and it stands true to all the amazing reviews on here. We have gained a life long friend in Micheal and would forever cherish these memories and hope to come back soon! Thank you for everything Micheal! We love you!

I went to camping to alot of places all across United states and Jeff and Michael were the most friendly hosts i have ever met. I got there preety late and they helped me set up my camp. They also have fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator so that you dont have to wake up and leave with an empty stomach. It felt like living home for me and my wife. Will be there again.

The Rustic Woods Hipcamp is in a lovely wooded setting in western NY state. There is a clean kitchen and bathrooms provided. The sites are nicely spaced and it was quiet at night. The camp is about a 5 minute drive into the country from highway 90. Michael was a great host and has a nice set up! I'll definitely come back to this spot when I'm camping in western NY.

We had a great stay at Michael’s Hipcamp! Our spot was wooded and secluded, with full hookups (electric, water, sewer). Michael was friendly, accommodating, provided firewood, and had great recommendations for things to check out in the area. We only stayed for two nights and would love to return!

We had a wonderful time at Michael’s property. He obviously cares about his guests and their experience.
We had been planning on camping in Erie, but weren’t able to book tent sites at the first campsites we looked at so expanded our search and found Michael’s. We figured we’d make day trips to Erie, but there were so many activities on site that we didn’t bother leaving the property.
The community kitchen made food storage, cooking, and cleaning up after meals so easy. Hot showers were also appreciated. My kids made friends with other campers and are hoping we can meet up at Michael’s again!

Michael greeted me upon arrival, and is so warm and welcoming! He checked in with me the day prior, and was responsive to my messages the day of. The property is massive, and you can pitch a tent as far into the woods as you want, or close enough to the community area so that you can walk to the bathroom/shower and kitchen area. There are games out for everyone to enjoy, including a huge chess set. My neighbors were the Family Skeleton, and they were super cool!
Barcelona Bay is close by if you want a swim, and there are a number of breweries and wineries close as well. If I'm ever up that way again, I'll definitely camp here.

Amazing spot for our family! We are 2 adults 2 kids and 2 dogs with a huge tent. We set up behind the cabin. It was an incredible week. Michael is so kind and accommodating. Jeff was helping him and really made our stay special. You can swim, fish, ride, hike, and shower:) It is also in a great location - close enough to Niagara Falls, beaches, Penn Dixie fossils, Panama Rocks, and good beer/wine.

Amazing hospitality and a family atmosphere. The owner was very friendly and gave great recommendations for activities in the area. Lots of land to spread out in. Very private but all needs are easily accessible. We loved it so much that we had to stay an extra night and definitely plan on coming back!

Just back from a really nice weekend at Rustic Woods. Owner was extremely helpful and is continually working on the grounds. He met us at check-in and helped us with electric and H2O hook-ups. There is a lot of neat stuff to look at and a lot of nice cut trails to wander through. The community cabin has great kitchen and bathroom facilities if needed (and a really hot shower). We will definitely come back...a lot. It's a great alternative to the crowded State parks.

I had a great 3 night stay! Mike (the owner) was extremely generous and let me take the a-frame he had just about finished, complete with a porch and view of the pond. The grounds are new, clean, and have many trails through the acres of woods. There's pleanty of firewood to spare and a small pond to kayak/boat around in. The main cabin with the showers/bathroom also has a full kitchen for use. Between lawn games (giant chess, connect 4, horseshoes, corn hole, small mini golf strip etc...) and the shared campground equipment it was a lot of fun. I will be sure to camp here again in the future! When Mike gets the other a-frames/cabins built on the property I can see this becoming a very popular campground. Bonus is that its a short drive from the local wineries 🍷and lake erie. Whether you're a solo traveler or a group/family it's a great spot!
