Only stayed one night. Very accommodating and understanding land owner. Planned to have a late check in time, so owner had left a light out to guide us. Instructions very clear on how to get there. The land is right next to her house however it doesn’t feel intrusive. Greeted us in the morning and showed some trails we could go explore nearby. Weather was a little windy in the morning which she said was unusual but made packing up a little difficult. However the land was leveled and a perfect fit for my truck and rooftop tent. Would recommend this area to other campers.

Susan’s property and campsite are beautiful and very clean. I felt safe and well-informed during my entire stay. The location is a perfect distance for feeling “out of the city” but still able to visit ABQ easily. If you are camping in a tent, be prepared for heavy winds, especially during the evening. This location is an awesome way to experience the desert.

I really liked this site. It is close to the house but still private on 3 sides facing beautiful scenery. It was quiet and peaceful. You can hike around quite a bit. The last part of the paved then dirt roads are slightly rough, steep, and narrow, but I’ve gotten used to that in NM.

Peaceful area secluded in the hills. Clean space, electrical and water hookup worked great. Beautiful area to explore around the site, the hillside right next to the hookup was a great spot to catch the sunset. Susan was very helpful in providing directions for arrival and was very welcoming, encouraging me to explore the area and giving a few recommendations.

Susan was great host- ready with good insights on the area but also respectful of one's privacy. The site had accessible water and 110 service, great added value! Very private setting- a worthwhile layover on your way through NM!

The perfect rest stop on our way through New Mexico. We pulled right into the site with our airstream no problem. Susan was there to greet us. We settled in and enjoyed watching the wild horses nearby. Lots of lovely birds all around too. Very quiet and peaceful.

This natural scenic space is wonderfully quiet and great for night sky viewing. We loved our private stay here away from the noise and presence of other campers. Having the place to ourselves made it a special treat. It's a unique setting and Susan is a delightful host. Highly recommended.

We arrived later than planned and Susan was kind enough to set a light out for us to be able to see. The land is so peaceful with beautiful views. We roamed around the area and came across a wild horse. We didn’t bother him and he didn’t bother us. There are also some amazing hiking spots within the area. Would definitely consider staying again.

I loved driving out into Placitas, very beautiful. The owner communicated well about details. The land was amazing. Very cool that there was water and electrical outlets. It was peaceful and the sunset/sunrise were beautiful. The only thing was that I didn't realize it was so close to the house and I didn't find the hiking exciting.

Peace and quiet in the high desert

Lovely perch in the high desert with water and household current for comfort. Susan has one large site overlooking the foothills of the mountains with no shade but sunny cool mornings and peaceful nights.
There was almost always a breeze and sometimes a stiff wind.
One night, we watched a full moon climb over the mountains and flood the area with a gold light.
We stayed 4 nights in a small RV and were very comfortable.
Road access is easy,
30 minutes to ABQ and internet access an 8-minute drive to the local library. No dump so plan accordingly.
Susan is charming and a great host.

EXCELLENT Hipcamp! Located on an open property in the outskirts of alberqueue in a charming little village. Stars are very clear and hosts were very polite and nice.
Stayed with a couple cars and ground tents. Very even for setting up your tent

Great location. Windy area if you’re in a tent brining your stakes and tie downs. Wild horses roaming the area. We heard coyotes howling and whining all night. Susan was very nice and greeted us when we arrived. Not much privacy from the main household.

This is truly a choice site. Between Albuquerque and Santa Fe, you have beautiful vistas to look out over and all the privacy and hook ups you need (except sewer … no big deal). Susan is an incredibly gracious host, and we appreciated the detailed directions to guide us to this historic site. Be sure to learn more about it while you’re there … it’s a gem that few people get to see. We only wish we’d had another day to explore. And, while Susan was so kind to allow our dog to be off leash, he wore out his welcome when he approached her home and dog inside. It’s a challenging surrounding terrain as well, so keep your doggos (and everyone else!) safely on leash.

Placitas is a beautiful place and the campsite was private and had everything we needed.
It wasn't hard to find and Susan was very responsive in making sure I had everything I needed.
She even helped me with directions and timing recommendations when my cell didn't have service (at&t) and I didn't know how to get out of the neighborhood.
At night I was visited by a friendly horse or donkey. I think it was attracted by my light and was looking for treats but it was respectful when I told it to stay away from my tent!

What a beautiful spot to camp. Close to town, yet off the beaten path. Perfect place to stop for a weekend passing through. Communication was excellent and the spot was exactly as described.

I booked this site because I wanted to make sure my trailer was safe during the day as I did some work in Albuquerque. It was perfect for that vs. a busy city RV park. Super quiet and pretty too! I enjoyed being out of the city and crowd each evening. Susan was easy to communicate with too. Thanks for hosting me!

We stayed here for a couple nights on our road trip from Dallas and enjoyed the space. Wasn’t too hard to find but Susan was very helpful in getting us there. Perfect spot for stargazing! Water and electric available. Cell service and WiFi are very spotty/limited but this wasn’t a huge deal for us. If we are in the area again, we would definitely consider staying here again!

A beautiful site in a quiet neighborhood about 40 minutes outside Albuquerque. Site overlooks open space. Definitely recommend getting here before dark . It had been raining off and on during the day so I'm not sure about the outside amenities.
Susan want able to meet us due to a surgery recovery so I appreciated that the site was available
