Quiet, private spot

Enjoyed our stay here. Owner met us on site. Very private. Short drive on very smooth but dusty gravel road to get to site - maybe a mile max. But very quiet and private. Site borders a lake but is not waterfront. Wooded with shade. Site itself is a bit cluttered but fine. A travel trailer is on site but we had our own. Ours is 24’, 28’ total length and I would say that is the max length for getting in and out. Firewood provided was very nice. A good place to spend a couple nights and convenient to Nevus for laundry, IRon Horse restaurant, liquor store. The grocery in Nevis burned down so the closest is Park Rapids although there is a convenience store at the gas station. Good communication.

Super private, amazing outdoor space with plenty of room to spend a few days. This is by far our favorite place to camp in Minnesota. Close by Nevis and Walker if you wanted to go out to eat or spend an afternoon in town.

Natural rustic glamping!

Natural, rustic site with the pleasure of electricity. Fire ring with all the wood provided. Mike is a very friendly host who gives quick responses to questions, flexible, and gave us the lay of the land. We enjoyed all the nature around us!!

We loved staying on Mike's land! He met us there and made sure we had everything we needed. It was very quiet and private and our dogs loved it. It was also great that he had firewood on site. We will definitely be back!

Great time with our pooch!

Mike was such a wonderful host. He was there to greet us and gave us all kinds of info. He was wonderful leading up to the trip as well anytime I had questions he responded quickly and thoughtfully. we rented both sites and glad we did. The camper was well equipped, we had coolers but the fridge made things much easier. The outhouse was nice as well. Our dog had a blast with all of the room to roam

Mike's land is very quiet (you will rarely hear cars), except for birds and frogs. He has a really nice set up. I really enjoyed being there. The camper was clean and comfortable. Everything is set up for you, but it definitely feels like being in nature. Mike was extremely pleasant and accommodating. He gave me space, but was available if needed. I will definitely return with my two teens.

Quiet and wooded get away

Great spot! Quiet, wooded, lovely fire pit and outhouse. We had our RV and there was a nice flat spot and electric hook up which was a pleasant surprise. The dogs had an amazing time roaming around. Mike was super friendly and welcoming and we’d come back again!

What a great spot! Mike was waiting for us to guide us into the spot upon arrival. Very friendly! Perfect place to disconnect from the world. It really is off the grid. 4 wheeler trails nearby! Great fishing too!

Plenty of room to setup our Tab 400 and 12' screen room. Great location, very private, outhouse was super clean, and 30 amp service! Plenty of firewood, full size weber grill, and enough space to have our boy drive up and pitch a tent to hang out with Mom and Dad on his Birthday. Lake is about a 2 minute scoot from the campsite, and had a wonderful dock. Our host was responsive to all our questions. This was a great little retreat in the woods. We didn't have any issues except the humidity, and bugs which is to be expected for the season.
I have an 18' trailer with a full size Ram pickup. I could see another rig my size on the land but it would take a bit of effort to have my inlaws share the space with another rig/ trailer the same size. We rented both sites and it was perfect, but might be a bit tight for some if you didn't know the other party sharing the space.
We have 2 large German Shepherds that roamed the trails and they had a blast! Wildlife is present in the area, Owls, Bears, and birds galore. No issues with the bears this time of year but something to be aware of as this is a heavily wooded area with several game trails.
If you are looking for a secluded getaway, this is an A+ and we hope to spend more time here in the future.

We rented out both sites as they are close to each other. We had a small wedding ceremony out here! It was perfect!! Mike was extremely flexible with our check in/ check out time. Beautiful this time of year! The outhouse was by far the cutest/cleanliest outhouse I've had the pleasure of using 😁Had the BEST time!

Great camp ground

Mike was there to greet us and give us a quick orientation and directions to the lake. Then he left up to ourselves. I had a question about a boat access that i texted him and he responded promptly. Everything is kept clean and user friendly. Having electric there was very nice. We needed the AC the first evening but then got away with just a small fan after that. Getting onto the lake was a bit of a chore just like he warned us it would be but the fishing was pretty good and the best luck we had was just out infront of the dock area about in the middle of the lake. We caught our limit of sunnies and a few crappie, bass and northern. Good tasting sunnies too!!!

This spot was a peaceful retreat. There was plenty of dry firewood to use. The toilet was clean and stocked with toilet paper. We rented out both sites as they have a shared fire ring and toilet. The site was spacious and very level. I would definitely come again!

Beautiful and quiet place not too far from town. We had both spots to ourselves. The two spots are close together, so if I were to go again, I’d be sure to rent both places, otherwise it would be tight quarters with strangers.
The outhouse is clean and well equipped with TP and hand sanitizer.
Lots of complimentary wood for fires.
A charcoal grill is available with lighter fluid if needed.

Very pretty spot. I feel mislead that these two spots were so close. When I was reading it sounded and looked like these two spots had some distance/forestry to block for privacy. If we would of rented both it would of been perfect but that would be a lot of money. There is a lot of space and forest to trail through. Beach nearby is beautiful and water is nice. The great thing about this spot is the firewood and the area.

We brought out camper van and had a wonderful 2 night stay in this little getaway. Not too far from Park Rapids and Itasca State Park for finding plenty of activities during the day. Would highly recommend staying here!

The site was beautiful. Just what we needed for a weekend to get away and unplug. Next time we visit we'll probably book both spots for privacy, they are very close together. Everything was wonderful, even the outhouse was clean, and the well- stocked firewood was put to good use keeping mosquitoes at bay.

Another beautiful stay at Mikko Kamp! If you are looking for a true northern Minnesota experience, this is the place to find it! Beautiful pines and birch trees enclose the property. It’s less than 30 minutes to amazing hiking and biking trails. Walker, MN is also less than a half an hour away. Stay here at least once, you won’t be disappointed!

Gorgeous secluded little clearing in the middle of a forest. Very quiet. Was not hard to find at all. Mike met us at the entrance and got us settled. Outhouse was clean and maintained. We definitely want to come back next summer

Mikko camp is like your own personal forest wonderland! We didn’t even leave the whole time we were here. Having morning coffee amongst the trees and fresh air is just what we needed to recharge.
For the ultimate private stay, rent both places. It’s well worth it!

North woods dreamscape

We have been to Mikko camp several times and will come back again and again. Mike has made some great changes to the property with a new swing, fire pit and toilet! Rent both spaces, it’s well worth it for a private getaway in a beautiful spot!
