Paul has a really comfortable place, beautiful location on a quiet shallow small lake. There is a canoe, and many other entertainment opportunities are there onsite or nearby. it is a quiet spot, enough room for small family and pet to shar with Paul and his dog Piper as i did. i wish I had a few more days to enjoy, but i'll be back!

Paul’s Lakeside Cottage is such a lovely peaceful relaxing retreat. The views of the lake are stunning!! Paul and Piper were so kind and welcoming. We hiked his property, explored the nearby forest and small towns nearby, and of course a nightly campfire-we heard loons and owls. We usually tent camp so this was a treat-Paul has everything you need! I highly recommend!!!!!!

Amazing place to stay! Paul goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable. We forgot propane for our blackstone last stay, and without hesitation, he gave us two 1lb tanks. We’ve stayed with Paul twice and will be back soon!

I brought my 3 dogs up to Paul's for a much needed getaway and I honestly can't wait to go back (sans dogs at least once). Piper was there to greet me as soon as I opened my car door and she is such a sweetheart!
The views are goegeous, the hiking is a ton of fun with cool stuff to find, that stars are beautiful, the wildlife is fun to admire. I was able to listen to a loon, saw and heard my first raven in person, and watched a great blue heron that likes to feed out on the lake every day. There's definitely a reason all his reviews are absolutely glowing.

I can’t say enough good things or hardly pick my favorite. Enjoyed spending time on the lake, letting the dogs jump off the dock, and renting the EBikes for a day.
Paul is very kind, responsive, and eager to help guests as needed.
Great place, we will be back!

A great hipcamp spot & Paul is a wonderful host! If you are looking for quiet and solitude, this is the place. No traffic noise or other campers to what can otherwise spoil a desirable camping experience. Paul even showed me around his land and the neighboring area and gave me recommendations for local live music. I highly recommend a visit to Paul's place!

Paul’s Lakeside Cottage
My husband and I spent about a week at Paul's for our honeymoon and it was perfect. Paul is a great host and his dog Piper is just one of the sweetest. While we did explore a little of the near by towns and areas we mostly just stayed at the cabin and enjoyed the quiet. It was so incredibly peaceful and exactly what we were looking for. Thank you Paul and Piper, hope to see you again every year for our anniversary!

Beautiful spot, super friendly host. Was easy to find, the AC was a surprise bonus. Well stocked cabin and kitchen, everything you could need. Paul was friendly and helpful, would highly recommend and hopefully return one day!
Only note is we had planned on swimming, but the lily pads and weeds are thick this time of year, so plan for that if needed.

The woods were serene and the paddling on the lake was so quiet and tranquil. The cabin was rustic but had everything we needed. It was a wonderful relaxing getaway.
Paul and Piper were very friendly, and we enjoyed chatting.

Very nice spot off the beaten path. It was only one night so didn't get to get the full enjoyment of the place, but it was very well maintained and the host was very genuine.

Paul’s cabin is nice and simple. Beautiful land and lake access. We saw loons, herons and heard lots of other birds each evening and morning. The cabin had the essentials we needed and Paul was very hospitable.

Loved our time at Paul and Piper's. Their hospitality is fantastic. Plenty of room for our dog to stretch her legs. Cabin is also close to the NCT for hiking which was our focus. Wish we would've had more time - would have loved to take a sunset cruise around the lake with Paul and Piper. We hope to be back!

Great lakeside cabin for a weekend of relaxation. Very few lily pads in the water in early May which made a great swimming spot for our dog. Beautiful, serene spot.

The cabin on the lake was so perfect and peaceful. The beavers on the lake were active floating around and we even saw an eagle! The cabin is rustic and clean.

Paul’s Lakeside Cottage
The cabin was perfect for a wintery getaway! Paul was a gracious host who went the extra mile (literally) to meet us at the road’s entrance with a snowplow-equipped jeep to make sure we didn’t get stuck in the snow.
The space was surprisingly spacious with lots of spots to hang out indoors. We enjoyed the wood stove, games and puzzles, and the bed was very comfy. We look forward to coming back when it’s warm enough weather to swim and take the canoe out on the water.

Paul's place is a true gem - and Paul + Piper are gems of hosts! We enjoyed a cozy and very cold winter weekend warm and comfy by the wood stove, walking out on the frozen lake, enjoying good conversations with Paul, and even getting some sweet tips on the happenings in town. Already so excited to come back!

My dogs and I had a lovely time at Paul's and Piper's. Paul was a gracious and responsive host. The cottage was cozy and comfortable, just what I needed for a little retreat. It was nice to have the cabin vibe alongside wifi and a hot shower, too, which was good since I was in the area for a conference. The lake and woods are so beautiful. I can't wait to go back!

We loved Paul's place so much, we had to come back! This was our second time staying at Paul's cottage. Highlights include the cozy fire place, cooking meals, and playing lots of games. We went to Paul Bunyan state forest for a short hike, and enjoyed watching the moody lake from the comfort of the cozy cabin. Piper made sure to visit for lots of pets and ear skritches too!

We love Paul, Piper, and their cabin!! Stayed with my 7year old son on a week long roadtrip. Cabin exceeded my expectations, the view is amazing, and Paul is beyond kind. Plenty of fire wood available, canoe at your disposal, and some awesome sunrises. We will be back ☺️

My partner and I both loved our stay here! Paul and piper are so friendly and welcoming and happy to accommodate. The cabin was very clean and cozy for a perfect weekend getaway. Would definitely recommend!

Great cabin, great location! Paul was super nice and had great communication. Cabin was on a cute lake. Paul had e bikes for rent along with a canoe to use. Very easy to get to! Can had a memory foam bed along with two futon. I was able to bring my dogs which was a huge plus! Paul's cabin provided cookware, tove, full sink, full bathroom with shower,fridge and freezer, tv, and heat/ac. Nice firepit outside. We loved it and would definitely reccomend!

The cabin was in great condition and the property is beautiful. We loved standing down by the lake at night and having an amazing view of the stars. Paul is a fantastic host and has gone above and beyond with added touches to make the stay better. Would definitely stay here again!

Beautiful piece of property, with beautiful sunrises. Cabin had everything you could need. We had a great weekend there. Paul is one heck of a nice guy, and goes above and beyond as a host. And Piper is one of the sweetest dogs I've ever met. We'll be back to visit both again.

Paul has an awesome cabin and is an amazing host. The cabin has a comfortable full size memory foam mattress, a full kitchen and bath, and multiple sitting areas (including two futons and a comfy recliner). There are also two camp chairs on a covered deck. Paul offers a ton of great amenities to use during your stay (in case you forget to pack stuff) including citronella candles, bug spray, extra toothbrushes, and a couple of chargers, books, board games, cribbage board, and a smart TV. The wifi also works great! You get linens, towels, and he leaves some bottled drinking water since the well water has a high iron and mineral content. It seems that he has thought of just about everything to help make your stay better. There is also a canoe, life jackets and paddles available to use.
The property is secluded. Paul is building a house nearby and that's the only person you see (plus an occasional visit from his loving pup Piper...which we looked forward to each morning). Paul is a kind person who loves meeting people. We truly enjoyed getting to know him and he has great suggestions about local music and nightlife in the area. The cabin has real locks on the doors and basically functions as a small house (Paul used to live there before he built his new home)
I felt safe on property (and around Paul) and would feel comfortable recommending this location to single female travelers. I was traveling with my husband but would have no worries about returning on my own.

Paul's place was an amazing piece of paradise. We feel so lucky to have found this gem. We loved it so much, we extended our stay! That should say enough...but we have to say more!!! Paul so generously let us use the canoe and took us out on his boat. The cabin is so cozy, perfect for two, but quite comfortable. We enjoyed cooking and reading in the beautiful sitting room, and spending the morning on the dock. We'd love to return! Thanks, Piper and Paul!

My husband, dog & I all had an amazing experience staying 2 nights at Paul's Cabin! I'm pregnant and it was so nice staying in a retro style cabin that had everything you need to feel comfortable (including AC!) while still being in a gorgeous, deep woods nature setting with loons and other wildlife. The property is well maintained and loved having the seclusion. The cabin is on part of a lake that rarely has other people on it and there is access to the main lakes through a channel. We used the canoe on site for a relaxing day on the water. Paul was nice enough to take us out on a pontoon ride with the dogs to do some fishing. Plenty of firewood for fires with seating and a nice covered deck area. We also visited Itasca State Park which was about 30 min away and was 100% worth checking out. Walmart close by. Live music in the area if you're looking for things to do. Paul was super accomodating and had a great time chatting with him on the pontoon ride! He respects privacy fully but was also willing to reach out if we needed anything. Extra sleeping spots on futon or couch/room for air mattress if needed (still book for 2 people). This is one of my favorite Hipcamp stays & we will definitely be back.
A few inclusions: ice, drinking water, dog dish/tie out, canoe, wood, dishes, pots/pans/silverware, wifi, books (children's too!), folding chairs, life jackets, linens, tv/DVD player, ac, coffee maker, salt/pepper, paper towels/tp, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, and more!
