Down Home on the Farm

Friction Farm owners have done an outstanding job creating a small collection of campsites with water abd electricity nestled into their family farm's barn yard and beautiful corn field. Very pastoral and totally relaxing, while providing all the basic comforts of home.

I arrived after dark so it was helpful to have messaged Andy earlier to know exactly where to park my vehicle for sleeping. In the morning, I saw the nice view of the farm land around me on the rolling hills. There is farm equipment and storage sheds, and other buildings around the various campsites. I saw RV’s spread out, and other lodging accommodations on the land. A farm store was near the entrance of the driveway.

Unhappy Campers

So, for our return trip home we booked with Frickson Family Farms (FFF), LLC via Hipcamp app. All seemed to be ok. The day that we were going to arrive we used the Hipcamp app and kept FFF updated as to when we would arrive as it would be a late arrival. When we arrived, our reserved site had another camper in it and the other family we were with also had another camper in it apparently the FFF rental camper. Ours site 3 and theirs site 1. I think it was Andrew F who did assist with at least getting up a site that had electric. No Water, which we were suppose to have. Andrew also stated that the other campers were Harvest Hosts campers and that he didn't do much business with Hipcamp. Again, not sure why this mattered. Then leave the HipCamp app. Why did that matter. We had confirmed reservations through Hipcamp. Overall it was a frustrating experience and I would not recommend FFF or Hipcamp to any of my camping friends.

We had arrived late at night @ 9:30, the host met us and guided us into our spots. Very friendly hosts. I shopped in their little store when leaving, they have a great selection of beef and pork, they had other stuff too.

Overall, good, leveled sites, but we had 2 sites reserved and they was people on one of the site. We had to move to another, so our party was not next to each other’s. It was for one night, so not to bad. A lot of noise from I90 but good sleep with ear plugs!

Sweet little spot on the cornfield with electric and water! Unfortunately we were just passing through the area and decided to book a site for a night kind of last minute. It was right off the 90, super easy to get to, and right down the road from an extremely clean truck stop! We wish we could’ve had more time to explore the trails and stock up at the farm store!

We booked late and about an hour from our arrival. Although Hipcamp let us book for an electrical site, Andy messaged us right away explaining his electric sites were already booked but let us park in the lawn. Wish I didn’t have to pay for electric considering that, but it was a nice spot to run our generator and pick up eggs from Andy’s farm store.

Convenient and quiet!

Conveniently located 2 mi off the highway. Quiet atmosphere for a night after traveling. Site spacing is spacious. Water and 30 amp electric available. Farm store with eggs and meats for sale. We were hoping for ice cream but we weren't that lucky 😂 We will stay again.

Perfect level spot on a beautiful farm. Yes it is very close to I90 and you will hear the many trucks. But you can also be on the interstate in minutes. Cleanest porta potty we ever been in. And the cutest little store.

I booked a spot and received a confirmation number, I sent a message to the host with time we would be arriving, never received a reply back. We went and stayed at the site for one night and never heard from the host at all, zero communication. Nice spot though.

Great quiet one night stopover here on our way east over the July 4th holiday. Intentionally looked for somewhere away from crowds and this did not disappoint. Especially appreciated the electric service with the overnight temps in the high 70s. Easy in and easy out. Would definitely stay again!

Highly recommend for I-90 stop over

A great stopover location not far off I-90. Even with our late arrival, we were just early enough that the host greeted us and gave us direction to our site. Peaceful location and plenty of room for big rigs. Will definitely make it a stop whenever possible when traveling through. Don't miss checking out their little store too! I am sure there are things to do in the vicinity and stay longer, but we were traveling through and just needed a nights sleep.

We loved staying at this camping site. Area was beautiful and quiet. There was some road noise from Route 90 but not too bad. We had plenty of room to keep our tow dolly and car on. Good water pressure. We walked around with our dogs and saw steer, goats, and lots of birds. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

Very nice location. Met a very nice couple from Alaska! Conveniently located off the Highway. Loved the ability to buy farm raised meats! Can't wait to eat the tomahawk steak! When you don't want the normal rv park and small atmosphere. This is your location! We didn't realize State Parks don't open until May!

Pleasant Pastures

We loved our stay at Frickson Farm, the cabin was perfect! We loved stocking up on meat and goods from the farm store. It’s near the highway but very quite and peaceful and the stars were beautiful.

We absolutely loved the setup of the tiny home! Wood stove kept us warm and cozy while the snow fell outside. Awesome patio area so we cooked all of our food over the fire pit which included a handy movable grate. Having firewood included was so nice. The 3 miles of hiking were enjoyed greatly by us and our dog!

Great stay in Eastern MN

Nice camp set up with water and electricity. Smooth entrance and exit for our 28' travel trailer. Andy responded quickly and ensured we were all set up even though we arrived after dark. Only downside is I-90 is just across the field and highway noise was a part of the stay. Thanks much Frickson's.

Camping on the farm

Great place to pull over for the night. They have water and electricity, but the bathrooms are for the tiny house only (says on the door). The only thing that was a little off…we made reservations for 2 spots, but got there and another camper was already in our spot. They were told to park anywhere even though we had reservations for 2 of the 4 spots. Otherwise the area was great, right off the interstate. And they have a cute little store if you need eggs or bacon! Would stay here again, and hopefully get the spot we reserve.

The site was clean and up kept. Pull through s ites are easyto navigate. Really not private if there are any other bookings for the sites are a few feet apart. Very close to the interstate so you can near the traffic the entire time. Loud enough to hear through the camper while sleeping.

Great unique spot. Right off the highway. Minutes from Lacrosse. After a day on the road it was awesome to have a site where our daughter could see barn cats, cattle, chickens and goats. Only items id suggest to other campers is while firepits are allowed you have to supply your own. Oversight on our part. 10/10 would stay again.

Had our first venture in our new Airstream at Frickson Family Farms and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend and especially shopping in their little store. Beef, pork, brats, amazing. Our dogs LOVED their beef marrow bones as well.

Quick overnight 7-hour stay

We booked and pulled in very late at 0100 so it was difficult to see where the campers were. We did not see any signs but we may have just missed them because we were tired. I do not know about any bathrooms, I did not see any, but we took care of that at the gas station before we pulled in and took off early and did the same on the way out. I would have loved to shop at the little store though. Next time.
