The Hamlet Lake homestead is our 10-acre family home with two unique and private hip-camp sites. The Hamlet Lake Bunkhouse is located to the west of our home in its own secluded parcel next to the lake. The Camp on Hamlet Hill is to the north of our home, on a remote flat hill at the top of our property, on a hill over Cedar brook. with 300-acre, (private) Hamlet Lake in front, and the wide portion of the 20-mile Cedar brook in the back. We are a large "homesteading" family, with chickens, ducks, and a garden. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. (Tents are available for a small additional cost). There is an outdoor water pump below the hill. Guests can access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, canoe, kayak, and paddle boards included. At nearly 100 feet deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, with the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south.

Park at the bottom of our hill near our home, and take a 100-yard winding walk through the woods, (Note: due to the heavy amount of rain ask that you park at the bottom of the hill and use our wagons to bring your equipment up the hill. Considerations will be made for driving depending upon the vehicle and how recently rain has fallen). At our family-friendly site, enjoy the secluded natural beauty of our hilltop clearing, sit around the campfire, explore Cedar Brook to the north of the site, or come down the hill to the south and swim, canoe, or fish in the beautiful Hamlet Lake. The campsite is a private 1/2 acre clearing, surrounded by woods with a firepit, grill, picnic tables, cooking utensils, and an outhouse. New this year is a repurposed camper which can be used by guests in addition to or in lieu of a tent. It sleeps 2-4 adults plus storage and a couple of kids. There is an outdoor water pump at the base of the hill. Guests can access the waterfront and beach in front, with the use of the swim raft, lily pad, fishing dock, kayak, and canoe included. At nearly 100 ft deep, Hamlet lake also boasts excellent fishing. Our home is located 6 miles from Crosby, home of the world-class Cuyuna Lakes 50-mile mountain bike trail system. Crosby is a growing tourist town with many new and unique restaurants, outdoor adventures, and shopping opportunities. The paved bike trail begins 3.5 north of us. Milacs lake is 10 miles to the south. Note: church pastors get a 50% discount! (Note: Camper-vans, pop-ups and small travel trailers can work but due to the steepness and narrowness of the hill, nothing bigger is recommended. Feel free to message us with questions)

"The Bunkhouse on Hamlet Lake" is a charming, family-friendly, insulated 4-bed, 8x16ft bunkhouse on our 10-acre lakefront property. The bunkhouse is on the same parcel as our family home but is secluded on a unique piece of land, across our driveway and the street from the lake. Guests enjoy easy access to Hamlet Lake, which is private, 300-acres, and 100 ft deep. We are located in the Cuyuna Lakes Area, which boasts world-class Mountain bike/paved trails, shopping, restaurants, lakes, and other outdoor adventures, all within 7 miles of our site. Mille Lacs Lake is also only 10 miles to the south and the larger cities of Brainerd/Baxter are 25 minutes due west (with a Costco!) Our bunkhouse is located right off the road for easy access and parking. Guests will have a fire pit and chairs, a spacious deck with a 36" Blackstone grill, a patio table/chairs, cooking utensils, a clean outhouse, water from an outdoor pump (seasonal), and a TV/DVD player. Each bed has a twin mattress enclosed in a zippered case. (Guests bring their own bedding). We also have free wifi access, an inside electric heater, and a large deck space heater (available for propane rental charge). Hot showers are available 10 minutes away at the Hallett Community Center (near the mountain bike trails) for a small fee. Guests are welcome to use our lakefront area, which has paddleboards, canoes, and swim rafts'. Whether staying for a quick night up north or a longer vacation, The Bunkhouse on Hamlet Lake is an excellent option for you.

We had the loveliest time here. Beautiful, quiet spot looking out over the lake. Bunks are simple but comfy. Hosts are incredibly kind and welcoming. We really enjoyed the goats :) Big thanks to Eric and family for sharing your space with us!

We enjoyed the campsite, which was spacious, and it was great to have the camper on-site as well, which we used for storing our coolers, etc. but you could easily sleep in there, too. Eric was friendly and also responsive when I had questions before arrival. My daughters and I enjoyed a few hours out on the lake, which was lovely on a hot day. The family and friends were also enjoying their lakefront, which was totally fine with us but it's definitely not a private beach, though the camping site felt private. If I were to go back, I would likely bring paddleboards and items for floating. The ones on site were not in the best shape, though we did make it work and had a great time on the water. We found the hosts accommodating and the setting to be nice for a short getaway from the city. The baked goods for sale by the hosts were a plus, too!

Great hosts! Such a great glamping experience! The lake was def an awesome bonus! They let us use their canoe, paddleboards and kayaks. We also got to enjoy the slide and the plank in the lake. The water was amazing! They have two fans in the bunkhouse. That was very nice. We brought our two dogs and it went well. The Blackstone was very convenient. We lit a campfire and enjoyed the night. No mosquitoes during the day but they def come out as the sun set. Lol. Had such a good time. I'd def book again!

The owners where polite and extremely nice we where allowed to gather wood from the surrounding area they let us use there water equipment and they also had mushrooms that are edible in the woods just make sure you know what type of mushrooms are and aren't overall me and my family loved being there it was peaceful and rejuvenating will definitely be going back

Overall we really enjoyed our time here and the campsite itself is nice and private. The lake is across the road and I felt the pictures didn’t reflect this really. Guests should also be aware that the potable water should probably not be used for drinking- it’s a bit yellow in color. Great to have for washing up and all of that, but my advice is to bring drinking water with you. I stated in the ad, the lake is a shared space. However, I was not expecting so many children. We felt awkward being there if all the kids were playing, and they felt awkward coming over to the dock if we were there. It’s a great area and I still recommend this place but personally I would go in the fall or only if planning to do fishing and bring your own boat (they do provide kayaks and a canoe). It was just the swimming part that seemed like an intrusion on their space. Also I would avoid conversations about religion and politics- that made us feel uncomfortable when the host brought that up.

The Bunkhouse on Hamlet Lake
We decided to do a last minute trip and found this cute cabin 4 hours away. Pros: The cabin fit our family of four perfectly. The private lake offered kayaking, canoeing, and swimming. We brought our one year-old golden retriever (Higgins) who absolutely loved the lake. Saturday we bought amazing sourdough bread that they offer in their cute little road side stand. Family was very friendly and welcoming. Cons: The cabin is set pretty close to the house and workshop. There wasn’t much quiet time between kids/workshop/dogs. They were working on a projects close to the cabin until 9:30pm. The cabin door is very hard to open and close. You really had to put your shoulder into it. I don’t think a child would be able to open and close the door on their own The cabin sits very close to a marsh area, so make sure you bring bug spray. The outhouse had a very strong ammonia smell. (We are use to outhouses, but the smell was very strong).

The Camp on Hamlet Hill
We had fun camping on Eric’s land! The lake was beautiful and it’s just a short walk to his dock and water toys. We had fun attempting to paddle board, and kayaking is on our list for next time for sure. I think sometimes you can drive up to the site but because of the recent rain we were not going to attempt it. It was a steep hill leading to a private campsite. A wagon was available to help us carry things up, we managed fine but be prepared to hike a little. Once everything was set up we were able to relax and enjoy how peaceful it is up north. It was a large, shady, mostly flat area. Could definitely fit 2-3 tents if needed. I was able to find two trees close enough and out of the woods to hang my hammock. Having a portable toilet available is a bonus, but very stinky if the wind blows just right. Not sure if it’s possible to move a little further away from the campsite. We were close to town so when it rained we were able to keep ourselves busy, pick up ice whenever needed, and visit other lakes in the area for fishing and swimming. Overall a great birthday weekend for me, will try to make it back!

The Camp on Hamlet Hill
When we arrived at Hamlet Lake Homestead, we found a very narrow, steep access road to the campsite. It had been raining and I was unable to pull our teardrop trailer up the road with 4 wheel drive. The host was very helpful and allowed us to stay in their other site for the night but we were never able to access the campsite site. I would recommend serious consideration if you are planning to use a small trailer to camp here.

The Camp on Hamlet Hill
We had a wonderful time over the Memorial Day weekend at Eric’s property! Everything was as advertised. Eric and his family were amazing hosts and helped make our weekend special in multiple ways from greeting us as we arrived and providing us with activities while we were there. He went out of his way to ensure we had everything we needed. Our five kids loved the beach and lake activities, especially the kayaks and paddle boards, and playing with the animals. We also went biking on the nearby Cuyuna mountain bike trails and Crosby town trails, which were fantastic. We would love to come back again in the future.

The Bunkhouse on Hamlet Lake
The bunkhouse was an amazing place to get away to this fall! Eric was a phenomenal host. The bunkhouse stayed nice and warm even without the space heater running during 40 degrees nights and provided comfortable places to sleep. The four of us agreed the outhouse was the cleanest outhouse any of us had been in. The Blackstone was perfect for glamping and worked well for all of our meals. Hamlet lake was beautiful and we had a wonderful sunrise right over the lake. We also brought our boat (18ft) for some fishing at Mille Lacs and we were able to fit our boat trailer in the site with our truck. The site was somewhat private with trees separating the hip camp from the main house, although the neighbor's house is right across the way. So not totally secluded but we never had any issues nor did we feel encroached upon in the space. Would definitely visit again!

It was such a nice weekend away for our anniversary nice and private host was very friendly and helpful think about coming back one more time before the end of the year only thing I might change is updating the chairs they were a little weathered and maybe a better cleaning of the portapotty the lights didn't work but I just used my hunting bucket instead other then that we loved it there thinking about bringing our grandson up here

My group and I loved the campsite! Eric was very accommodating and friendly. The site itself was large, private, and clean. There's even a beautiful lake right by the site! We really enjoyed our time here and would definitely highly recommend :)

Eric and his family/kids are very sweet and helpful. Their animals are awsome and we even went home with a kitten. The camping area is secluded and was great for our dog to run around. Was hard to get our small front wheel drive car up the hill to the camp especially raining. It was impossible but was no big deal. Loved the beautiful lake and how we could use their row boat, lily pad , life jackets, canoe, kiak etc. Was a huge plus for us. Loved cooking in nature and having an open fire at camp. Was very buggy at the camp site, we aren't experienced campers to say the least but even with bug spray we were pretty bitten up which for us was difficult and we got a hotel. One down side was there was not much alone time at the lake with their family and kids down there. The first day and night there was a bunch of kids down there and teens in the evening . And them throwing around a dead chipmunk (we have a 7 yr old kiddo) we came to get away from the city and just wish we could have had some quiet time. Overall was great would stay again

Me and my family had such an amazing stay here! It was a little buggy but bug spray helped! We all had so much fun on the lake paddle boarding and canoeing and fishing! We would totally stay again!

We ended up shortening our trip, but only due to a tent that handled the rain poorly. Eric even brought up some tents that were more water tight when we found ourselves trying to sleep in what looked like a swimming pool. Accommodations were exactly as expected I just wished we could have stayed longer to enjoy them.

We had a great one night stay at the camp. The camp is tucked away from their home, and is super private. About a 2 minute walk to the beach, which is a lovely area to relax. We spent the day swimming, using the paddle boards and playing with our dog, who was a huge fan of the lake. The camp site had a good amount of mosquitos, but the bug spray warded them off well. We had a great time, the hosts were so friendly, and we even got some cuddles with some kittens!

Great location! Close to mountain biking and lakes! Access to lake was also an awesome bonus. Eric was super friendly and helpful and the entire process was easy and efficient. A little buggy so bring your bug spray! But totally would stay again!

Very nice site. Super location to town and bike trails. Loved hearing their kids playing outside and the rooster. His clocks off a little so he didn’t wake us up!!🤣

The Camp on Hamlet Hill
Large camping area with plenty of room for tents, chairs, and a car if you can make it up the hill. It’s a quiet private spot down a short trail in beautiful woods. The hosts were very hospitable. Great location near Deerwood with lake access and a short drive to the bike park. The hosts have a lot of kids and animals around the property, but the site is far enough away where you won’t notice other than driving in and out.
