A nice camp
24 ft travel trailer
We were the only campers there, literally had the place to ourselves.
The Two track road coming in is sand. We were towing a small TT and did get stuck in the soft sand, but we're able to get ourselves out. If towing, 4 Wheel drive is a must.

Hidden Gem!

The main road in (12 Mile Road) was way more rugged than I had expected. That being said, the site was very remote and extremely peaceful. You can probably make it in (as others suggested, come in from the west off Hemlock) with 2WD, but I was glad I had 4WD for peace of mind.
Also, the site it beautiful! The electric hookup was super convenient. The shower appeared to be hooked directly to the well water line. However, there was a heater there ready to be installed. We used my solar shower which was decently warm.
There are plenty of trails on site and my dog had a blast being off leash the entire week. We did venture into Hungerford for a much longer hike. There was a super nice couple there our first night, but we had the place to ourselves the rest of the week. What a gem of a site. Would love to have a group camp there in the future.

Great spot!
21 ft campervan
I stayed one night in my camper van, a 2wd Ram ProMaster 3500. Definitely approach from the west (from Hemlock), not from the east as there's a long, sandy ascent that really requires 4wd this way; my van didn't have a prayer of making it, and it's a long way to back out but there's no choice 'cause there's no way to turn around. Come from the west and you're fine!
The site is really great. I was the only inhabitant, but there are multiple electric hookups all around the big fire ring. Pretty cool to have electric way out in the woods...that had to be a major project getting wires run. There's a very clean porta john on site too. For my night here, I had total privacy, excellent stars, and quiet - definitely will return.

Hungerford Base Camp!

AWESOME base camp for trail riding at Hungerford. The campsite was huge, flat, and private, with water and electricity. What more could you ask?? Very quiet. Perfect balance of sun and shade. Plenty of room for the horse trailer, travel trailer, and portable corral.
My dogs were in heaven exploring the property and we felt completely safe letting them do so. No place for them to get in trouble.
We really appreciate that Steven was so quick to respond when our other reservation fell through. He saved our vacation!

Beautiful spot but hard to leave
33 ft toy hauler
This is a lovely spot! Excellent for stargazing in the evening. Plenty of firewood to keep the campfires burning. It would be a great spot for a small group to camp together too. Once you are on the property, it is easy to get to the camping location and there is plenty of room to maneuver your camper.
I highly recommend having some experience maneuvering your camper before you visit this spot - in my case, experience towing a travel trailer. This was my second ever camping trip with my new, 33 foot, trailer and I had a very hard time leaving the property. I could not make the turn out of the property and onto the road going the recommend direction. I had to turn the other direction onto the road, and I do not recommend doing that! The road that way is very narrow, with trees very close on both sides. Definitely follow the host's directions and not GPS...and know how your rig handles! Whew! Went in green, came out...brown lol needed to change my pants after we made it back to the main road! But don't let me scare you. I'm a total newbie and didn't know what I was doing.

Very private for the true nature lover! Half mile two track to the gate with considerable tree cover so just a heads up for those 40' Pushers.
The campsite is well-maintained, green and grassy with beautiful scenery around the area.
Got to see my first wild turkey family up close which was cool!
My T-Mobile service was very low, I was able to text, but pics would not send.
No T-Mobile Internet service.
Everything has positives and negatives, but overall, I definitely enjoyed the experience and would return for a future visit.

30 ft Class C
This is a nice place to camp. It is very quiet with lots of pretty scenery. It is directly across from Hungerford Recreation Area that has lots of trails to go on. Having electricity and water out in the middle of the woods was a bonus. It even has a heated outdoor shower. This was easy enough for a 30ft class C to get in and out of. There was also picnic tables and a good supply of firewood with a large central fire pit. It would be a great place for a group to camp. The owner was very helpful with directions. We plan on camping there again.

Awesome spot for family camp

Steve gave us perfect directions to get to the place and answered all my questions.
The place is perfect for family gatherings! There’s electric and water and a central fire pit. There was plenty of wood we could use too!
It’s super quiet and you get a great view of the stars at night. And the trailhead into the National Forest is super close. We had a beautiful hike before we left.

Remote with wilderness
Group trip
The site was remote, but still had water and electricity hookups-even an outdoor shower with hot water which was lovely. Many two tracks throughout the property to hike. We saw lots of wildlife, including a small black bear 500 ft from the site! Steven was very helpful and met us there to show us around. Only con was that the road getting back there does have some questionable spots for cars without 4wd. I would check the condition with Steven before you go. Overall, it would be a great spot for a large group of friends to camp. We’ll be back!

Remote with lots of wildlife
Group trip
The property was very remote but still had amenities like water and electricity. Even had an outdoor shower (with hot water!) that was very pleasant. We saw tons of wildlife-even a small black bear about 500 ft from our site! Lots of two tracks to hike and see many different landscapes-meadows, pine forest, etc.
Only cons was that there was a lot of trash around the site. Steven picked up a lot of it upon our arrival and we continued to pick up pieces as we came across them. Also, the road/two track to get back there had a few spots that were questionable when pulling our trailer so just check with Steven first depending on what you’re pulling. A car without 4wd might have a difficult time. Overall, this would be a great spot for a big group of friends to enjoy camping together. We’ll book again!
