This spot was quiet and private and the host was very accommodating. It was close to Itaska and LaSalle Lake State Parks for day excursions, and also just a 20 minute drive to Bemidji. The driveway is long and may be a challenge for high profile or wider vehicles, especially after a rain or windstorm as tree branches tend to lean over into the lane, but the additional bonus of being able to park under a tall lean-to structure for shelter in inclement weather made it more than worth it. We hope to stay here again!

Late June- site is ideal basecamp for exploring Itasca area lakes & trails. Driving on Great River Road is beautiful. We stayed by field- rolling meadow brimming w/ wildflowers, surrounded by deer-filled birch forest. Fireflies & butterflies & stars & kite-flying. Cool breeze off field kept mosquitoes in check, wore hats & bug spray b/c of ticks & deer flies. Easily remedied w/ socks over pantlegs & repellent. Stuck ticks on tape- or thrown in empty pop bottle w/ screw-cap. Lymes confirmed in area, so cautious. Dogs have vaccine & tick meds, but are magnetics. Dogs on tieout did great & prevented big black bear from entering kiddos empty tent, which reminded us to keep food in truck w/ anything scented like sunscreen or toothpaste. Glad we brought sunshades/canopy, camping toilet & sink. No fires allowed, so had hotplate & truck cord. Every night was an awesome game night- boardgames, cards, mad libs- partly b/c zero bars cellphone service (Verizon4G only.) Which ended up being a total blessing for good-oldfashioned family bonding. There's a nice little park nearby for ok cell reception to answer emails & make a few important calls. I might invest in modest signal amplifier for camping adventures in future. Tons of trails close by for off-leash dogs & lakes for swimming. But honestly, the meadow view, central yet secluded location & the kindness of the hosts (later check-in & check-out) made this place a 5 star experience absolutely. A hidden gem.

The drive in was amazing, big beautiful trees and snow everywhere. Definitely the nicest people I have ever met. I got stuck in the snow and multiple people offered to help me. The host was polite and met with me as I pulled in.

Beautiful, large property with many areas to camp. I parked near the hay barn, which was very pleasant. Terry was extremely kind and easy to communicate with. I saw the horses and one cat, which kept their distance from me and my dog. There are no facilities but if you bring your own setup and/or use a bathroom on the way, it's no problem. The bugs weren't too bad, but are definitely prevalent so bring spray. Great place to see the sun set and rise, and felt very safe. There's a bar, grill, and market down the street if needed, otherwise it's pretty remote.

We actually ended up having to leave due to a personal emergency and did not stay the full night :( BUT the open space was beautiful and the horses were a nice sight. However, before we left someone was firing off shots in the vicinity which made it difficult to relax/feel safe. Overall, I would recommend this site to anyone who simply wants to go off the grid for a day or two, if you don’t mind the occasional sound of cars/hunting (depending on where you are on the site). Ultimately, we spent most of our day down at the recommended LaSalle Lake Area on our inflatable boat which was a lot of fun in the sun!

I'm a repeat visitor - I've stayed out on the fields, and near the structures. The corner bar is a great place for dinner and a drink too (about a half mile west) - Highly recommend, lovely place to be when the sun is going down. Will be back again in future. Love it

It was quiet and a beautiful place to stay. There was fog that came in the morning that was quickly gone by sunrise. There were horses here that were really nice to watch and mostly kept to themselves. It was a really cool place to camp it roughing. It is an ideal place to get away from civilization.

Wow, this was a particularly cool Hipcamp experience. It took me a few minutes messaging with Terry to understand that these hosts are EXTREMELY flexible and accommodating about where to camp on their property - Pretty much, if you can get there and it's not inside one of the houses or a horse pasture, you can camp there. So, it was actually kind of daunting to commit to a spot. I took a little while to decide, before finally settling behind the huge, beautiful garden near one of the main houses.
There was absolute privacy, total peace and quiet, and a wonderful sunset over the fields.
This is a bring-everything-in, bring-everything-out camping situation. Plan accordingly. There's no porta-pottie even.
I'm hoping they are hosting again next summer; I already have big plans to sleep near the hay barn next summer!

This was my first time using hipcamp and I was so pleased to find this lovely place. Felt very lucky to have spent the evening in an open meadow surrounded by woods. The hay had been mowed so we could have camped anywhere.

We had the most wonderful stay! We parked our Solis on the edge of the hayfield next to the trees. It was incredibly quiet and serene. We saw Sandhill cranes and a golden eagle in the evening and in the morning a flock of 17 wild turkeys came quite close to our van. We also saw a half dozen magpies. Such a treat to see all these birds that we seldom see in NE Minnesota.

Terry was great and very nice. Where to set up a tent was a little confusing but Terry said she plans to
put up signs for future campers. The horses were great, the sunset was amazing. Mosquitoes were bad but expected. Would definitely camp here again.

First the facts, then the details.
Facts: The driving directions were clear and easy. The space is super simple. There are two small houses near a circle drive and a horse barn/pasture off to the left. To the right of the circle there’s a well maintained lawn and a run down old barn which we did not explore. Beyond all that there is a large open field of flowers lined by groves of trees on the property line. Other fields surrounded ‘our’ field behind the trees, so it felt quite private. The host told us we could camp close to that barn where the grass was mowed or basically anywhere that wasn’t directly in the front yard or in the horses space.
Details:
This space could be vastly improved with access to a garden hose/drinking water situation. It wasn’t a huge deal, but it’s def inconvenient to have to bring in water.
We drove through the field to the middle/far side and just pitched our tent. It’s not private, like with barriers, it’s private because you’re just so far, but completely out in the open under the prairie sky.
The field was absolutely blooming with flowers and knee high grass, which is visually idyllic and lovely. It would make pretty pictures for insta if you’re into that. Practically though, we stepped out of the car into a cloud of insects in the early evening. Less biting, more buzzing, but overwhelming anyway. We frantically pitched our tent and stressed a little, but after we stopped stirring them up, it was a very moderate bug situation (for a Minnesota evening). We sat out and watched the sunset and grilled and it was nice. I say this not to warn you off, but to wait 10 minutes before you freak. It’s fine; lots of butterflies and crickets. If you can’t deal, camp on the mowed grass.
There is no bathroom of any kind. This was entirely fine for us, but it’s not for everyone.

In a jam with COVID restrictions and Terry delivered. Price is right and space is more than accommodating. The horses were beautiful to boot. Location was easy to find. Would stay again.

We loved staying out at Terry's beautiful place! Her property was s beautiful. She has the sweetest horses who loved coming up and saying hi to us. There were many areas on the property for camping; we chose the freshly mowed field by the horse pasture. We loved hiking the property and checking out the woods in back. It was a beautiful relaxing getaway that we can't recommend enough!
