Back Farm Area #2 Rustic Camping
This campsite was the perfect getaway — private, peaceful, and beautifully scenic. Appreciated how secluded it felt, surrounded by trees and nature sounds with no distractions. The views were stunning, and it was easy to relax and unwind. Highly recommend for anyone seeking solitude and a truly restorative outdoor escape.

We had such a special weekend camping on Robert's land. Pictures don't do it justice. It is jaw dropping beautiful and very private. Robert is the best hip camp host we've ever had and we've used hip camp for years. He is reasonable, flexible, and very considerate. The outhouse is extremely clean, and he provides firewood for purchase, a fire pit, wash stand for dishes, and a wood countertop perfect for your camp grill to sit on. The location is primo with lots of cute little towns around and hiking trails right off his property. We are definitely making an annual trip here.

The valley was such an amazing place to camp at. The amenities were clean. There was plenty of distance between the sites to feel private. We will definitely come back to camp! PSA vehicle with decent ground clearance is highly recommended and there is no cell service once you drive past Phoenicia.

Back Farm Area #1 Rustic Camping
Beautiful and well taken care of property with the mountains in the background - remote enough where you can feel disconnected, but still have amenities like running water, outhouse, etc.
Spent 3 nights and felt like we didn't need to leave the property - there were trails and a creek/stream nearby that we dipped our toes in. Owners are super kind too! Plan to come back again :)

Back Farm Area #2 Rustic Camping
Tent site #2 at Balsam Gleann Meadows was a great campsite for my group. Located in the center of a huge field surrounded by mountains - what a peaceful spot! The weather was perfect, cool/dewey at night and sunny during the day. I imagine if it was super hot or windy, campsite #2 would be a bit too exposed. We had our own fire pit, the pit toilets were close by and had a hand wash stations, and the showers were clean and private. The drinking water was a bit far from the campsites, but you pass by when you drive in/out. I'd recommend bringing a jug to refill water. The host, Robert, came by to check on us a couple times to see if we needed anything. He also suggested some things to do in the area and we loved visiting Otter Falls at his recommendation. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay and would definitely camp here again.

What a magical place. Beautiful meadow, gorgeous sunrises. We enjoyed hearing the owls overnight. It’s rustic camping - the pit latrines were well maintained as far as these things go! The shower area didn’t appear to be very private - so we didn’t use those. Rob (and KC) were friendly and helpful hosts. Super peaceful, special place. We’d happily come back!

Balsam Meadows is a special.
I recently organized a large gathering here for our first time, and the feedback was unanimous: it's a beautiful and special place. The combination of a breathtaking meadow against the Catskills, explorable woodlands, and creek access provided an incredible setting for our time together. The hosts are great, promptly answering questions and preparing our site perfectly.
A couple heads-up for future visitors: pack drinking water (refills are at entrance ~.5 miles from sites) and know that the drive in can be muddy, though a Prius & sedans managed fine even after a downpour. Wood can be purchased on site, and the available grill grates, shovel & axe were crucial tools we put to use. There is a back slop sink that you can use for dishes and jugs of water you can fill and carry from the river (for dishes but not for drinking).
We're already planning our return and hope to make Balsam Meadows a recurring visit.

A very beautiful view, I would recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a magical camping experience. Everything including our campground was easy to find and the land is very well taken care of. The host was great. Would definitely book again!

Loved the campground. The host seemed very friendly and wasn't nosy at all. I did wish there were hot showers because the weather was pretty cold. Beautiful view of the hills and the stars. Sunrise was beautiful.

Camping was a great experience! We loved feeling like we had the place all to ourselves. The property was gorgeous and it made for a very relaxing trip. I don’t know who enjoyed it more us or the dogs!

This is the most beautiful open field with wildflowers galore, surrounded by mountains for a really stunning skyline. Rob is a kind host, who helped me with an issue with my trailer, gave us some swimming holes to check out and kept the showers/hand washing stations well stocked. We had a great time, will definitely be back!

My freinds and I had an amazing time camping at BGM! We came in close to sunset and accidentally set up camp in the wrong spot. We are so appreciative of BGM's flexibility with the matter. This camping location was so unique and special, somewhere I cannot wait to retun to! Future campers be mindful of the white sign showing site 1 and site 2. We where also supper blessed with good weather if there was heavy rain it would have been hard to navigate getting to the site without 4 wheel drive so keep that in mind.

We had an incredible time with the whole mountain meadow to ourselves. The cooking setup, tent platform, fire rings, and bathrooms were all spread out perfectly. And the hosts were extremely friendly and helpful!!!

What a gift to be able to spend time on this gorgeous land. Private and expansive, with spectacular views and abundant wildlife, both humans and dogs were happy. James (host) was readily available and helpful for any of our requests. Amenities were simple, but immaculate (we’ve never been in such a pleasant pit toilet!). Lack of cell service made our stay a true escape. Strongly recommend 4WD vehicle for road access and bug spray/head net for no-see-ums. Highly recommend - we’ll be back!

The best camp site I’ve ever stayed at hands down. The land was perfect and had every amenity you could need and then some. We saw deer pass yards away from our campsite and the sound of the creek nearby made great ambiance. James and his brother Rob were phenomenal hosts. Awesome venue ! Secluded with multiple opurtunities to view wildlife in the wild ! We identified 40 diferent species of birds. Saw wild brook trout in a spring fed stream. Coyotes on the prowl. Buck deer grazing in the meadow. Turkeys in full display in the forest and the meadow. Moon and stars lit up our night time sky with mountains in the back drop. . Cant wait to return !

Absolutely a great place to stay. Wide open views of the sky for Star gazing. Great fire pits with log benches and fire grates for cooking. The site is surrounded with mountains all around. Great trails for hiking to the top! The host is very accommodating … answering any questions you might have. Right down the trail if needed! Definitely a Hipcamp special

We stayed two nights here and we loved it! It’s a huge open field with spectacular view of a mountains. It was secluded and peaceful. The camp site has 3 fire pits and lots of flat land to setup a tent.
James was friendly and very accommodating.
We recommend it and hope to come back in the future.
