Want to feel like you’re out of the city and nestled up in the woods? Come to Mr. Joe’s Campground. All sites back in the woods are 50-100 feet away from the next. Thick woods, playground, full 18-hole disc golf course, and beautiful trees. Minutes from dozens of beautiful lakes, golf courses, Sand Dune‘s, light houses, vineyards, or maybe you would prefer to just sit around the fire, and tell stories and laugh. Duck Lake, Green Lake, Silver Lake, Long Lake, Lake Ann, Lake Dubonet are minutes away. Interlochen Golf Course right down the road. Bradleys, Dilbert's, Hofbrau, and Oakys are great restaurants within 3 miles.

Mr. Joe’s Campsite is an absolute hidden gem. From the moment I arrived, I felt this instant sense of calm—like the whole place just lets you breathe a little easier. It’s wonderfully quiet, peaceful, and perfectly tucked away from all the usual chaos, making it the ideal spot to unwind. The grounds are clean, spacious, and thoughtfully maintained, and you can tell there’s real care put into keeping everything comfortable for guests. Whether you’re sitting by the fire, sipping your morning coffee, or just listening to the sounds of nature, the atmosphere is genuinely relaxing. Mr. Joe himself is warm, welcoming, and clearly takes pride in his campsite. It makes the whole experience feel personal in the best way. If you’re looking for a calm, cozy getaway with just the right touch of charm, this is the place. I’ll definitely be back!

Nice quite and secluded rustic camping. Plenty of room in between each camp site(50 to 100 feet) with tree's and bushes in between. Porta potty was very clean with plenty of supplies. There is even a disc golf course on site. There is also a convenience store and Dollar General 3minutes away.

Quiet and peaceful. Sites were very private, and the host was great at communication. Not many amenities, but it is great for rustic style camping. Would recommend. I'd like to try the disc golf course next time

Mr. Joe was a wonderful host! His property was expansive and very well kept. We really enjoyed the amount of space between each site allowing for the perfect amount of privacy. The location is also in a prime location. Absolutely would love to stay again.

Campsites were great! Lots of room in between the sites so felt pretty private. Lots of wood available as well with a wheelbarrow to make the transport to campsites easy. Had a couple of questions and the host was super responsive. The directions on Google maps took us to the wrong spot, but the Apple Maps one worked. Was tough since it was dark when we arrived, would’ve been easy to find during the day.

We had an amazing experience at this campsite! The sites were private and quiet, which made it easy to relax. The trails were very well maintained, and the disc golf course was such a fun surprise for a random camping spot. The host greeted us warmly and was so kind. Overall, everything exceeded our expectations—we’ll definitely be back!

the place seemed fairly new but man was it amazing! camp sites are spaced far apart so you don’t have to worry about noise too much. there’s a feee disc golf course with loaner discs! there’s plenty of different types of sites to choose from depending on your needs. he also provides very nice self serve firewood but says if we don’t wanna pay we are more than welcome to use any fallen wood in the forest for free! Joe stopped in about a half hour after i got there. Very nice fella that’s put a ton of work into this property just for folks like us! over all we LOVED and will be back any time we intend on seeing a concert at Interlochen. THANKS Joe🫶🏻✌🏻 if i was to make any suggestions it would be to remove the wood chips from the sites. or at least only put them in certain locations. each site is fully covered with chips. at first i thought it was a great idea. but 2 things it can cause are lumpy uneven ground for tents and the sticks can pile through your tent and also potentially deflate your air mattress. a nice level grassy area would be preferred.

Joe's campground is so peaceful. I stayed at sight 5. It was so spacious. Definitely more than enough room for a small group to stay there. He stopped by and chatted, such a nice guy. He made sure I was all set and gave me some recommendations for places to eat. Will invest in a disc golf set for next time!

We got in late to our spot because of travel issues but his grounds were clean and easy to maneuver- also with clear directions on hipcamp. He came and checked on us the next morning and gave us the back story of his property. Thanks Jo for being so kind and welcoming. The spots are mostly wood chipped with a couple just grassed and are large spaces with so much privacy inbetween. Loved that! So much care has gone into all that. We had to pick up a new rack for our bikes and Jo helped us out with some tools last minute before we had to leave which made our peace of mind much better for the ride home. Thank you again for going out of your way to help! Thanks for sharing your space and all the amazing raspberries with us-(they are everywhere and are delicious). Hopefully we can make it back with the rest of our crew next time!

My best friend and I camped here for 3 nights! Upon arrival Joe informed us they had just finished building a disc golf course. The place is still new, but it has the feeling of a more established campground. The trails through the middle of the property are well kept, the roads are even, and the portapotties are clean. The respect for nature is clear to see and our site specifically was beautiful. When we went to get firewood, we asked if we could do a partial wheelbarrow and pay less, and if we needed more we would pay the rest, and our hosts graciously allowed it. Another thing is that he told us the loose wood around the site was fair game as long as we gathered it ourselves. Thanks Joe! There are wood chips present on a lot of the sites, so it may be beneficial to provide a rake for campers to create a flat spot clear of large wood chips for their tents. We brought cots, but if we had to put our sleeping bags on the ground it would have made the sleeping arrangement more difficult.

Mr Joe is a super friendly host and the campsite which we stayed at was in great condition. You really notice this business is recently established and the motivation, dedication and freedom he wants to give his guests! We had a campfire all based on the free to collect wood fallen to the ground and what needs to be mentioned is that the whole property is very spaced out with plenty of room for everyone. Also its relatively near civilization/gas station to buy things.

I was surprised how much privacy and space each site had. The facilities were clean, and there was firewood available for sale. Our lot had wood chips throughout which we didn’t mind at all. I will be coming back for sure :)

Would highly recommend! Location was perfect: 25min into TC, 30min to point Betsie for sunsets, and less than 10min to Interlochen! If you head to the coast be sure to spend a night at the Cherry Bowl drive-in theater! Mr Joe is a great guy who did a great job building the campground from scratch. We spoke a few times and he even refilled our 5gal firewater bucket for us. If you’re in a pinch, he’s a good friend to have. Although we booked three nights, Mr Joe said we could stay and enjoy ourselves as long as we liked. We stayed in #5 in the back corner, which had a ton of space and secluded from the other sites, but this was true for all the sites. Didn’t hear much from the road or other campers and had good tree coverage. Bugs were relatively mild as well! Nice fire rings and tables with ample supply of wood for burning. There was a clean port-o-potty in the front and back, and the artisan well is *chefs kiss* DELICIOUS! Come and camp here to support an honest, good man without compromising a top-notch experience

Great spot for rustic, peaceful camping. Minus the rain on the second night I was there, the site was very comfortable and well shaded. They're also a good distance from the other sites, so you won't feel like you’re directly on top of each other. Host was very responsive and helpful when I reached out with questions, and it was an overall great experience.

I loved tent camping on Joe’s land. It was very peaceful as the sites are nicely spaced out with a good amount of trees in between. We had a slight issue with our site upon arrival but, Joe was very kind and immediately helped solve the issue. It was a great stay!

Great place, very private, very great host. Family of 5, 3 being kiddos. Great spot, 25 min away from traverse city and 18 min from crystal lake.

What a great setup! Lots of space and HUGE sites, too! Joe is a great host and it sounds like he's making more improvements to the grounds, so I'd bet it's going to just get better! Great price on the firewood he has in site too! Check this place out!

The campsites are large and spaced far enough apart you don’t hear or see anyone. The location is excellent for heading into Sleeping Bear Dunes or visiting the numerous vineyards in the area. Excellent hospitality as well!

My experience at Joe’s Campground was great. I stayed in site #5 which is toward the back of the property. This campground is very private and sites are very spread out which is a huge plus. It was bit chilly in the evenings so I appreciated the abundant dry firewood and quality fire pits and picnic table that my camp was stocked with. The site itself was in great condition with new wood chips providing a nice base under my tent. There is a well toward the back of the property which provided water for showering, cleaning, etc. My daughter attends Interlochen Arts Academy which is about 10 minutes away and this is a super convenient place to camp if you are visiting Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Such a good experience! Campsite was large and well maintained and the owner truly cares about guests’ experience. I will be staying here again when I’m back in the area
