Grand Pond View
This place was absolutely beautiful. Extremely quiet, very nicely groomed smooth trails. Endless stars. No bugs at all. Spent a few days kayaking, riding my quads a bit (slowly to not hurt anything) and just enjoying nature. Host was nice and responded quickly with any of my questions. I recommend showing up in the day as it is very hard to find at night. (We went in the wrong field the first time because it was pitch black) 😂 definitely recommend this spot for a getaway.

This is really a review of the host, because I had a little car trouble and had to turn around, so I haven't been to the site...yet. But big props to the host - Jon was very understanding and went above and beyond working things out. So, I'm looking forward to spending a couple of nights there as soon as work and weather line up. Thanks Jon!

Jon's property is incredible. The sites are huge, private, and well-manicured. He also has hiking trails throughout the property that are abundant with wildlife. During our stay we saw deer, what looked like a small bobcat, fresh bear droppings, and a heron. In addition to this all, we got to watch a spectacular meteor shower one of our nights.
The price is pretty comparable to public campgrounds, but what you get is so much more spectacular in terms of nature and privacy. We actually took a day trip to Harrisville State Park and hung out at Lake Huron and were quickly reminded how much nicer it is to have solitude vs sites packed in together. We also hiked just a few minutes away in the Huron National Forest.
Bottom line, you'll love it.

Maples
We enjoyed RV camping at Rains Ranch very much.
We stayed at the Maples and it was perfect for us. Jon had firewood all ready to go in the fire pit and a spare stack nearby.
So peaceful. Beautiful mowed walking trails all around. Through forest, past creek, meadows, the beautiful pond, all very natural, beautiful and peaceful. Host Jon was very responsive, immediately available if needed, but we had total privacy at the same time.

We loved camping here! The gentleman was super nice and was very informative about his land as well as areas to hike and see near. Each site was far away from each other so you felt all alone and secluded. The wood was brought to us and stacked nicely. The pond has a beautiful view and was very pretty to look at especially in the mornings and at night. I would highly recommend using this hipcamp!

The land was so beautiful!! I loved how much privacy we had at our site. Waking up to the birds singing and cows moo-ing was amazing. We were visited by a deer one night. We stayed here as a home base to visit huron national forest.

Beautiful property! I recommend the Grand Pond View. So quiet, peaceful, plus lots of mowed trails to walk through nature. The (co-?)host John was very friendly and inviting. We only stayed one night but it was just lovely.

Sam's land is beautiful, the sites are private, and we loved the adorable farm animals. Sam was generous about waiting later than expected to greet us and guide us into the property after dark. It is 80 acres, so we definitely needed his help walking us to our campsite. We would not have been able to find it on our own, so we appreciated his help. We parked our vehicles about 5 minutes away from the site and then he walked us to the site, where he had set up a picnic table for us, which was perfect. He made sure to warn us that there could be wildlife about; we heard coyotes at night, which was very cool, but did not see any other wildlife. Many thanks to Sam's hospitality. We would stay here again.

Several choices of campsites, I may have to try them all to see which I like most. Nice huge property with ponds, big enough to hike if you want. We watched a breath taking sunset and slept soundly. After breakfast we traveled to nearby Hoist Lake Park for a hike. Sam is a great host! Will be back for sure.
